Pokken Tournament Will Feature A Water Stage, Support Pokemon And Alternative Fighter Colours

Bandai Namco has begun location testing this weekend in Japanese arcades for its latest fighting game, Pokken Tournament. Following hands-on time with the arcade game, a number of new details have emerged – including two new stages, support Pokemon and alternative colour schemes for fighters.

Earlier this week, publisher and developer Bandai Namco unearthed new screenshots of the game which gave us a better look at newly announced Pokemon such as Suicune, Pikachu and Gardevoir. Though it wasn’t until the company launched the official Pokken Tournament website that a couple of new support Pokemon were revealed.

Both Frogadier and Eevee join the game to support players during fights, the former chooses “water pulse” for aid in a tight spot while Eevee quite literally lends a “helping hand” to boost your attack power and restore health. Savvy Pokemon fans may have noticed other support Pokemon shown in the screenshots, which included Emolga, Fennekin, Lapras and Snivy.

Aside from support Pokemon, Bandai Namco revealed two new stages. The scan below shows a new fighting ring, while the image following showcases a new water stage with legendary Pokemon Lugia in the background. Location tests also confirmed the ability to switch playable Pokemon such as Lucario and Suicune to alternative colour schemes and the arcade controller system. Make sure to check out the images in the gallery below. Pokken Tournament is due to release in Japanese arcades this year.

        1. I hope you’re not joking. If not I’ll let u know when I have either shulk or metaknight in my hands so we can trade

        1. That’s true. You send me a lucario and I send you a box with a rock in it. I live in California, so on the off chance that you live nearby, we could trade face to face.

      1. Who’s “we”? There are people from all over the world commenting here. Also the game will be ported to Wii U later.

        1. Well only Japan is getting this game and this site is in English so I assume not many Japanese peeps are on this site.

And to my knowledge Nintendo never said this game was definitely coming to Wii U.

  1. Pika-Pika… I mean this is gonna be one fun game. Let’s hope that Bandai-Namco and The Pokémon Company release this arcade port to the Wii U (and possibly the New 3DS XL).

    1. Cmon, really? The 3DS already has plenty of Pokemon installments. Let this be the first good Pokemon installment solely for the Wii U (Rumble U sucked).

    1. I don’t think they’ll make another one, since the whole point of them was being able to battle with full 3d models, which you can now do in the new pokemon games anyways.

      1. I see your point, but some people might want a Pokemon game on a home console instead of a hand-held game. Either way they’d have their fill of Pokemon.

      1. Not exactly, they can do a totally brand new version of it. Pokemon Stadium and fighting games are two totally different things.

  2. LMAO this looks like shit, only nintendrones can have fun with this, I dont know, maybe Ill try it later, but it’s at the bottom of my list.

    1. All the Xboxes have been horrible. It should have died after the first console. Huge ugly boxes, worst controllers, too much piracy, consoles easily break, shitty first party games, no Japanese devs support. The list goes on. Don’t buy a fucking Xbox.

  3. They showed Blaziken with Lucario like two years ago… where’s Blaziken? Oh… that’s right.. TOO…. MUCH…. WATER

  4. Where’ s Blaziken?! I mean they showed it like three or so many years ago… I want my Blaziken…oh, right, TOO…MUCH…. WATER… 7.8/10

  5. Just for clarity, it’s location test not localization. Localization implies that game’s being translated/brought overseas. Pretty sure it’ll happen, just no official word yet.

  6. Sorry for the unrelated comment, but isn’t it better to get a hard cover case to put over your 3DS instead of trying to get alimited edition? Or are the hard covers harmful for the 3DS?

  7. Sir Isaac Newton of Judah

Japan still make arcades and have people go out and have fun. Please could we revive the arcade here as well? Great game in the making.

    F=ma.

  8. I don’t know how I feel about a res Gardevoir although the red Lucario is really cool looking. I think it would be cool for the Pokemon to have costumes similarly how they have costumes in DOA; I could imagine Gardevoir in a kimono or Lucario in some spikey punk gear or something. :P

      1. Geez fine, stalker much? Anyway It’s honestly about how YOU feel about limited edition 3DSs that should motivate you to purchase one. I like the limited edition ones, but I don’t have the cash to just buy them as soon as they come out so I pass on them. If you have the cash and like a limited edition 3DS go for it, otherwise don’t worry about them they’re just recolored 3DSs.

        1. Ah ok, thanks for the comment. You might say I’m trying to find reasons since I may not be able to get one, but I just though about how a case is better since the power button is on the edge of it, which can be accidentally turned off while in your pocket, but with a case, it would’t happen since you press against the outer cover rather than the actual button…that sound ridiculous?..

  9. Only if it was a huge open world where when you encounter a pokemon it goes from the third person view of the trainer to something like this. Like where you control the pokemon character and its attacks..similar to the combat system in the ninja storm games.

  13. At the Hard Rock Cafe in Paris, visitors will see the famous fur worn by John Lennon of the Beatles in 1969 as well as a suit belonging to Elvis Presley which came from his very own wardrobe.
However, fields and vineyards are fertile and productive, due to the complex and extensive irrigation system which
wets the ground constantly. Several battles of the War of 1812 (the only war the American Army ever lost) were fought here.
