UK Charts: Halo Takes Top Spot, Tomodachi Life Remains Best Selling 3DS Title

This week’s UK charts are now in courtesy of GFK Chart-Track. As in a similar pattern to previous weeks, three Nintendo titles remain in the individual top 40 but are continuously floundering against multi-platform games. Halo: The Master Chief Collection bags the top spot over Assassin’s Creed: Unity, which falls in at number 2 and 3 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One respectively. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare – last week’s chart-topper – continues to dominate the top 10 on all platforms.

Tomodachi Life continues to hold the title for the best-selling 3DS game in the UK charts at 24 this week, while Super Smash Bros for 3DS falls from 19 to 30. Although Mario Kart 8 saw a resurgence last week with the first DLC pack’s release, it drops to 34 from 25. You can view the individual UK top 40 games chart in full below.

  1. Completely predictable. Halo CE is so buggy you can’t even save your in game data. Every review says not to buy it until they patch the game up. The UK doesn’t care though. You guys buy anything.

    1. Halo MASTER CHIEF COLLECTION, not Combat Evolved. Idiot.

And the only thing buggy about the game is the online, single player is working perfectly. Get your facts straight fanboy

      1. The patch didn’t fix everything, and these are glitches the effect things every player does, not a hard to find glitch that you needed to purposely go off the map to even do

        1. It really didn’t fix much. Multiplayer is still a pain in the ass to get into. (Only been able to play 3 games since launch) If you play co-op on at least halo online the other player gets disconnected at the last cut scene and doesn’t get the final achievements (if you’re not the host). The game freezes on boot up or other areas (this happened again yesterday) and the list goes on. By far the worst halo launch ever (big halo fan here).

    2. that will change once majoras mask is out plus only the obese x drones buy halo anyway fucking boring game anyway

    1. In the U.K, unfortunately no. Which is annoying, because I don’t get the obsession with yearly rehashes with little to no change between installments. I’ve got nothing against EA or the FIFA brand, but if they released a new installment every 2-3 years and made plenty of changes, then I wouldn’t mind the success that FIFA recieves……………

        1. I like Football(Soccer) enough to watch it and support a team, but not to buy a game based on it. And besides, I prefer the more civilized sport of Cricket. Some may find it boring, but I’m and Indian that was born in the U.K and live with a Cricket obsessed Dad, so I picked Cricket up young. But even then, I wouldn’t buy a Cricket game, I would just go out and play it. The same for Football/Soccer…

          1. Respect that you like cricket, I could never watch that lol. I guess I could have some fun playing it though. As for sports video games, I’m with you in regards to playing a real sport over a video game version. Basket ball games are the only sports video games I like and I would only actually spend money on NBA Jam games. Oh and screw the haters, Michael Jordan’s Chaos in the Windy City for SNES was awesome lol I would love that to be on the VC.

      1. I’ve never played FIFA and the only sports game I’ve ever liked was SSX Tricky. Should I give a soccer or tennis game a try? Those are my favorite sports. I still can’t see the appeal but so many people buy those games.

      1. No…Shooting people is something that you can’t go out and do, so at least those with stressed minds can pick up a Call of Duty game and relieve stress they have. Fifa is Football/Soccer, something that you can go out and play anyway…

        1. maybe but call of duty is the same thing over and over again plus stressed minds need angry therapy not some crappy shooter

            1. yea but how much can you REALLY innovate a sports game compared to a shooter that doesn’t have preset limitations?

                1. I see you point and respect it. But if there is a worthy fps out there i’d say doom and battlefield

                    1. Doom is incredible ! I’d recommend it i played up to 3 haven’t played battlefield 4 yet would like too

                    2. they have fixed alot so i heard i dont play online anyway
as im more a solo gamer group gaming isn’t for me well with the odd exception of street fighter 4 and kid icarus uprising im 2nd in the uk championships
well able to do all the levels on 9.0 so im pretty good at the game

        2. another relaing actvity is sex that works well unless they are a dateless nerd who lives in the basement jerking of to lolicon on 4chan!

          1. And what if you are not married yet and actual will be faithful and only have s*x with your life partner only, then what???

            1. Not trying to make fun, but TRUST ME, NEVER marry the first person you sleep with. Sleeping with someone does change the relationship, and if you’ve only been with one person there will always be the the thought of trying someone out. The reason divorce rates are so high is cause people get married without truly knowing their partner or themselves. Sex is part of finding out who you are. If you are determined to do that due to religion or personal belief go for it, but just put some deep thought what I said. People grow, people change.

              1. This comment could not be truer. Lord Zedd I salute you. I have had multiple partners and thought I had the right one. Now I don’t know anymore. Its been a horrible month, and there is a child involved now. My advice to you is this. Explore all aspects of your sexuality and your sense of self. Be true to that and you will be successful in your relationship. It is when you are dishonest with that that you will fail

                1. Yea man, I thought I had the one twice lol. First lasted 8 months, then I thought I truly found the one and lasted 2 and a half years, and thought I found my other half. Now I don’t want anything to do with either lol. But I know far more about myself, and women, and what I want, so I am not upset about it. I just know next time I get a chick I will be far wiser in many aspects. I thought I was gonna get a lot of hate for my comment lol so I’m glad someone agreed and has experienced similar things.

        1. Minecraft, although I don’t play it, I don’t mind the success, because it isn’t a yearly rehash, the other two however, are yearly rehashes and that’s why I hate the success it recieves…

          1. I pretty much dislike all yearly rehashed games, it doesn’t matter if it is related to an activity that I like in real life…

    1. NOT EVERYBODY IN THE U.K HATES NINTENDO!!!!!! I LOVE NINTENDO AND PLENTY OF OTHERS HERE LOVE NINTENDO, BUT THERE ARE MANY THAT PREFER THE 3RD PARTY GAMES THAT WII U AND 3DS DO NOT RECIEVE………

      1. They even did the same with Watchdogs early reviews and it still turned out the same shit they said already. Ubisoft knows they suck and willing to bury the truth and sucker money as long as they can.

    1. Yeah I’m a Nintendo fan, but a gamer first. I just hate the yearly releases of franchises like Assassins Creed, that sort of schedule can continue to produce the quality the series needs to be worthwhile. Call of Duty, Guitar Hero, those are the games worth complaining about. But minor bugs in games is kinda the norm now, hell Smash 3DS even had some, so there!

      1. Call of Duty doesn’t have to be a yearly release because it doesn’t have a year in the title, I mean, it’s not Call of Duty 2015 is it??? It’s just that Activision and EA are being money grabbing, franchise milking scumbags. Nothing against those two companies, I mean Mario is also being milked by Nintendo, but there aren’t yearly main series Mario games, are there???

        1. The thing is though, the CoD games, specially since WaW have been pretty much the same regardless of spin-off…

          1. And if Activision spent multiple years producing one Call of Duty game, then that problem won’t be there, you will be able to say, ‘hey, that new Call of Duty seems to have so much more content than the last game in the yearly releases……

      2. guitar hero was awesome ! although call of duty and the latter are annoying yes but assassins creed is like the fucking iphone new phone every fucking year! when they should just release just an update

  2. Seriously, if any of these top sellers were Wii U exclusive games you guys would be celebrating amongst each other.

    1. Stop damage controling. Nobody is mad because theres no nintendo games in top 10. The fact that we are calling it a joke because 1: its predictable 2. If fifa is not in top 1,2,3 its a first person shooter, 4: there is no diversity in the top 10 what so ever. Its always one game followed by the same game in secin, third, and forth.

      1. It’s not damage control, its the truth. The people on this website literally come here just to complain.

    2. Tthis is a Nintendo fan site, not a Xbots and Sonyans are us, everybody in hippie land…

    3. Not celebrating, just glad that a first person shooter or sports game doesn’t get top spot. To me anyway, as long as the list is different enough every week, then I really don’t care where Wii U games place on the list, just as long as the list is different and not predictable all the time…….

    4. Yes, we will be celebrating IF one of the best sellers was a high quality Wii U exclusive. But if something like Sonic Boom was on top…then trust me nobody is going to be happy.

  3. Halo is amazing. Unlike you children on this site, I was but a teen during the Halo 2 era, and now ten years have passed since halo 2’s release. It is amazing to be able to experience the competitive multiplayer again. Unity is a piece of shit with 18fps, so I don’t know why that game is selling so well.

    1. I would think it’s the bundle (same bundle i put on layway) has to be. Why else will black flag for the xbox one be on there? Because it’s bundled both with unity and black flag…… Don’t understand the ps4 one though

    2. what the fuck is a xdrone doing here ? kill it with fire crucify the infidel! and purge this site of the inferior impurities that are sony and xbox !

      1. I don’t like the XBOX division either, but can’t we all accept that not everybody will agree upon the same likes and dislikes and respect that. For example I might not like the XBOX division, but I respect that others do like XBOX. Heck, some people enjoy Sonic 06 for Christ sake…

    3. As a 30 year old, I have no interest in this. Halo 1-2 were great, hated everything past it. I’m certainly not getting the collection for two games that I honestly wouldn’t play much anymore. Not like I even have an xbox or ever would have a microsoft system. I have been against them since they joined the market. And Halo 1-2 are the only games in 3 generations that I have enjoyed playing with friends so I haven’t missed anything but countless shooters and multiplats and fable, which never appealed to me.

    1. Timesplitters was legendary and i hate fps games but timesplitters 2 was some of the best fun i have ever had

  4. Its insane that buggy broken games sell every time it just shows you how uninformed xbox owners are fucking morons.

    Bf4
    Halo mce
    Cod aw
Asscreed 15 all day 1 broken

    1. I only on Wii U in terms of home consoles tbis generation, but, although it’s not a Nintendo produced game, Sonic Boom is apparently a broken mess and it’s on Wii U. However, it suffered the same fate and probably the same hate the Sonic 06 recieved, for being a broken mess that was rushed to meet a deadline as many employees working on the game left the company during Sonic Boom’s development…

  5. Sonic boom was man with no effort.

It was a fresh take on sonic with a lame cartoon s for kids ages 5-9

Now these so called aaa games on the other hand millions and millions of dollars and 1000s of man hours goes into them only to be broken bad and forgotten

    1. Not going to argue about anything else you said, other than, I actually somewhat enjoy the Sonic Boom cartoon and believe it or not, I am 19, so I don’t know what that says about my preferance…

  6. FIFA is unfairly picked on. It’s a sports game, it shouldn’t be competing in the charts against ‘real’ video games. It’s not for gamers. CoD and Assassin’s Creed (and 80% of the rest of the charts) are the games I get really fed up of.

Halo: ME is a buggy mess, which is bad, but you have to admit the concept is phenomenal fan service, and I’m sure once it’s all patched up it’ll be good for those who like that kind of thing. The Halo series is a cut above the garbage that Ubisoft, EA and Activision provide each year.

  7. As I said, shit market, like the U.S.

poor industry…..Games in these countries turned into a stupid thing.

  8. The more bugs a game has the more it sells in the UK! It’s all about the dude/bro macho hype in games, all these games are targeted at men and teen boys and kids who want to think they are mature, and they release them every year and now the pressure to release them is so high it’s a bug party this Christmas in the video game community! It’s so sad people buy these shitty games so easily!
