Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime is convinced that the Wii U is better value for money than the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One despite the lack of third-party support. Reggie points towards the brilliant Mario Kart 8 and the new Super Mario 3D World and Nintendo Land bundle as evidence of this.
“The good news, for us, is that we’re presenting the best value right now in new home consoles. $299, includes two games; it’s a compelling proposition for consumers this holiday.”
“We convince them with the games. So as an example, you can only play Mario Kart 8 – this fabulous game that has sold millions of copies across the world – only on the Wii U because of the enhanced capabilities, the HD graphics, the new elements that we bring to bear for that particular game.
“For us the message is simple; [if] you want to play these great games, you want to have these fantastic experiences, you have to upgrade to the Wii U.”

Oh c’mon, most Nintendo games have no bugs at all. (unless you create them yourself) The Nintendo games that do have the rare bugs are always minor and Nintendo is quick to fix them. Some third party devs release games that are literally unplayable. Battle Field 4 ring a bell? Or Rome Total War? Nintendo’s quality is second to none.
Mostly Nintendo games are near perfection. There will be bugs somewhere but never as terrible as 3rd parties which are out of deliberate tardiness and greed.

God, GTA V is SO much better than 4. Like seriously. 4 is lifeless. Like, what’s up with all the gray? Lol. GTA V on the other hand is full of life. So many bright colors and people walking around all on the beach and stuff. And god damn the cars are sexy. Lol even on PS3 the game looks stunning. And there are THREE protagonists. I especially like Michael. He has a lot of money and doesn’t give a fuck what anyone says. Not even his own family. And one of my favorite parts is where Franklin has to sneak through Michael’s house and repo his car only to be held hostage because Michael was actually in the car. That was fucking hilarious. And the voice acting is SO GOOD! Especially from Trevor. His lines are some of the best in the game and they always make me laugh. :)

Maybe it’s just me, but I have never been interested in those games. I tried Ratchet and Clank before a long time ago on PS2 and it just did not click. I prefer the games they have now like Uncharted, God of War, and Infamous. Although I do think Sly Cooper is alright.
I loved rachet and clank, and the Jak series was very good, but I was more refering to the games that died in the ps1 era / one sequel in the ps2. (Ape Escape, Parappa the Rapper, Medievil, Crash [Activision owns], Spyro [Activision again] Classic Resident Evil, Classic Silent Hill, etc.) I have yet to buy a Sly Cooper game yet and God of War started on ps2, lol.

Odd part is, I can’t really disagree. I have both a PS4 and a Wii U. Currently, the ratio of games I own for each sits at Wii U’s 11 to PS4’s 4. And one of those four is TLoU Remastered (with no remakes on the Wii U). I honestly haven’t powered on the PS4 in a long while, and probably won’t be until Christmas because of AC5 and Shadow of Mordor. Either way… I’ve found more value in my Wii U, and until PS4 actually starts putting out games, it seems like it’ll stay that way.
What I’ve found overall: Sony and Microsoft have the advantage in processing power. There is no arguing there. The game on the PS4 that stands out for me is inFamous: Second Son. The graphics on it plus the fact that the game practically loads the entire world at once is impressive. Unfortunately, iF:SS is the only game I found myself genuinely having fun with. Meanwhile, the Wii U’s advantage, in my mind, is that the games are of much higher quality. The graphics are beautiful, and I find myself genuinely having fun with every game I get. Can’t say the same about 3/4 of my PS4 Library. Not yet, at least.
They have the advantage of processing power? If so, then why 7 out of 10 AAA games this year turned out to be a broken false promise on a disc? Not even raw power can excuse those BS games..sorry, I mean “scams”.
That shows that in the end, it really just comes down to one’s personal preferences. (: I personally have more PS4 games than WiiU games. To be fair, I got my WiiU fairly recently, but even if I had gotten it earlier, there’s only like 2 other games I would have bought. There’s also more upcoming PS4 games I’m interested in than WiiU games. But of course I do realize that there are people feeling the opposite way, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.

PS4 is more expensive console game but the software are cheaper than wii U which is a bit weird since theWii U is supposed to be a walking dead system and the PS4 most sought after system.

I do agree with reggie that Wii U offer exclusive you won’t find anywhere else and I would not buy a game I can have on PC and cheaper for PS or xbox. I play AC creed on PC, why should I buy it on PS4 or Xbox1? the same goes for batman arkham series, Elders scroll. Wii U is cheaper, has more variety of games that are rated highly over all, has backward compatibility, multiple controller options, great indie games, Netflix/YouTube/Hulu and such. With the XB1 for $350 with a game (and cheaper than that with many holiday deals), I don’t know if the Wii U is the best “value”. Reggie is acting like the difference in power is not a factor at all. It is, and it is the reason the Wii U should always be cheaper than the XB1/PS4. The Wii U should have dropped to $250 to keep their $100 price advantage. I do agree the Wii U has the best games lineup, but people do care about power as well. People obviously look at game systems as a long term investment, so they will view the lack of games as a short term issue.

You could just give me Super Smash Bros, Legend of Zelda, and Mario. Then leave the rest to third party. You don’t really have a choice to do that with the Wii U. I mean, if you don’t care for Nintendo games, then you’re out of luck with the Wii U. It’s not much third party support. But if you prefer third party games like myself, you’d have more than enough games to play on the PS4. I know people say PS4 lacks games, but that’s all a matter of opinion. There are more games than I could ever afford on that thing that I want. There’s only a handful I want on the Wii U. Not saying it’s bad though. There’s heavy hitters like Zelda (and Splatoon imo) coming next year.
I see. I know people have been telling you this but you should consider getting a gaming PC. Sure at first you will have to out some good money for it, but it will pay itself off from ridiculously cheap steam sales.
Ignoring those 3rd party games are also on 360, Xbox One, and PS3. Where’s the value in that when majority of those games are on other consoles and broken and rushed and nothing but games that must obey the laws of nature.

Constant flow of classic games via Virtual Console series and quality indies
Unique features and accessories like the gamepad, Miiverse and Amiibos
It has the most exclusives available
It has the most top rated exclusives
And Smash and Bayonetta 2 destroy any exclusive that’s on the Xbox One and PS4

While for me personally, the wii u is the best value console atm, i’m just gonna say Reggie I love ya but please shut the fuck up, I honestly am getting sick of these companys takin potshots at eachother like this and that sony article a little while back, let your consoles speak for themselves rather then makin stupid obviously biased claims like this and the vita being better then the 3ds and so on and so on.
What he says here is’nt too bad but I remember him saying somethign stupid about 3rd party support a while back as well, honestly all this sorta speak does is make them seem desperate, same goes for the vita and ps4 thing in that other article(I don’t even see why they need to make them claims about the ps4 seeing as it’s already selling more then both xbone and wii u).

Look I love Nintendo and Reggie is funny but at the end he’s just a business man and recently he talks like a fucking robot, that E3 robot thing suits him so well right now, he did a Q/A on Twitter and just answered 3 questions about upcoming games, it was so lame!
We want to know about other franchises that have been forgotten, and when I read these statements he talks about how perfect the Wii U is this holiday, yet he only talks about Mario Kart 8, something that came out 6 months ago, at least talk about Bayonetta 2 and Smash!
thank you. reggie has been making a bigger ass out of himself than anyone else as of late. i’m glad i’m not the only person who picks up on the little games reggie talks about when he promotes the u. using watch dogs like the u has good third party support and then mentioning older games as a reason to buy the wii u without even promoting any of the newer good ones is lame. his Q&A was a waste of time for everyone. i don’t get why we even need Q&A’s to get answers out of someone we buy products from he should want to answer as many questions as he can just to be helpful.

Whatever he’s smoking he should share, cos it must be making him see things. While the Wii U is by no means a terrible system it definitely isn’t competing with the other systems much. It’s the cheapest, I think that’s what he meant. There isn’t a huge library of games, most third-party games are shovelware, poorly done ports, or indie games with that “retro game” feel (SOOOOO sick of the 8-bit/16-bit style, so overdone). Realistically, you’re getting the best value with a PS4. You get cross-buy between all three of Sony’s systems, which is nice because you can use your Vita to play on the go, then come home and play on console. Of course, those games do tend to be smaller games and not something like Call of Duty or Assassin’s Creed, but it’s still a nice feature. XBOX One has a high install price unless you skip on the Kinect 2, but it’s still a better value than Wii U. All three have exclusives, Reggie acts as if no Nintendo game could possibly be ported to the other two. Very easily it could, map the buttons differently, remove motion controls (which none of my friends use anyways) and you’re done. Nintendo makes great games, but with Playstation Camera and Move and Kinect 2 you can pretty much port any of their games with no problem, so no, Wii U doesn’t really give you as amazing of an experience as they believe. Hell, you can’t even buy replacement AC Adapter for your Gamepad, so don’t break the damn thing or you’ll have to order a cheap knock-off from Hong Kong or through Nintendo’s parts store. So irritating. I honestly could probably live without the Wii U.
not to sound like a nintendo fanboy but reggie is right, what does ps4 and x-bone have as bundles? ps4 destiny and x-bone sunset overdrive, x-bone cod aw (not sure if the ps4 has one too), wii u has more bundles, some with more than one game and soon it will have a smash bros u bundle
While I agree, the fact of the matter is, Reggie will say ANYTHING to praise the Wii U over it’s competitors. That’s his job. I always wondered what his real, true, off camera opinions are? Like, does he REALLY love Nintendo’s consoles etc. over the competitors consoles and games? Or is he a closet PS4 or Xbox fan?

I don’t think they need to slam each other, but at least Nintendo people conduct themselves with some degree of respect or reverence towards the other companies, unlike the earlier statements by Sony figures, Fils-Aime at least avoided addressing others directly and in derogatory ways, he simply said: “This is our offer and I seem to think it is pretty darn good”.

For now, it is. Most of the games on PS4 and Xbox One are just ports from games on other systems. Whereas the Wii U has quite a few original games by now, and it’s going to get quite a few more games pretty soon. Ps4 and Xbox One are still sharing games with Ps3 and Xbox 360 making it pointless to own the systems. I’m not sure it’ll be further down the road, but for now, the Wii U is the best console to own.
