A whole host of new details have been unveiled for upcoming Wii U game Xenoblade Chronicles X in the latest issue of Famitsu. The Japanese magazine has dedicated 10 pages to the RPG’s vast world, including tidbits such as the ability to customize your player avatar extensively with varying options for skin colour, hair style, eye colour, and so on. According to translations, the game will also include avatar voice styles from famous voice actors, though these will be announced on the official website at a later date.
Xenoblade Chronicles X will also feature approximately 90 different songs, the introduction of several different “unions” to join when taking on new quests with characters, as well as a new healing system named “Soul Voice”, which abandons the need for healers. And given it’s an open world game, the scope players will have in the world is unparalleled since the map is five times larger than Xenoblade Chronicles Wii. In fact, Famitsu also mentions director Tetsuya Takahashi logged over 300 hours within the game. Below you’ll find a summary of the newest details expected in Xenoblade Chronicles X.
- There are supposedly 8 unions your player avatar can join. You can join any within the game and can change union depending on what your goal is. They include (loosely translated as): Path Finder, Corepedian, Interceptor, Land Bank, Avalanche, Arms, Testament, Companion.
- Player Avatars have many different options to customize, including hair colour and style, eye colour, gender, race, and so on.
- The Wii U GamePad will display the map, as well as show character and quest locations. It also gives you the ability to touch tap a previously visited location and warp to it.
- Passive online functionality
- Battles are faster-paced
- 4-player party is an option, AI controls other three.
- Introduces a new healing system called Soul Voice, no healers needed.
- 90 different songs in-game.
- New characters include Nagi and Guin.

Such unimpressive details for an impressive games
What do you want then?…
And don’t come with 64 player online multiplayer because that’s never going to happen…
IGN just revelead the map is 5 times bigger than the original, that’s a more interesting detail
That was known earlier as well…
Shut up, Raph the Troll!
Says something that may be true, doesn’t provide any details or anything at all, to back it up.

Such unimpressive act of hate for such an awesome games Thats proven to be awesome.
It’s 10 times bigger than Skyrim.
So screw you.
No, rafael has a point. I don’t like the idea of this “soul voice”. It means there is no longer a use for healers? Really? So what, we heal automatically? And they said combat would be faster? They better not be trying to streamline combat, or dumb it down to a casual level. I swear to god of they streamline Xenoblade I will destroy everything…. I didn’t like these details either. I was also unimpressed.
And fyi, Xenoblade is my number one anticipated game of all time, not just this year. Thats why i’m being a bit hard on it..
It’s because healers were pretty much useless in the original. They just aren’t necessary in Xenoblade’s combat.
Well it depended what party members you used. If you just spammed the extremely over powered Melia, then no you didn’t need a healer. But my favorite combination was Shulk, Reyn, and Dunban. That light healing art Shulk has was used in every single battle I had. I used it alot. And sometimes I would throw Sharla in there on the really tough battles. (I always stayed under leveled to give the game more of a challenge, so I needed healers.)
And thats what was great about Xenoblade, the game was what you made of it. If you wanted to over level your characters and easily breeze through the game you could. But for those of us that liked a challenge, healing was essential.
And the fact that they are taking that freedom away really upsets me in Xenoblade X. I hate the idea of automatic healing. What are we too stupid now to heal our own party members? Or maybe I want to let one of my party members die. Did they ever think about that? The choice should be mine, not the games. Less control in an rpg, no matter how insignificant is always a big deal to me.
That’s fucking it. Commander let me your robo-tech, I know you have sort of time device. I want this game so damn bad.
The empire and I love to watch you little people hunger after the sacredness of gaming…
Than the empire and you sound like perverts.
…
?
You still own a Wii U? Honestly, I’m surprised.
Damn! What hole did you crawl out of?
And yes I still own one
Lies
I really do. My Nintendo ID is pokeswagg. I’ve played a few rounds of smash with that loser Nintendo commander and some other guy.
Commander..a loser? lol I even had a hard time fighting him in our first round and no I don’t suck. I’ve been playing since the original game.
Hmm idk I never played 1 on 1 with him. But I’m pretty sure I can beat him
Easy for you to say. I still haven’t done the tie breaker rematch with him.
Oh so you two are evenly matched than right?
Can’t say for sure. lol
Well. I just can’t wait to had commander his robotic ass.
Dream on. The dude isn’t the type to fuck me and either am I. lol
Well I like a little challenge. If I get my ass kicked. Than is what makes me work harder to improve my skills
Well good luck with that.
We’ll see someday if you’re up to 1 vs 1 no items and FD type of stages…
Yeah ok. When I’m ready I’ll message you on miiverse. So get some practice.
Well you 2 going against me most of the time isn’t exactly fair…
I’m ready any time, if I got the time that is…
And who’s your main? Or which characters are you best with.
I still don’t have a favorite character yet, in Brawl and Melee it was Falco but he seems odd in Wii U now so I can’t be as skilled with him any more…
I’ll see what characters I’ll use against you depending on ow well or bad you do in the first round…
Alrighty, looks like Wednesday will be a free day for me. So that’s when I’ll challenge you.
Awesome news have make some space and time for this mammoth of a game
No online co op? That’s crappy
This is loose translation that is only some of the info the author gathered. It doesn’t mean that’s all there is
the dumb ass author of this article (Colette) edited the english translation, since this was COPY AND PASTED from other websites. it is speculated passive online play, nothing is confirmed for online
Passive online play was mentioned in the list, however it has been updated in light of more solid translations since. And please don’t call me names, being polite really does go a long way. Cheers.
The primitive non indigenous fauna do lack the manners…
It’s neither confirmed or denied. Wait until actual details emerge.
Customizable characters are the best kind of characters.
(Well, for games like RPGs, at least)
I usually spend about half an hour setting up my character; So I hope they have a lot of options.
Same here, haha.
And from what I’ve seen, character creation in Xenoblade X actually looks pretty solid. There seems to be a good number of customization options, more in-depth than I would have expected. Just google for Xenoblade X character creation; there are only very few screenshots, but it should give you some insight. :)
Lol I’ll spend longer than that sometimes… I’m so bad with character customizing, at times, even if I’ve progressed very far into a game.. I’ll start all over if I end up disliking how my character looks or if I think I could make it look better.
LOL I have done that too. I though maybe it was OCD! lol
THIS!
Amazing. Glad to get some more details for this. Hopefully a release date will be revealed soon.
Dunno why, but I keep getting a Mass Effect vibe from this game.
It’s from the space battles at the beginning. And maybe the new city, and all the different races. Thats similar to Mass Effect. But the gameplay is totally different. This game is much better too.
If it don’t have online so what am tried of gamers bitching because a game do not have online that means nothing it doesn’t make a game a buy or not buy some gamers now a day’s kill me with that shit ugh.
Yeah, the fact that so many gamers have become obsessed with online is sad. Some of the best games ever don’t have such a thing.
Odd, I feel that these games are great without any kind of online play. Looks grand!
I can’t believe there are still people defending the lack of online co-op in games like this, especially in this day and age.
Maybe because, oh I don’t know, it’s not needed! RPG’s like this have typically been single-player experiences anyway.
Totally. I mean, who on earth would even like to explore the huge world of a game like this with their friends, fight enemies and have FUN together?! SO unnecessary! Absolutely not needed, anyone who wants that must have lost their mind, seriously.
/s
Unless one has really terrible Internet that disconnects at random.
That would be their personal problem and in no way something the majority of people should have to bear the consequences for, which, in this case, would mean to miss out on a feature that would majorly improve the game.
Don’t like the game, don’t fucking buy it. Enough said.
???
Nobody said I don’t like the game, what are you talking about?
I was obviously speaking generally about the issue of certain games lacking online multiplayer, and people unreasonably defending it. We don’t even know whether or not this game will feature online co-op, so it’s silly to assume “I don’t like the game” based on that issue.
Honestly, I would rather play this game solo, than with friends. When you play a game with friends, how often do you invest time into the story? And this game has tons of cutscenes. My friends would grow impatient and would just want to kill creatures.
Rpg’s are about story and character progression. Not every game is made better playing with friends, and this is clearly one of them.
Because having online multiplayer eliminates the option of singleplayer, am I right?
Ever considered the possibility of having both? Singleplayer for story mode AND online multiplayer to explore the world and/or just to have fun? Games like GTA, Monster Hunter, SSB, LBP offer both single- and multiplayer too; yes, each one of them does it differently depending on their genre, but the general idea is the same – singleplayer for “story”, multiplayer for messing around, exploring things together, having fun with company.
And well, I don’t know, maybe I would have been more likely to agree with you if things like online RPGs weren’t such a success in the video game industry.
But yea, I honestly don’t get it when people act like having more than one game mode is absolutely outside the realms of possibility. I’ve had a similar conversation with people in relation to Mario Party, and again did they make it seem like it’s an either-or situation, with no option to have both.
But either way, I personally believe games with huge worlds like this are very fun to explore together with friends. It’s definitely true that not every game is suited to be played with friends, but contrasted to your opinion, I believe that this type of game indeed is suited to feature online multiplayer, apart from a seperate singleplayer story mode.
Seriously saying that the game shouldn’t have online is ridiculous. You guys act like added online gets rid of singleplayer. Online is vital especially for a 4 player co-op open world adventure. For those who wants it local only can you think of people that have friends overseas that want to play together and can’t because the option isn’t there?
Finally, someone who gets it. Thank you.
namie and commander could not be more right. WE DONT WANT THE SINGLE PLAYER EXPERIENCE TO LEAVE, we just deserve, in 2015, a coop option. Why? Because it would be fun.
Well, I actually agree with you on this. As long a multiplayer does not effect the single player story mode, then i’m all for it. I was assuming you guys were talking about making Xenoblade an MMO or something. That would be bad. An optional Multiplayer Mode would be good. Or maybe being able to invite a friend to help you in the story mode would even be cool. As long as mulitplayer isnt forced then i’m all in.
Tell me about it. I also am amazed that it isn’t a natural thing to include co-op or online multiplayer these days in games that could clearly benefit from it. So many Nintendo games could have used either. I seriously do not understand it myself as well, why everyone acts like it isn’t needed. I guess they don’t, but some people would sure as hell enjoy it.
As there are people who like playing alone, there are also people who enjoy to be able to play online with other people around the world or in their country.
Others, like in my case live somewhere far from where any of their friends do.. So having no online multiplayer in some games can really blow at times. Forcing local multiplayer on people in this day and age is just not acceptable in my opinion. What about people who might also want to play with their friends in games, but don’t feel like going over to their house just to do it.
I would have loved to have someone to play Super Mario 3D World with online.. ZombiU although not the greatest game, would have been a lot more fun with online multiplayer as well.
Couldn’t agree more. I seriously don’t understand it, we’re in 2015 and there’s absolutely no reason at all why some games that clearly would benefit from it shouldn’t feature online multiplayer. Super Mario 3D World definitely was one of those games, along with Mario Party. Both examples would have been perfectly suited for online multiplayer, especially Mario Party. I just can’t comprehend why Nintendo would leave it out in a game that’s fundamentally meant to be played with others, no matter how I think about it, there just is no valid reason. People keep bringing up the argument “Well, it’s a game that’s most enjoyable when played with friends and family in the same room”, which makes absolutely no sense to me, really. Just because playing it with people on the same couch is most fun (which is subjective and not necessarily true for every individual) doesn’t exclude the possibility of having additional online multiplayer, along the local multiplayer. And honestly, there’s not really much of a difference between playing local and online with voice chat, imo. Both can get really fun.
And as you’ve said, some people just don’t feel like going over to their friend’s place every time they’d like to play a game, or they simply can’t because they don’t live close enough to their friends. Also, not everyone has the time to just go over to their friends’ whenever they’d like to. People go to work, school or even have family; setting up a time to meet up just to play video games isn’t the easiest thing after reaching an age where life gets a little busier.
Online multiplayer would solve so many problems, and as previously said, in this day and age it really should be taken for granted already. One option doesn’t eliminate the other, and it is very well possible to have more than one game mode in a game; singleplayer, local multiplayer and online multiplayer can co-exist in the same game, people seriously need to realize that.
So since Legend of Zelda for Wii U is going to have a giant world, should we add online multiplayer to that game, too?
Well, you have to keep in mind that Xenoblade X and TLoZ are two entirely different types of games. A big open world isn’t the only factor that determines whether or not a game would be suited to feature online multiplayer.
While in TLoZ it’s mostly about dungeons and solving puzzles of some sort, Xenoblade is generally about killing monsters and collecting items or other quests of that kind. You can’t just make a game playable in multiplayer if the dungeons are laid out to be solved by one person – you would have add entirely new ones with puzzles that are built to be solved by more than one person. For a game like Xenoblade, you could just add quests that require you to collect more items than normal, or kill more monsters than normal, or just stronger monsters, which should be much easier and less time consuming to implement, if you actually wanted to add co-op quests. But if you truly wanted a TLoZ game to be suited for multiplayer, you would have to build it to be that way from ground-up, like it was the case with Four Swords. That’s why I said “in a game *like* this” (in relation to Xenoblade) in most of my comments. :)
…But while we’re on it, I personally think a Four Swords-esque Zelda co-op game with today’s visuals, in other words, 3D perspective + gorgeous graphics instead of 2D topview in 16-bit (which, of course, has it’s own charm), and an actual open-world to roam around in, instead of a simple map to choose your destination on, would be absolutely neat too. But yea, that just isn’t something you can simply add into a game like the upcoming Zelda, it would need to be its own seperate game, I suppose. But that’s another story. :p
is the four player party online? or is it couch co-op?
Translations are very loose at this moment, so the online functionality within the game isn’t clear and is yet to be confirmed officially.
Four player party is in single player mode, where the AI controls three other characters, as far as translations go. Hope that helps. :)
ok thank you! :)
I love the character customization although I have yet to see a female protagonist/avatar in the game yet, but I’m pretty sure you can be a female. The clan mechanics reminds me of the similar feature in Skyrim. I wonder if there will be perks to being in a certain clan? Nonetheless I can’t wait for this game, especially the beautiful environments.
Gender is one of the points listed under character customization, so, female characters confirmed!
have they fixed the faces yet xd
or atleast the eyes because thats the biggest problem the rest is ok
Meh, while more realistic Mass Effect style faces would be nice, they have chosen this art style, and are going to stick with the more anime feel to the game. It’s not that big of a deal really.
About the eyes, I believe the art style of this game is very close to the one found in Anime (Japanese Animation), and there… eyes look like that :P
I admit even I find the character models not too impressive. But you have to make some sacrifices if you want to make a huge open world
The art style they choose for the characters doesn’t have much to do with the size of the open world.

It’s always been like this. Welcome to the Xeno franchise.
http://www.combogamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Xenosaga-ComboGamer.jpg
In any case, I found the Skyrim faces hideous. But I got over it. You’ll likely do the same.
If this game has online like Monster Hunter 4, 4 players then I’ll buy it day one…
That would be great, but It’ll probably have online in a fashion similar to Hyrule Warriors.
Welcome back Lieutenant…
That would be great too…
It’s good to be back. Been busy with College. And I don’t have internet at home.
Yes that damn college, I’m getting busier every day too as I’ve just started 1 week ago again…
Welcome back, Lt. Cereza. It’s never the same without you here.
I’m still bummed about that. Every recent Dynasty Warriors game before then had online co-op. Adventure mode would have killed with online co-op. I’d probably be playing the game more often, if I had someone else to play it with.
Not likely. Hopefully, but very unlikely knowing Nintendo. I hope they get out of that phase eventually, because local multiplayer I can’t even use most the time since anyone rarely drives way out to my home.
Plus, god forbid even if I did have a bunch of friends that could easily visit me. What If they just don’t feel like playing anymore but I still want to play with someone? Sucks in situations like that too.
Indeed, that’s basically besides their primary flaw “advertising” that they need to focus on more in the next generation…
Ughh these are all great to hear tbh
Can’t wait to buy. I hope there is a fancy pants limited edition we can all pre-order and an Amiibo.
Nintendo NEED to put Xenoblade fo the Wii un the e shop befre this game hit the market.
that would be stupid from a busniss standpoint because of xenoblade on 3ds

We better have access to every single race on our planet along with different shades of the race’s color.
Passive online functionality: If that means no online multiplayer, oh well. Xenoblade Chronicles didn’t have online multiplayer so I could really care less if this game has it. (It’d be cool to have online multiplayer, though, but whatever.)
Fast paced battles: If it’s too fast paced, I hope they have an option to change it to a slower setting.
4-player party is an option, AI controls other three: Does this mean if I have 3 people to play with, they can join in & control the other 3 characters in the party? Or does this mean we have control over how many AI team mates we have in our party at one time? Like if I want my party to be just 2 characters, I can do that.
Introduces a new healing system called Soul Voice, no healers needed: As Deepsouth said, I’ll be upset if this means healing is automatic. Sometimes, I like to let a higher level character die so the others can catch up to them. Sometimes, I actually want one of my party members to be at a higher level than the others as a way to give the illusion that they are the most powerful member in my team, even if storywise they are actually the weakest.
