Game Trailers has quizzed its fan base to find out which titles they’re most looking forward to this year. As you already know there’s a ton of big budget games on the horizon from Bloodborne to The Legend of Zelda on Wii U. So here’s the games that the Game Trailers community are looking forward to playing the most.
1. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
2. The Legend of Zelda Wii U
3. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain
4. Uncharted 4
5. Bloodborne
6. Batman: Arkham Knight
7. Final Fantasy XV
8. No Man’s Sky
9. Persona 5
10. Xenoblade Chronicles X

Excellent, no Call of Duty or Assassin’s Creed…
I never liked thode franchises.I tried assasin creed a little but man those controls are awful.Call of duty is just plain awful. So far the best fps experience is with planetside 2 which I enjoy a lot.
Hmm… Have you ever played Counter Strike: GO? It’s probably my favorite fps. (I thought Planetside 2 was neat, but my laptop was too crappy to run it well.)
I used to love playing CS competitively since it basically defined all FPS online multiplayer games…
You felt such an anxiety playing it but a positive one, but then I my passion for RTS games flourished and I became a Commander…
Because they come out later in the year every year.
Skyward Sword swo swo swo swo Skyward Sword swo swo swo swo. Who can take a franchise? Who can take a franchise? Make it utter shit? Ooooooo. Cover it with bullshit and tutorials for you. Skyward Sword can. Skyward Sword can.
Skyward Sword did some things better than any other game in the Zelda franchise though. World and dungeon design for example. It also had the most creative items and most creative ways to use them. Just because it holds the player’s hand doesn’t make the game terrible. In fact, in my opinion, the utter lack of hand holding in Wind Waker made it worse. That game is the only game in the franchise which I needed to use a walkthrough to complete.
Well, it’s not terrible.
This is going to be a good year for gaming
Indeed. I think I’m going to enjoy the selection a little more than I did 2014’s.
Swap first with last and good list.Xeno is my first then ff15 then mgsv and rest
I don’t know about xenoblade being number one but witcher is sooo overated! O’ve been playing the second one free on live and its not very good. In fact i’d say it’s dull, and boring.
Agreed. I fail to see why everyone likes it so much.
I’m actually surprised to see that halo 5 isn’t on their list.
Halo is overrated and done for, nobody cares anymore…
And Xbots are irrelevant…
I’m confused. there must be something wrong with your programming if you think your opinion is fact all the time.
When it comes to Xbots, it is…
Actually, Halo is the one fps game i still enjoy because it’s simple and plain fun. Vehicles, huge battles, simple gameplay, and of course the Sci-Fi. CoD is trash now, that is the one that is overrated as hell.
Call of Duty is beyond overrated, mainly because it’s milked and done for…
I rate it highly but low on a top 5 or 10 list
yep the controls are bit wancky
Does the story/ game get any better as the game goes on? I’m 4 hours in but don’t want to invest more time in it if it doesn’t get any better.
Don’t stop playing a game based on someone telling you it’s bad. Finish the game and you be the judge. If I stopped playing every game people told me was bad, I would have missed out on some great games.
Exactly…
lol I didn’t mean I’d never finish it I just meant that if it’s not that good then right now I’d spend my time finishing up other games like nes remix and captain toad treasure tracker lol I’m going to finish it eventually its a free game it would be silly not to play it.
Good List. A good year for rpgs and adventure games.
No Splatoon? Really? Maybe when Splatoon 2 comes out… Sigh, an IP isn’t valuable until people start accusing it of being the same thing over again.
It’s not surprising There’s no real hype for it plus it’s an indie game.
An Indie game…
All credability you had as even a primitive life-form is flushed down the human toilet…
Not an indie game stupid its an AAA.
I don’t know why those guys are being so rude, I apologize on their behalf. But they’re right, Splatoon is published in-house by Nintendo! It’s a whole new franchise for them, and the buzz at E3 was off the charts.
You do not apologize nor speak on my behalf…
My words against unfactuals are final and that’s it…
I have yet to see an indie team come up with a project that big
There are a lot of indie projects that are huge, on the scale of “AAA” console releases. Most of them are on PC only though. :p
There’s also No Man’s Sky. That’s a massive undertaking.
I guess No Man’s Sky will be upgraded to AAA status in the future…
Hello Games is made up of only four people, so I doubt it.
Splatoon is the first game of Nintendo’s newest in house Dev Team, Team Garage, they are new blood devs at Nintendo that Miyamoto himself trained and put together. Splatoon is no Indie game, not that their is anything wrong with Indie games since I myself am an Indie dev.
Unless it’s like The Letter and similar nonsense…
zelda not #1? is this real life??
Xenoblade X is #1
Witcher looks pretty good, although I’ve never played any of the games in the series. What should I compare it to? Although my hype for Zelda U is definitely up to astronomical levels, and I’ll definitely get Xenoblade Chronicles X after playing Xenoblade Chronicles 3D. MGS and FF are definitely games I’ll watch on Twitch and wanna know how they are received because they look great. I’m splatooning in my pants right now.
This is totally more relevant nintendo news than any coverage on apex….
Witcher 3 does have my eye but does anyone have experience with the previous iterations? I’d like to know a little more.
Ah but Xenoblade Chronicles X is my most anticipated game of 2015 ^_^
My Top 5
1. XENOBLADE CHRONICLES X
2. The Legend of Zelda for Wii U
3.5. Possible new Metroid game
3. Star Fox for Wii U
4. Splatoon
5. Mario Maker
You clearly own all consoles :D
Looking forward to metal gear solid and uncharted 4. I may get new zelda game. Will see closer to the time :-)
Mgs will be awesome, uncharted for me doesnt look good from the recent trailer I saw, it looks boring.
Pre-ordered MGS :D I can understand Uncharted. I need to play it myself I think.
My list!
1. Xenoblade Chronicles X
The Witcher series is mundane and downright nonsensical. Stories are obtuse and immoral from delusional writers. Everything else is good on that list.
F=ma.
You know it’s based off of a book series right…?
it hard to get into the witcher. am glad it was for free on xbox live.
It’s good to see Zelda U at #2, even though I would rank it miles ahead of anything else coming this year.
Why? You hardly saw any gameplay & the gameplay that was shown was off-screen and 4 mins long.
Exactly, only 4 mins off screen gameplay shown and people are extremely excited for it. I rank it number 1 as well cause that game looks EXTREMELY promising and fantastic just from what we saw of it.
Sounds like Witcher 3 is something I should rent before I buy. Would like to form my own opinion first though I wonder if I’ll feel lost if past iterations covered the story and this is the continuation.
Witcher 1 is definitely tough to play nowadays, it had a pretty bad combat system and stuff all things considered. I started 2, and it didn’t really affect my gameplay. They aren’t direct sequels from what I gather
No Starfox? Bunch of fucking psychopaths…
Maybe because we haven’t seen anything from it yet…
If the new fire emblem come out this year it’s easily my #1! But if not then here’s my top (on wii u/3ds)
#7 Legend of Zelda Majora’s Mask
#6 Mario Maker
#5 Xenoblade Chronicles 3D
#4 Star Fox U
#3 Code Name Steam
#2 Xenoblade X
#1 Zelda U
Geez, why the heck is everyone hating on The Witcher? That series is like the epitome of Low Fantasy storytelling. Like people are saying it’s nonselsical and immoral and stuff – that’s how it’s supposed to be. You cant compare it to something like Zelda of Final Fantasy because those are both High Fantasy – there’s a big difference. They’re almost 2 entirely different genres, even if they’re both fiction. High Fantasy is more about magic and elves and wizards and stuff, classic examples being The Lord of the Rings and The Chrinicles of Narnia. Low Fantasy is much darker and subdued, it depicts essentially real life (in the Dark Ages in the case of the Witcher) with some magical twists to it, examples here being a bit more modern: The Dresden Files is the best one I can think of. The biggest influence of Low Fantasy is definitely the dark legends like Beowulf and stuff.
So yeah, don’t confuse the two. It’s a different kind of storytelling, just because it’s not what you’re used to doesn’t make it bad
They are God zealots, that’s why they hate it…
*Zealots of the Abraham God…
And what’s that supposed to mean?
That’s why some of them hates the game?…
A zealot is pretty much what the Islamic terrorists are.
Here are my top 5…
1. Xenoblade Chronicles X
2. The Legend of Zelda (tentative title for Wii U)
3. Splatoon
4. Mario Maker
5. Devil’s Third
You make the empire proud as always comrade…
No Star Fox? =(
no pics, no trailers.. nothing about it yet so it’s kind of difficult to hype over it
I think the Witcher 3 is over hyped. Don’t get me wrong though, I am very much looking forward to that game, and it is on my top ten list. But I am going to tell you now, the Witcher 3 better at least be as good a Skyrim or people are going to hammer it on the reviews. In Skyrim you could pick up every single item, craft weapons, and do so many fun things. The freedom of stealing from peoples home, and becoming a good guy or a bad guy was amazing.
If the Witcher 3 does not satisfy people’s lust for freedom, and nails all of the in game items to the ground, or does not allow weapon crafting, etc. etc. people will become upset with this game. And that is why I think it is over hyped. I do not think the Witcher 3 will be better, or even as good as Skyrim was. And when people slowly start to figure this out, they will come down hard on this game, simply because it is over hyped.
Personally even if Witcher 3 doesn’t turn out all that great I still have tons of respect and will support the developer. CD Projekt Red have spoken out on things that most AAA devs would never say, like their refusal to make paid DLC. It’s made me like them a whole lot as a developer studio
While Witcher 3 is trying to be a bit more open world than the previous title, it doesn’t mean it’s trying to be like Skyrim. It will still be a story-driven game. I respect CD Projekt RED as they seem to be one of the few bigger devs that still respect their audience, and part of that is making a game for that specific audience and not try to please everyone.
I really don’t get why Zelda U is always on top of lists. We know nothing except that it’s a Zelda game and it’s open world.
And no, it doesn’t look ”promising”, people just believe it will be good because it’s Zelda.
The open world they’ve shown us so far is empty, and lacks variety. Gameplay looks like any other Zelda game, plus jumping off a horse to shoot arrows.
Now I’m not saying it won’t be great, but they’ve showed us nothing that implies it WILL be great. With this little info on the game, people shouldn’t hype up the game so much to say it’s the most hypeworthy game of the year.
People are hyped for Zelda because it is a proven franchise. Like the Elder Scrolls, or the GTA series. Also it is the first true open world Zelda.
If Rockstar comes out and says, GTA 6 will be released soon, will you get hyped? Most people will, and without having to see a preview of the game. Simply because of the developers track record, we know the game will be amazing.
And if you knew anything about Zelda, you would know this game will not lack variety. Just because you did not see variety in a 30 second clip from an unfinished game means nothing.
And it’s not that I’m not familiar to the franchise. There are only 3 games in the franchise I haven’t played. MM, TP and FS. Other than those the Zeldas I played didn’t really have much variety in world design. There were obligatory grassy/rocky fields and only dungeons stood out. And that’s understandable since they’re not that big, and WW wasn’t truly open world. But this game will need more variety than past games to not disappoint, since it will be a true open world title.
Almost all Zelda games have a grassland area, a mountainous area, a snow covered area, a desert area, some have a swampland area, graveyards, forest area, etc. etc.. How can you say Zelda doesn’t have variety? And by the looks of the world map, this new Zelda will be no different.
Not to mention every single dungeon has it’s own theme.
No, you don’t know it’s going to be good just because it’s Zelda. Zelda is a hit or miss kind of franchise. And they’ve shown us nothing promising. Open world looks empty. Battles didn’t seem to have improved much. And you’re just saying of course they will be better. Assuming is never healthy.
But see, that is just your opinion. I do not believe Zelda to be a hit or miss franchise. The world will not be empty, it was clear the developers were simply showing how Epona worked, and how big the world would be. And the world is huge. You have no justification to call the world empty from such a small sample you saw. That would be like calling the Super Bowl empty because you saw one empty seat.
I wanted to add this.
Skyrim was such an amazing experience, it’s gonna be hard for anyone to ever top that game.
Think about GTA 5. No other open world “city” game will be able to top that game for a long time. Probably until GTA 6. And every game that tries is simply labeled a GTA clone, and thrown to the side. Just look at watch dogs as an example.
You can say the same thing about Skyrim and “fantasy” open world games. It’s going to be extremely hard to top that game, and if a game falls short, it too will be tossed to the side..
Very different experience. I dont really like to compare jrpg to wrpg but wrpg lack imagination. All of those games stuck on medieval era and the same thing over and over.Compare witcher, skyrim, oblivion, dragon age and now compare xenoblade, final fantasy, dragon quest, and see the difference.
Now look at xenoblade, now thats a fantasy.
Completely agreeing woth you. What I don’t like about WRP’s is that they almost always have the same atmosphere. Middle age, knights, magic, dragons, grasslands and mountains. Too many similarities in world design. And their stories aren’t the most original either. Always based around the ”legends” of a warrior or a world. There are way too many games like that.
My list is very different, but that is to be expected. I am surprised the new Fire Emblem isn’t on this list.
Fox… such an unknown, how can people not be anticipating this one? Might be the first to really utilize the gamepad with the full gyroscopic possibilities
1. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt YES
2. The Legend of Zelda Wii U YES
3. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain YES
4. Uncharted 4 FUCK NO same shit than the previous ones that weren’t even that good
5. Bloodborne YES
6. Batman: Arkham Knight YES
7. Final Fantasy XV why not
8. No Man’s Sky YES
9. Persona 5 YES
10. Xenoblade Chronicles X YES
Good job Game Trailers people. For me, Zelda would have been first and Xenoblade and P5 higher on the list and Milkcharted 4 would be replaced by Fire Emblem ( if it’s due 2015 ) or Gravity Rush 2 ( if it ever comes out ), but other than that, good stuff.
Also, FF XV out and The Division instead.
