Zelda Wii U World Will Change And Be Affected By What You Choose To Do

We are only getting dribs and drabs of information related to the forthcoming Zelda game on the Wii U so whenever we get some new information it’s always exciting. Legendary video game designer Shigeru Miyamoto has spoken briefly about the game and says that as you play, the world will change and be affected by what you choose to do. This news is bound to excite Zelda fans.

One of the main things we wanted to do was go back to the open-world concept of the original “Zelda” games and design with that in mind. That’s really the direction the team is going in. This time, we’ve brought back Link’s horse, Epona, and his bow and arrow, but what we’ve decided is really fun is being able to freely walk around in this world and choose what you want to do and how you want to explore. I can’t talk much about it, but one of the things we’re working on right now is that, as you play, the world will change and be affected by what you choose to do.

    1. Im hoping for Seasons. Could you imagine having the changing of the seasons from spring to summer to fall to winter? That would be revolutionary..

  1. This Zelda title is shaping up to be one of the best ever. Could we be seeing GOTY 2015 and possible this gen in the making?

  2. This is fluff. Most Zelda games’ environments have been being altered by player actions for years.

In Ocarina of Time when you have the carpenters rebuild the bridge in Gerudo Valley, or when you steal Epona from the ranch and Ingo loses control.

In Majora’s Mask there are plenty of examples. Spring time in the mountains once Goht is gone, eliminating the poison from the swamp when Odalwa disappears, helping people with the Bomber’s notebook and altering character interactions happened all the time. There’s plenty more.

In Twilight Princess when you finish the Snow Mansion and Zora’s domain thaws. In Skyward Sword when you flood the forest.

Now, if what they mean is that your actions GREATLY alter the environment, opening up new opportunities that are drastic. Then I’m somewhat interested. If they mean you are forced to make decisions, and your actions can alter the environment in less-foreseeable ways, with decisions that can result in multiple consequences versus choosing another decision, then that is enticing.

  3. shut up nintendo! i ain’t listening anymore because i can not be any more hyped then i allready am! otherwise i will die from having all my blood rush to my crotch because this is giving me a holy boner which the world has not seen in it’s 4.3 billion life span!

  4. Now THAT is what I wanted to hear. That is what urked me about A Link Between Worlds. It was non-linear just for the sake of being non-linear and your choices about how to go about it didn’t have any real meaning.

    This sounds much better.

  5. I’m thrilled to hear this!
…I’m also cautiously optimistic becase SS (while a great game) was supposed to have “dungeon-like” areas, and the dungeons were supposed to be revisited and changed. (Only two areas did that in a major way, that I recall.) Still, Wii U has a bit more oomph behind it than the Wii, so…!!!

      1. Both are vastly open world with different gameplay focus. But I’m talking about the fidelity of open world changing during gameplay progression which BTW, Xenoblade may or may not harness enough. Thats why I said “shots fired” because Zelda is a hugely popular franchise and with a change like that will compete with Dragon Age, Skyrim, even Fable. lol

  7. So I’ve looked and gained so much info about this game. I think it’s coming out on December 21 2015 but that might not be true. I hope it’s not because that’s a full year, from now. Ill also bet you all the rupees in the universe this game becomes the most anticipated game of the year. If you have any questions ask me.
