Wondering why the New Nintendo 3DS doesn’t come with a charger in the United States? Well, Nintendo says it’s simply to keep costs down for consumers as they would have to raise the price of the console if they included an adapter. The New Nintendo 3DS uses the same adapter as a Nintendo 3DS or a Nintendo DSi. You should also know that Nintendo has been doing away with supplying a charger in Europe for quite some time now.
“New Nintendo 3DS XL uses the same AC adapter as any Nintendo 3DS or Nintendo DSi system. Rather than raise cost of New Nintendo 3DS XL by charging consumers for a component they may already own, we are giving them the option to only buy if they need an AC adapter.”

It’s just low, not the kind of quality I learned to expect from a Nintendo product
I have like 2 or 3 of those adapters. I would be mad if I had to pay for another one. I don’t mind saving $5 to $ 10 when I can so I think it was a good move.
The move doesn’t make sense to me. They’re selling the old model 3DS XL for the same price as this new one, even though it has improved hardware. So this statement doesn’t make any sense to me when they aren’t willing to decrease the price of their older 3DS systems. So how is it that this is for the consumer? You are still charging your consumers full price for old hardware.
I even pointed out how cheap these chargers are, when whole sellers are selling them for $1.50. You know they are getting them a lot cheaper than that.
So how on earth could Nintendo not include that in the box if Nintendo is obviously selling the charger for less than a dollar to whole sellers.
They’re selling the MH4U 3DS bundle for $230, when the game cost $40. Nintendo couldn’t have cut $1 out and included the adapter with these? Do you see why this makes no sense to me? If they can cut off $10 in the MH4U bundle, why can’t they include an adapter? It isn’t like they stopped making the adapter either, so why would it cost them anymore to make something they’re already making…
Anyway, I’ve harped enough… I’m sure someone gets my point by now.
This is really fucked up of them and will cost them sales of this. Take many steps forward just to go backwards and for what?
they do this with phones all the time they can do it with the 3ds I dont own a 3ds why should I buy a charger????
Name a phone that doesn’t come with a charger of some sort….please.
Really shitty move Nitnendo. Its like selling a car without wheels
The difference is that you can’t buy the wheels in the car shop, a mere AC adapter you can buy alongside with the new hardware.
But… actually, the “wheels” in this case would mean games, I suppose you would to say “fuel”, ha ha ha.
Can’t you just buy a charger? The wheels analogy doesn’t really work btw
I want a 3ds but the charger should be with the product plain and simple
Nintendo is not only lacking the charger (forgivable) but the standard New3DS also (in NA). I’m really pissed at Nintendo of America.
that never happened…they just didnt showcase it because they want people to buy the XL version
What never happened? Nintendo said they aren’t going to sell the standard new 3ds in NA
It is true. No standard New3DS for NA. I couldn’t believe it either.
No they actually aren’t selling the regular version in NA just the xl
I actually can understand NOA’s decision in not bringing the standard New 3DS. Small-screened devices are no longer selling like before, bigger screeens has been a solid sell factor for any kind of portable devices a long ago, just look at how Apple took six generations of iPhone to enlarge its screen.
I don’t care about screen size I want a device I can fit in my purse and play on the go. Also no standard means no faceplates, I doubt anyone who already owns an original XL is going to get a NewXL unless they really want to play Xenoblade, lol.
I agree, Nintendo of America Is isolating a decent chunk of its consumer base by doing this. I hope we can pressure NoA to release the smaller one?
My brother and I will be getting the new xl’s even though we have xls. Reason for that is faster hardware and we are suckers and do want to play the new games if they make them exclusive to it. That’s about it…faster hardware, c stick, battery, improved 3d we always have it on.
There will be a bunch of New 3DS exclusive games and/or games with enhanced features on the new handheld, trust me.
And the XL actually fits in a purse and you can play on the go :v I always carry my 3DS XL on my backpack.
The 3DS XL fits in my pocket just fine.
why are people so surprised the AC adapter isn’t included? it’s been that way for all iterations of the 3DS no? the less to pay the better. most of us have a charger already :P
Every model of the 3DS has included a charger in North America this is the first to not have one whether or not you have one already doesn’t mean everyone has one. What happens when someone tries to sell their old 3DS to fund this one they can’t sell it without including the charger and then they don’t have one.
They’re ten bucks. If you didn’t have an extra already, it’s less than what including the charger would have increased to price point by on the website.
Yeah honestly. I have two chargers already. And if I needed one, I could just ask one of the millions of DSi/3DS owners for a charger they don’t need. It’s not a big deal.
Only in Europe, Australia and Japan since the 3DS XL, and precisely to ensure a lower price for the consumer.
But I wonder how much can hurt a consumer to buy an AC Adapter alongside the new handheld at the same time.
In Europe it might have been excluded, but they have been supplying them in America for all consoles. It really isn’t a big deal but us Americans like to kick up a fuss over nothing sometimes 😄
Every single portable device since Gameboy Advance SP has an adapter included in America. This is bullshit.
So people have to know about this or they will end up buying this and not realize they need to buy the charger as well…I hope its made clear to consumers.
There are tons of illustrations in the box.
Illustrations of what? An invisible adapter? Most consumers are not going to know that the adapter is sold separately and it will inevitably bite Nintendo in the butt. The American public/consumer does not play nice when they feel a company has strung them along or isn’t giving them their money’s worth.
Are you drunk? You know what illustrations I’m talking about, I don’t believe people will be jerk enough to see these informations and buy an AC adapter together with the console itself. At least, this was never an issue in Europe and Japan where they do this since the 3DS XL.
Funny because the rest of the world dealt with this at the launch of the 3DS XL in 2012…
When I bought my 3ds XL baxk in 2012… on release day… it came with a charger…. when my daughter got her ACNL 3dsXL….. it came with a charger… and game.
note the line, “the rest of the world”
I cannot believe Nintendo fans are damage controlling this… This is completely unacceptable. We need a revolution.
What do you suggest?
Twitter campaign, boycotting the product, multiple YouTube videos.
We did it with the Xbox one, we did it with the PS4 im sure if we all got together we can do it for a third time.
But that would make the product over all more expensive
How much more expensive could it possibly be? I mean no game included is already a slap in the face…
These adapters do not cost Nintendo any more than $5 to make. It’s really just underhanded stuff they’re doing here.
That is a lie….they dont wanna include it
Damage controlling? I just see a bunch of spoils whinning more and more about this. Just like it was impossible to buy one AC Adapter together with the new handheld.
I guess your one of the many that doesn’t have a 3ds.
There isn’t a need to “damage control”, some people are just over reacting. If your buying this system chances are you A) already have a 3ds system of some kind and already have the charger or are B) in a place where you can purchase a charger.
I’m not and people call me a fanboy. No standard new 3DS and no charger for the new XL while still charging the same price as the old model WITH the adapter?! This is fucking ridiculous!
Let’s say the system is 199 and a charger is 20… Just to keep the numbers round That’s 220… So if the charger came with it the system would be 220… So regardless if it came with it or you have to buy it separate it would cost near the same… What’s the big deal?
The deal is not having multiple chargers for multiple devices since only one is enough. Europe and Japan already do this since the 3DS XL and it still sells wonders.
I just don’t like of people whinning about this like if this was a solution-less problem, people can easily order a charger together with the system.
They should not have to is the point. It isn’t the cost, its just the annoyance of buying one separately when you shouldn’t have to or Nintendo acting like it is doing anyone a real favor when these adapter are dirt cheap anyway. As if they seriously could not have included it without increasing the price by much, give me a break. Just about every other electronic device sold comes with some type of charger besides the 3DS in some places.
If I lived in Europe or Japan, I wouldn’t find it anymore acceptable there either.
And the people who do not already own a 3DS and who do not know they’ll need a charger? Or someone who gets it as a gift? Or the people who are going to trade in their 3DS for the New 3DS XL and they have to trade in their charger with it because all trade in spots (GameStop, Best Buy, pawn shops, etc.) require that they have all cables and chargers with them? They’ll go home, open up the box and get pissed. It will happen. It will happen a lot. It’s not good practice and I’m surprised Nintendo is doing this.
Even cell phone companies put chargers with every phone they make even though we all have multiple chargers at home because they know it’s still necessary for the device to work.
The story about saving money is really a lie. As someone who works with a tech company that produces these type of cables I know they’re only a few dollars to make and companies just jack up the price to make a profit. It’s all about margin and that’s all Nintendo wants. They want you to buy that adapter separately for $15-20 because they’ll make money off of it. Oh, and you better not use any charger except the official one because if you read the warranty papers, using any adapter except the official one voids the warranty. So better not look for cheaper alternatives!
Shady stuff.
Did you know, a person can buy a separated charger together with the console. And with tons of illustrations of not having a charger in the box, I don’t believe that people will be dumb enough to forget to buy the damn 10 dollars charger.
Stop making excuses dude. The charger should be in the freaking box. I don’t care how cheap it is. You still have to go through the hassle of buying another charger when you really shouldn’t have to. What if somebody decides to buy their kid a New 3DS as a gift? And they aren’t aware it doesn’t come with a charger. Then they don’t get to charge their system. And what if it isn’t even in the store when they try to find it? Then you have to order online. Do you see where I’m getting at?
If a dad plans to give ANYTHING as a gift to your kid, I suppose he will have some knowledge about what he is buying. Y’know, he can easily opt for a standard 3DS (or even a 2DS, we’re talking about a kid, after all) that comes with the charger if not having it on the New 3DS would be a major issue.
That’s the problem, Nintendo make things that people don’t like, and instead of complainning directly with Nintendo via their contact channels, people whine on gaming sites. I would like that the New 3DS comes with a charger, I just don’t care about this issue because I don’t intend to buy this thing.
Why r u looking at it like that….the charger should be part of the system…a charger costs pennies to produce, and if they sell a charger for 20 dollars that insane it should be 5 dollars no less……..I can go to dollar tree and but a charger for a dollar…they are trying to save money any way they can while makin more money off the system
I definitely see the logic, and personally I don’t mind too much, but I wish they had put one in just so people wouldn’t complain and ignorant parents who don’t read the box would know beforehand. People have every right to complain, because it’s stupid, but it doesn’t affect me specifically.
I appreciate this comment. Someone who doesn’t just assume everyone is complaining about this for no reason. Too bad not everyone can be so nice.
Buying a system is not ignorance no parent should have to research a product like that…it should come with everything u need…Im not going to buy one now fuck um
You do realize that retail associates would recommend to them to buy a charger if they don’t have one already and let them know it doesn’t come with one? It is the job of the retail associate to make sure the consumer purchases all necessary components…. Nintendo isn’t going to be blamed, the retail associate is going to be blamed first before Nintendo.
Fucking wah!!! I don’t see what the big deal is. You can go buy a charger right now. I think it’s a good thing that nintendo isn’t forcing me to buy an adapter I already have two of. I don’t see how paying $220 for a 3DS XL that comes w/ an adapter is acceptable, yet paying $220 to buy the console and adapter separately is an abomination that deserves boycotts and twitter rants.
Literally every single electronic device comes with a charger, how much more expensive is it to simply throw in one? How hard is it to simply resell it if you don’t want it. I’m sorry if expecting Nintendo to actually give a shit about what they’re selling “whining”.
My point as well…NINTENDO ARE LYING
At the end, here in Mexico, the distributors sell everything at horrible prices… I am sure it will cost like $300 dollars or more :(… And without the charger? I wanted to sell my current 3ds, obviously the charger included!! :(
It would have been more than said 300 dollars or more if the charger had been included.
The people defending this are fucking morons. This move is anti-consummer and nobody should defend this shit. I can GUARANTEE you they wouldn’t have charged 201.99$ just because the adapter is included. They would have charged you the same 199.99$ AC adapter or not. I have multiple 3ds’ at home, and I can tell you playing smash in local multiplayer wrecks a battery so much it’s wise to have a charger for the times when 2 people show up with close to dead batteries on their 3ds.
Where have you been for the last 10 years? The whole video game industry is anti consumer, case and point: GameStop and all the pre-sale madness that has come as a result of their bullshit policies.
With all that in mind, I’m still gonna say you’re being a bit ridiculous, as if $15 is gonna break the bank when you’re buying a $200 console that you already own (essentially).
If you want to rant about Nintendo, why don’t you complain bitterly about shit that is actually annoying like the lack of Gamecube adapters, or their way of announcing shit like the new 3DS Majora’s Mask edition at 6:00am pacific time so by the time any of us west coasters even hear about it eBay scalpers have bought them all, or the fact that every other region gets kickass Club Nintendo Rewards while we get game downloads most of us already own or screen savers, or 3DS region locking etc, etc.
Nintendo definitely has done some shit to piss me off, but the adapter thing doesn’t even phase me.
Your value of the 3ds is higher than mine….I want one but they are not going to force me to buy something I should not have to buy…The games are exspensive enough….They can not make an excuse for this
Everyone is complaining about the things you’ve listed…. this article is specifically talking about another issue Nintendo is causing. It’s called having a focus point. Everyone is tired of the shit Nintendo does, but guess what, they have no competition so they will continue to screw over the consumer any way they want when it comes to the handheld devices.
Why can’t I defend things that are anti-consumer? Consumers are goddamn spoiled capitalist brats who don’t give a shit about the environment or logic; they just want to have a bunch of extra chargers lying around. Most people are not going to need another charger, therefore the charger is separate and you can buy one for cheap at the same time you buy the system.
Sure, if the system actually sold for less…But retailers don’t do that, at least not here in Australia. The New 3ds XL is $249.00 The charger is $14.95. The 3ds XL with a charger was $249.00…go figure.
I don’t see the logic at all honestly. You want to save your consumers money but you still price the old models as the same as the new ones? Okay.
Regardless, you are going to have to spend more money on an adapter if you don’t have another lying around. Whether it’s included in the price doesn’t make a difference when you’re going to have to buy one either way. So seriously what difference does that make with this lame statement?
Even worse when wholesalers are selling 3DS adapters for $1.50 each, so you’re going to tell me Nintendo could not have squeezed that in without increasing the price? Even if it did increase the price a little, if someone can afford a $200 device I think they could spare $10 for the charger to be included.
It is mainly the hassle of even having to buy one separately that annoys me. More so the fact they’re trying to act like it’s for the consumer when anyone with a brain knows, this is for them to save money not the consumer. This doesn’t benefit consumers really, besides ones who plan on keeping old hardware. It surely doesn’t benefit new buyers either.
How about doing your consumers a better favor and stop grouping us altogether in your retarded assumptions. Thinking that we are all going to keep our old models still.
Meh they won’t sell their old stuff, so fuck it. Do not include what they already have from our last product. Good decision, Nintendo. /s
YOur thinking like u work at nintendo? U act like they will take a loss by selling the charger with it? To ask a consumer to buy something that must be included to use is theft. Fuck um I repected nintendo but i dont even want a wii u now….
universal chargers, like phone compaines have been doing. Less wires less cost, more bitching. Dont blame Nintendo cause the scammers at gamestop dont buy back your 3DS without a charger. its been a long time since they cared about gamers. quit your complaining over something so little
I’d prefer if they had released a statement on the lack of stock for the MH4U and Majora’s n3DSs….went to 7 Ebgames and they were all sold out completely.
They’ve had 5 Systems already with the same charging block. This is not a huge deal guys, You could probably find one for 5$ on ebay….
(I have three of them from all of my dsi/3ds systems)
That’s not the point. The point is they should be selling a complete product specially when fanboys brag about Nintendo releasing “complete” games, but can’t release a complete system.
It’s annoying having to do that. Trading in my 3DS and then having to go buy another charger is stupid. It’s convenient to have it come in the box. The fact that the charger only costs $10 makes this sound even dumber. It’s not like it’s going to cost $50 more or anything to include it in the freaking box. This makes no sense. Nintendo is being cheap.
no one should have to buy one on ebay…NINTENDO SHOULD NOT BE MAKING ANY MONEY ON THE CHARGER……its not an accessiory it is like the screen or the battery, And there excuse is lame…Saying enough people have them no they dont…the system has sold only 15 million in the us…theres still a huge fanbase out there…They are supplimenty there income with people buyng the charger
C’mon, you can produce those for probably less than a nickel.
No. This is where the line is drawn Nintendo and you just crossed it feeding us this “low cost” bullshit.
Okay so no standard New 3DS and eliminating the needed AC adapter for the new XL? What the fuck are you doing Nintendo?!
I guarantee you most people who buy a New 3DS as gifts (parents, grandparents, etc.) won’t know that you have to buy the charger separately.
Exactly. They will not. Nintendo’s recent business decisions make no sense, really.
There are going to be people who r gunna buy this product open it up and realize they have to buy a charger…is horrible business and will force people to pay more money I fucking hate it????
to me it really seems like an unfinished product if i can’t even charge the damn thing.
everything i need should be included in 1 package.
it shouldn’t have to be purchased separately imo.
good point
Personally I don’t have anything against it…
…is what I would say if the imbeciles at Gamestop or GAME or anything didn’t force you to give in your charger when you want to trade-in the old 3DS…
It’s perfectly logical to have to provide the charger when you trade in your device, as is the case when you trade in just about any console or want to sell a device to someone else. If you were buying the old 3DS from someone else, wouldn’t you expect to get a charger with it if they had it, instead of them telling you to go buy it separately? The method in which you sell it, whether it be to Gamestop or just a private individual, does not matter – the principle remains the same.
Yes but considering the EU territory already had this garbage before, I don’t care much…
Big mistake on nintendo’s behalf. Maybe they’ll profit in the short term, and perhaps by then we’ll all have the next Nintendo system with a redesigned charger, but overall this is a terrible PR move. Unacceptable.
We understand this isn’t the end of the world and there are more important issues that Nintendo needs to work on, but this is a stain in an otherwise very pleasant direct. A better presentation than e3. Too bad this left a bad taste in our mouths. Oh, and just because they did it elsewhere, doesn’t make it any more right. It just makes the other territories look like pushovers in my eyes.
And for you guys defending this decision… stop. Do not let your love for Nintendo blind you to this folly. Defend Nintendo when they deserve it, not just because they’re being criticized.
Look I’m a huge Nintendo fanboy, I admire this company. I’ve owned just about every system and probably bought a good 80% of their games, but even I recognize this is a bad move. Heck I pre ordered the majora’s mask 3DS, but that doesn’t stop me from realizing that it’s not the best value. I understand it’s a business, but Nintendo is charging $200 for a console that is themed after a game that’s not even included in the package. It doesn’t come with the charger. And the new features are features that should’ve been there since the beginning. Better 3d? Why would they have to improve it? Should’ve been like that from the start. Longer battery life? The battery they included originally was pathetic even for a phone, let alone a gaming device. 4 shoulder buttons? Last decade says hello. C-stick? It’s not even a stick, it’s a nub (I’ll have to test it out myself, but I have my worries) and I was expecting a circle pad instead(love fps). And $200!? I’m willing to bet this device cost no more than $75 to produce. And they charge $30-$40 for what is essentially remakes of their previous games(great games, so can’t complain, but still). $5-$10 ports of games that anyone and their grandma could easily emulate on a pc or phone. Accounts being tied to consoles. No cross play between handheld and home console.
Wow. I might’ve gone overboard for just one complaint. But you guys have to understand that Nintendo isn’t perfect, their products aren’t perfect, and there’s plenty to complain about, yet this feels like a slap to the face. A we-don’t-care-because-we-can-get away-with-it slap to the face. We just have to make it known that we won’t stand for these types of antics. And we won’t tolerate their feeble excuses. We’re gamers, we specifically chose to buy their expensive products, we’re smarter than that.
Long live Nintendo <3 ;-D
It’s valid to criticize the charger decision in some respects, but just going after the device itself because 1) you don’t think it’s a huge improvement and 2) you don’t understand what it means to make a profit on a product and how they allocate that money back into their business (you don’t think other companies have a huge profit margin on their products?) speaks volumes about your ignorance – not to mention that other companies release newer versions and products on a far more regular basis, and for far more money than Nintendo has ever done.
Nor do you understand how technology works with your idiotic comment that it “Should’ve been like that from the start.”
That’s not how it works in real life, dude. Get a clue.
I think they should have 2 units, one with the charger and you know. I for one could do without it, I have enough as it is. I think going down the “better for the environment” path would make more sense.
I agree that it’s better for the environment, and I think it’s a wise decision. Consumers should accept and expect this sort of practice instead of being entitled brats who demand having multiples of the same things.
It’s funny that they’re saying it would save money when in reality it won’t. It’ll just cost new gamers more money. There’s no reason it shouldn’t have one and really they’re just setting parents up to fail when parents buy that model for their child. Assuming most people have their system is a HUGE mistake. The New 3DS release is a huge mistake all over. No charger, no faceplates on the XL, no New 3DS with faceplates in the US, giving bullshit excuses for their lack of things. Ugh, there’s a reason Nintendo hasn’t shined as much in recent years, they’re basically fucking some people over. Combine all this with the whole Amiibo debacle (Marth is getting re-released, but no word on any others). I love Nintendo, but they’re making some REALLY poor business decisions. If the item is rechargeable then you HAVE to include the charger, especially since it doesn’t take an batteries that can be replaced (AA’s for example). It’s just irritating co I have a 3DS but would like to be able to charge them both as needed.
Lol, I just can’t believe how people are acting like they’re not going to have an adaptor if they buy a New 3DS. They’re going to be right at the damn store. And most people already have at least one. I for one am glad that I’m not going to have another adapter lying around when I already have one plus a charging stand.
“1) you don’t think it’s a huge improvement”
If you think the new 3ds’ a huge improvement, then that speaks volumes of YOUR ignorance.
Phones and the handhelds(Gameboy) started in similar ways; bulky and cumbersome. From terrible battery life, weak signal, or horrible screen. Yet the Gameboy seemed poised to be the handheld of choice for mobile consumers. Sure PDAs and Nokia/Motorola had good devices, but ever since apple entered the mobile market it’s been a downwards spiral for Nintendo and its handhelds. Sure they still see success, thanks to their brands, excellent game developement and fanboys like myself, but let’s get real, Nintendo’s hardware isn’t exactly made to overpower the competition. Even the vita is a sexier device. So no, I don’t think it’s a huge improvement(just a nice update).
The new 3ds is the device I wanted from the beginning. From before they even announced the 3ds. And while Nintendo is happy selling us underpowered hardware, cellphone manufacturers will soon be making devices that’ll compete in raw power to home consoles, taking indie developers along for the ride. There’s a reason developers are abandoning Nintendo platforms, despite Nintendo selling tens of millions of devices.
I applaud Nintendo for being a great business, but as a gamer, one who spends an awful lot of money on their devices, I feel I have the right to want the best. Gaming isn’t cheap, but it shouldn’t be this expensive either.
“2) you don’t understand what it means to make a profit on a product and how they allocate that money back into their business”
I’m not a part of Nintendo. I’m not a stockholder. I have no say, other than how and what I choose to purchase from them, and if it were up to me you bet i would allocate a bit more resources to fix some of their flaws to compete against their competitors. From catering to the fans of certain genres (rts, fps, sports, racing, etc) all the way to improving the marketing department and everything in between (hardware/release schedule/online).
Unfortunately since I have no say in their everyday operations, I could (definitely) care less about how they run their business. All I can do is continue to buy the games that I enjoy and hope they make good business decisions.
Which they usually do, they have been around for 125 years afterall, but at the cost of our loyalty. Nintendo loves to play the scarcity tactic (eg, amiibos, limited edition hardware and software, GameCube adaptor!). They take advantage of our nostalgia by over charging for older products ($5 for NES games, seriously?), and sometimes milking brands (Mario everything, but no F-Zero/Earthbound/Custom Robo, etc…). And they’ll throw us a bone every once in awhile to keep us coming back for more. So we reciprocate by following everything the company does so we won’t miss out on any of these goodies(Mario Galaxy 2 for $10 on the WiiU… nice).
I’ve given plenty of examples of what I think they should work on. And I feel they’re legitimate complaints, but if you don’t like what I have to say, then just look around. You’re on the Internet, where everybody has an opinion and is not afraid to share it with the rest of us nobodies. In here you’ll find plenty of people complaining about their bad business moves, fans and trolls alike.
“(you don’t think other companies have a huge profit margin on their products?)”
Yes, Apple is a great example. And, since I don’t care for their products like I care for Nintendo’s, I don’t buy any of their (admittedly polished) products.
“– not to mention that other companies release newer versions and products on a far more regular basis, and for far more money than Nintendo has ever done.”
So just because other companies do it you think it’s ok for Nintendo to do so aswell?
Those companies are in the red ocean. Driving prices down and improving their products at a rapid pace to the benefit of their customers, yet, I couldn’t care less what those other companies do. I’ve had 4 phones in 13 years, and unless something truly innovative comes out, it’ll probably remain that way for another 3 years. I don’t hold Nintendo to the same standards of other companies. I expect only great, innovative things from this company. Just because I care for them.
‘Nor do you understand how technology works with your idiotic comment that it “Should’ve been like that from the start.”’
So enlighten me. Tell me how technology works and what was so idiotic about my opinion. Nintendo, in my opinion, only truly does one thing wrong. And that’s usually underestimate their power to succeed. The loyalty of their fans. So they cut corners where others wouldn’t even consider it an option. It’s always a risk and Nintendo never goes all the way. The bigger the risk, the bigger the reward.
They never invest in powerful hardware, especially in memory/ram. They just do “enough,” because they’re afraid their products won’t sell and in return lose out in that investment and it always comes to bite them in the ass. (Not for making money, Nintendo’s got that covered, they know how to make money. Even in their bad times ,like now, they make money.) But in the minds of gamers. So for not taking that risk, they make themselves look weak and the consumers respond with a weak interest in them. Nintendo never reaches their full potential.
Imagine if Nintendo would’ve made the Wii as powerful as the Xbox 360 and ps3 last generation. Who would want, who would need those systems at that point. Only their fanboys.
If Nintendo would’ve made the WiiU more powerful, people wouldn’t need to buy tablets apart from their console. They could just watch Netflix or browse Facebook/the Internet while someone else played on the screen or vice versa. Or we could be on miiverse chatting it up, by video(it has a camera remember), text or drawing, while we raced (mario kart/f-zero), shot each other (splatoon/cod), fought (smash/tekken) or whatever other innovation developers could come up with. Instead Nintendo is so risk adverse that they always pay the price. This whole thread is because Nintendo upgraded their console because it couldn’t last the whole generation in its original design. I’m guessing this was the original design, but decided to release it only once they knew it was a success. We could’ve been gaming on this from the start. Too bad. Like I said Nintendo is paying with my loyalty. I would’ve never criticized them if they didn’t pull these tactics on us.
“That’s not how it works in real life, dude. Get a clue.”
I’m in it for the games so I’ll continue to support my favorite gaming company, but it’s obvious it’s you that needs to get a clue.

I never had a 3DS,my last handheld system was the DS lite and I am very happy with it and never been interested in the 3DS. So if I decided to make a jump and buy the new 3DS XL then I am f*** …. Well done Nintendo for this yet another bad business decision. The PR is terrible and they managed to announce it with a straight face… it just amaze me they don’t release how terrible is this decision… Well I guess my next handheld system will be a PS vita then…

It’s articles like these where you find out who the real blind Nintendo fanboys are. Or the idiots that will support something because “everyone else does it!” Some businesses in some countries use child labor, so should the rest of the world do the same? NO!!!
