JVM over at the NeoGAF forums has received sales data for the United Kingdom during 2014. Remember, the United Kingdom is the biggest video game market in the whole of Europe. Sales for software on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One seem to be extremely healthy as UK games clamour for that next generation experience. However, it’s Nintendo platforms that have taken a hit. The Nintendo 3DS and the Wii U software sales aren’t anything to write home about despite several high-profile releases for the Wii U. Let’s hope things change this year.

Meh, the 360 has been out a while and the x1 really screwed folks for having to pay $9 a title to play on your new system.
Overall U sold well last year and mk8 came out mid year, smash end of year.
I don’t understand… The UK has crappy ass Nintendo sales yet they get cool promotion items, great order bonuses, and good offers. I guess being an actual loyal customer is something Nintendo prefers to ignore.

HAHAHA! YES!!! I purchased a new desktop, cost me the best part of $1000 only to find out later that the graphics card, even though it was a 1GB graphics card, was a “bad” 1GB graphics card… now, in all my years of console gaming (which I prefer over PC gaming) has ANYONE ever said to me: “yeah, you can buy this console, but you will need to upgrade it to play games on it”
So I spend $350 on a Wii U, it plays all the games I want and I don’t need to spend extra on it just to play the latest games…

That’s not it. Valve just don’t have any reports to make in regard of the sales they make on Steam, so most of the sales you see here are just physical copies, the Steam sales do not figure on this document.

True they should have, but Nintendo is not in the habit of subsidizing their consoles as much as the others. Sony is taking a $60 hit per console, and I am assuming the $49 cheaper XBone is taking a bigger one( which is why games for the other systems are costing ~15€ more here ). An equally powerful Nintendo console would thus cost more, especially with the gamepad.

Don’t expect to see the sales getting better, UK have proven themselves to have terrible tastes in video games, each of their sales charts are a pain to witness. And I’m not talking about just Nintendo stuff here, but also the games they play on other platforms too. A clusterfuck for gaming where big corporations hammer their marketing 24/7.

Why is this a shock? How many times do we see the top 40 list of UK games, it almost NEVER changes, it’s always Minecraft, COD, FIFA. UK has horrid taste in games, Nintendo should just leave the UK like they did with Brazil.

Honestly Nintendo doesn’t need the U.K. market anymore. They have proven that they can be successful without the U.K.. If I were Iwata I would stop selling Nintendo products there altogether, that way those resources can be put to better use elsewhere. Why dump money into a market that does not give back any return? Bring all the Nintendo merchandise from the U.K. here to the U.S.. We will buy it. No need for it to rot on the shelves.
If the U.K. only wants Fifa, COD, AC, and Minecraft, well then thats all that should be stocked on the shelves.
I don’t think Nintendo should stop, unless it is actually detrimental to the company. I’m from the U.S and I would hate to see the UK lose Nintendo support, because they would miss out on a lot of cool games. Plus, the US and UK connects to one another through Nintendo’s online in games like Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros and Goldeneye for Wii. We would have less players to play with if the UK didn’t have Nintendo’s support.
If it is necessary for Nintendo to do, then so be it… But unless it is absolutelu necessary, Nintendo should fight on in the UK!

This just in, the UK consumer market follows hype and trends, and is rapidly stagnating under piles of copies of the newest FIFA installments.
The UK gaming charts gave been junk since the 80s’, back then it was Football Manager and bad movie licence games. E-shop top ten would be interesting to see each week, all platforms chart.
This isn’t much of a surprise considering their list of top sellers.

Every time there’s any kind of sales chart for the UK (or Europe in general), it proves more and more what horrible taste in games that they have. Unfortunately, it’s not TOO different even here in the US. I facepalm my own people.
Difference being that even while the casual games rule in the U.S as they do in the UK, Nintendo still does amazing over here in the U.S while it always performs terribly in the UK.
The U.S is Nintendo’s biggest money maker (even more so than Japan).

The moment Nintendo leaves the UK is the moment they fade into obscurity, it’s no coincidence that when Nintendo get it right in the UK that is when they are most successful, as seen with the Wii. The situation in the UK is totally different than with Brazil, where they were forced out due to absurd tax rates. So you dumb egg chasing Texas rangers need to get a grip on the situation and stop acting like Nintendo are an American company, purely out to help Americans. Enjoy your amazing New 3DS choices and having to buy Majora’s Mask 3D separately to the limited edition console, whereas I already have mine pre-ordered that comes with the game, a free charger an amazing Skull Kid statue. I might even just get a separate New 3DS just because I can, and you can’t. Long live the UK! (Oh and FIFA is actually really fun, not that you would know when your ‘footballs’ are shaped like eggs and you’re to busy hitting home runs to give a shit :p).
