Gamers Are Still Purchasing Super Street Fighter IV On Nintendo 3DS

People still want to play Street Fighter on their handheld and recent sales of Street Fighter IV 3D Edition on the Nintendo 3DS show that this is still the case. Capcom says that Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition has sold 100,000 copies from July to September this year which brings the total sales of the game to an impressive 1.2 million. However, the next episode in the Street Fighter franchise will be exclusive to the PlayStation 4 and the PC.

  1. yeah seriously, I sold my SSFIV because last time I played was 8 month ago for 15 minutes before selling it. Sold it for $15.

I was surprised anyone would buy this game for 3DS now, it lacks depth or something else on the replay department (in my opinion).

          1. Wooow… You’re an idiot… Do you know what fighting games are and why people play them? Go learn some stuff before just saying shit. If you would think that SFV is a carbon copy of USFIV then Smash Wii U is a carbon copy of Brawl. But no there is so much stuff that are changed system mechanics, new everything. The same goes to smash everything is new. Mabye not as big off a difference as between USFIV and SFV but there is a big difference between Smash 4 and Brawl.

One question. How do you judge a fighting game? Please elaborate on that.

            1. I know what they’re not. They’re not PS All-Stars due to being a straight up carbon copy of Smash Bros. in every way so it’s not a legit “fighting game”. Smash 4 being a carbon copy of Brawl? Because of what? Graphics? Nice going on that wise judgement call of yours, dick.

                1. “If you would think SFV is a carbon copy of USFIV, then Smash 4 is a carbon copy of Brawl”

You were saying? And BTW, nobody, including myself, said anything about SF5 being a carbon copy of SF4 so WTF did that come from?

  2. The thing that annoys me about the Street Fighter series is the cartoony graphics and exaggerated body parts. That’s why I used to prefer Mortal Kombat. It was a little more realistic. Though I’m not a fan of either now.

              1. Don’t listen to that ass. He’s been brainwashed and is literally programmed to defend nintendo and talk trash of everything else.

        1. Only Smash Bros? Lol are you kidding me? Smash Bros isn’t even an actual fighting game. It’s fun, but why would I only play Smash Bros? I enjoy Smash, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, etc. I’d rather play all of them instead of limiting myself to only one. And plus I just started getting into Tekken and I think it’s pretty awesome.

                    1. Nintendo Elite Commander Quadraxis

Well obviously, humans are nothing more than cattle to amuse me for some time…

Anyway, just tell me when you want to train together in Smash again someday…

So you think that I played my best because of lag and you didn’t?…

If it was flawless, I have no doubt both of us would still be equal…

And I don’t think you are a noob, otherwise you would barely even hit me…

Online though, the worst annoying crap are the Kirby and Link spammers…

Predictable, that’s why they are only civilians or low grunts within the empire…

                                                        1. Only Street Fighter I’ve actually played before is 2. I’ve played a lot of Mortal Kombat though and I’d probably say my favorite is Deception.

                                              1. This really is a surprise, even after 3 new versions of SF4 people are still buying this one. Pretty sure they know almost nothing about the tournament scene, though.

                                              2. Great maybe they will include the rest of the game as dlc and charge $40 for it like I expect them to. Oh who am I kidding ofcourse they wont.

                                                      1. But it’s not a normal fighting game. The objective in a fighting game is to get your opponent’s life bar to zero percent. In Smash Bros., the objective is to launch your opponent off screen. And there are only a few moves you can do based on your character. There aren’t tons of combos and special moves like you would usually see in a fighting game. And the way you fight also depends on the stage.

                                                        1. You forget Smash Bros. has percentage stamina mode which acts like a life bar. And no, Smash Bros. characters don’t have a “few” moves. Basic attack, down, up, side smash, charge smash, side+B moves, “meteor” smash, mid air basic attacks, mid air side attacks, Final Smash moves. In traditional fighting, you have punch, kick, jump, mid air kick, special, down attack and a Finisher (like Final Smash) and I think thats it. Both have combos in their respective ways but Smash Bros. has and can do a bit more.

                                                          1. Nope. That’s where you’re wrong. Lol. When I was playing Tekken, I had to move in all kinds directions and press like 5-10 buttons in a row. Some characters even have up to 100 different combos. And in fighting games, the combos usually give you a chance to do a devastating finisher move. It’s not like that at all in Smash Bros. You have to get the Smash Ball in order to do that. And I know Smash Bros has the stamina thing, but that’s not the way they made it to be played like normally. Yes, people obviously hit each other in Smash Bros. But Smash Bros is not a “real” fighting game.

                                                            1. Whatever you say nay sayer. XD Just because Smash Bros. is the most popular FIGHTING game since Melee days, doesn’t mean you should deny its a fighting game because it plays differently which what Nintendo is best at, respecting traditions but also doesn’t hold back on breaking traditions and change it in a good way. I’m not saying SF, Tekken or MK sucks now or before but to me, Smash Bros. has achieved a greater sense of balance and competition at a fun level. Have you ever seen a fighting game achieve such sensation?

BTW, I saw Injustice for Wii U at $20. Should I give it a shot?

                                                              1. Yes, I would. I’ve played it a few times and its pretty cool. And I’m only saying Smash Bros isn’t a “real” fighting game. You can’t compare it to traditional fighters cause it’s nowhere near the same thing. That’s like comparing Mario Kart to Forza.

                                                                1. Did I say Smash Bros. is traditional or am I saying it’s already classed as a fighter because it’s what you do in the game: Beat somebody’s ass so it’s a fighting game no matter how your hypocrite mind sees or thinks it.

                                                                  1. If Smash Bros isn’t a traditional fighter then why are you still having this conversation with me? That was the whole point of what I was trying to say.

                                                                    1. No. I should be asking you that question because you wanna make Smash Bros. sound like it’s not a fighter or a crappy one because it’s not “traditional”. It doesn’t have to be “traditional” to be known as a fighting game of its own. The debate is done. Super Smash Bros. is a fighting game, top of the genre, has its own class and uniqueness besides spamming the same fucking moves in an enclosed stage with almost stiff movements. lol

                                                                      1. What are you talking about? I didn’t say Smash Bros was bad. This all started because you said people should only play Smash Bros and not the other fighting games. And I am not going to do that because I still need my fighting games like Mortal Kombat and Tekken. And they play very different from Smash Bros. I said Smash Bros was fun but it will not be the only fighting game I play. Sometimes I just have to play some Mortal Kombat and decapitate some heads. :)

                                                                        1. Now you’re saying its actually a “different” fighting game oppose to saying its “NOT” a fighting game 5 minutes ago? Come on. Stall the double standard act. lol

                                                                          1. I said it’s not a “real” fighting game. I’m guessing you failed to understand what the quotation marks meant. I said it plays very differently from a tradional fighter. Do you consider PS All Stars a fighting game too? *facepalm* lol

                                                                              1. No it isn’t. I already told you what it means. And who said anything about CoD? What the fuck does that have to do with anything?!

                                                                              2. I don’t nor ever said or consider PS All-Stars a fighting game. I consider it as a testament of Sony’s sad ass continuance of ripping off another IP that’s superior and original.

                                                                  1. To spam the most ridiculous moves like that blue energy ball from Ryu or that fucking “Mr. Fantastic” strechy arms that I despise so much? We get it. No real skills found in these games anymore.

                                                                        1. Just shoot something at him then. It’s what I did. He kept shooting fire and stretching his legs so I have choice but to spam my Hadoken. :/

                                                                            1. It takes skill to play Tekken too though. I’ve been beating up CPUS on hard and I was destroying my cousins every time they tried to battle me. I thought I was a pro. Then I went online and got my ass kicked. I haven’t been online since. XD

                                                                                1. No it isn’t. The game has tons of combos for each character. And those pros usually remember the ones that do the most damage. If you go online with that “jump, kick, and punch” to win strategy, you’re going to get your ass kicked too. XD

                                                                                    1. Alright now. You say that now but… Don’t come crying back to HollowGrapeJ when you get your ass crushed through the floor by that 15 hit combo. XD

                                                                                        1. Stranga… You scared to play Street Fighter cause you keep getting your ass whooped by Dhalism? (The stretchy arm guy) XD

                                                                                            1. Well then learn how to spam back. Lol. “Hadoken! Hadoken! Hadoken!” Then wait until the time runs up to see who got the most spam hits. Haha. But trust me. That shit doesn’t work on Bison. He will fuck you up regardless of whether or not you spam. That overpowered bitch… XD

                                                                                        2. You guys have no idea… Wow… Did you know that there is a HUGE fighing game community(FGC) that play every fighting game(Real fighting games including smash) Street Fighter is all skill based. Do you actually think people would even buy it if it werent? I’ll link you 2 videos watch them and then tell me what you think. The FGC is extremely passionate about it.

                                                                                          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJPnAbxTD7s

                                                                                          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pS5peqApgUA

Tell me what you think and if this has changed your mind around fighting games :)

                                                                                  1. Btw, that blue ball attack is the Hadoken. I LOVE spamming that move. XD Anyways, It’s not really that it takes no skill to play. It’s just that it’s really easy to spam moves. Lol.

                                                                                    1. Exactly. Those fighters have no real strategy or substance anymore. It’s just spamming shit like Activision spamming COD with no substance that only the most pathetic will buy and pretend to enjoy.

                                                                          1. Used to whoop some serious not so hard A.I. ass on my Sega Saturn. It had the cd port on the siide. Sick times man.

                                                                            HUZZAH!
                                                                            Listen to Atmosphere.

                                                                          2. WHAT THE GOD DAMN FUCK!?!?!?!?!?! FUCKING TOYS R US CANCELED MY CAPTAIN FALCON AMIIBO PRE-ORDER THOSE FUCKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                                                                            1. That shit would sell. The 3ds proved it. Plus the wii u is sorely lacking in fighting games. Ofcourse the fans would gobble that shit up.

                                                                          3. 100,000 in 3 months? … that’s 400,000 a year … but wait, it was released 3 years ago … so, the recent sales figure doesn’t make much sense to me.

how can the sales momentum be this high? … i think they meant 10,000 no?

                                                                            1. No they meant it, I’m assuming the $5 price tag and fighting games the last 6 months recieving a boost (In the form of SSB4 release and MKX Announcement) meant that it could take a little sunlight too. And for $5 well why the fuck not, all I want from a game is 2-5 hours per dollar, could cover that.

                                                                          4. Street Fighter ALWAYS had good sales on Nintendo consoles. It’s mind boggling that Capcom ignored the MASSIVE demand for Street Fighter IV for Wii back in the day of the first version. Having the Ultra version on the Wii U would significantly boost the sales of the console.

                                                                          5. I purchased SSF IV for only 10$ plus tax during a sale. It is the best use of 10$ I used on the eshop for me. It isn’t for everyone, but I enjoy fighting games.

                                                                          6. Pingback: Super Street Fighter IV Sales On Nintendo 3DS
