Ok this is interesting, according to Sakurai's liner notes, they can't sell the Smash soundtrack due to rights issues pic.twitter.com/ks0Xfuiz71

An interesting notice has been spotted on the Super Smash Bros soundtrack that confirms that it can not be sold to retailers due to rights issues. The Super Smash Bros soundtrack is free for those who register both the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U versions of Super Smash Bros via Club Nintendo.
Thanks, MasterPikachu6

Can’t wait to get it in March!
Lol I had to buy Smash Bros for Wii U just so I can get this. I don’t even have a Wii U yet :(
lol thats what I did with the 3ds version.
i still dont have my copy yet are they intentionally trolling us in britain?
Wait, the music disc? They haven’t been sent out yet.
Well nintendo doesnt know we have friends and there is craigslist :p
Not everybody has friends, and not everybody has friends who share your interests in Nintendo games, or video games in general since some places are tougher to come across to types of people, and even if you have friends whose interests are relevant to yours (Nintendo games, not who you like), they still probably wouldn’t know about a Craigslist, munchkin.
“Not everybody has friends.” Forever alone :(
No, I am not alone forever! My 3DS is my friend. It always lets me play with it, and it’s so fun, feels so good. We are true best friends. When I play with it in public, I will defend both of us when people have something bad to say to us. It is always there for me when I wake up. I know things are getting serious when the 3D effect goes all the way up, just as my own effect goes all the way up.
… Interesting I guess xD
Mmmmm…..it’s much MUCH more than interesting. There’s more to see, farther along the way than the depth of 3D you’ll ever see.
To bad. I’m gonna sell it to some dumb fuck on eBay for a high price.
Would do that if I were you, pluto puncher, the CD is needed in your home, you have to let it get used to it on there, and then shall prices be negotiable but not in the way that you’d sell that.
so nobody can put in on ebay nintendo is becoming clever
We will reclaim all lot resources…
does that include banjo :P
or is it beyond saving xD
Everything corrupted is lost forever…
Banjo is dead with Conker so there is no saving them.
Watch me. There’s ways to sell items on eBay without being caught.
Your reading skills need a lot of work.
That’s cool… but I’m sure people will still sell this for like 5000$.
What really sucks is that I bought Smash 3DS when it launched but I got the Wii U version 2 days after the deadline for the soundtrack deal… -_-
at least you have a limited edition 3DS you potato
I’m sorry. I’ll play my soundtrack extra loud though so maybe you can hear it. XD jk that sucks.
Mr. Krabs: The way I see it there are 3 possibilities of how that’s bullshit; 1. You sold it. 2. You SOLD it or 3. YOU SOLD IT! XD (Wii U I mean)
Anyway, I thought the deadline was before February for both CD and Mewtwo.
I’ll probably sell my copy but not for a ridiculous price. I’ll probably sell it at $20 highest.
Videogame music is very expensive. At $20 you’re ripping yourself off.
Speak for yourself.
Oh well they didn’t even put the best DKTF music in the gane anyway or Returns like Palm Tree Groove or Irate Eight or Irate Eight Chase. Or Snowmad. I was hoping for those soundtracks. How come they haven’t thought about a soundtrack combination of Returns and Tropical Freeze?
returns didn’t have a very grand sound track, but tropical freeze yes
because the obvious alludes them. Is jungle japes at least on it?
YouTube? lol
I own both games but living in Sweden makes it impossible to register them.
Is there a difference between the depth of 3D you see between the New 3DS and old 3DS?
Yep
Big difference?? Cuz I have a normal 3DS and idk if it’s worth getting an XL. I wanna know if the 3D difference is enough.
I didnt even want the sound track. I just happened to own a 3ds and wii U AND wanted to play with family members because they didnt have a 3ds or the money to buy the games $40 a piece. I’ll probably sell it on ebay or Craigslist.
But will Club Nintendo members who ordered the CD’s will still get them?
Hey Collector, I got your hands on MM 3DS or Monster Hunter 3DS? Cuz you collect?
Yes and in other news, Thanos is coming after your ass for the Infinity stones. lol
Correction: Infinity Stone. The Collector ony has Aether. Unless Adam Warlock, sealed up inside his cocoon as part of The Collector’s collection, has an Infinity Stone already in his possession that is.
I usually record my own CD’s for Smash Bros. games whenever I unlock all of the music. So the official Club Nintendo CD’s are just an extra bonus.
Well duh! Because there’s YouTube so WTF is the point of trying to sell them? lol
Maybe people LIKE YOU, EXCEPT YOU LIKE PHYSICAL GAMES OVER DIGITAL, WELL, SAME WITH THEM, A MUSIC IS A MUSIC, TREAT IT EQUAL TO A GAME YOU BLOW-CARROT
WTF are you talking about? lol
I think what he is trying to say is since you prefer physical copies of your games instead of digital, you should treat your music the same way??? 😕
I thought that was a reply to ME at first (since I also prefer physical games over digital). And I thought they were CRAZY!
That makes no fucking sense. I listen to digital formatted music now. WTF plays CDs on the go anymore? That tech is ancient history just like beepers, flip phones and even a Yo-yo for god’s sake. lol
You’re right about that. Digital is the only way to go for music! :3
Besides, why is that smartass comparing music to video games anyway? lol Two different worlds for different purposes in entertainment.
It actually has to do with the cost of licensing hundreds of songs that are probably no registered through a service like ASCAP so each contract would have to be renegotiated for a different usage other than in game music. That would me mean having to negotiate a contract with the original company who produced it, possible the original composer (depending on country or if it was originally work for hire) and than the new composer who redid the song, its not worth selling it for them.
It would be a better idea for Nintendo to launch their music service for their soundtrack which they’re releasing in iTunes mostly and same goes for TV/Videos like Nintendo Video can be their version of YouTube sharing gameplay videos without that copyright BS.
The problem with Smash some of the music is 3rd party games so they don’t own that music (much like Earthbound), and Youtube has been a huge can of worms for google, just search Youtube and Viacom (which is owned partially by Sony).
I would still like to see more done with content for video with their own service. The whole Pokemon TV being only on Tablets is a miss opportunity for them.
They need to embrace more on their console gaming. It’s like they’re slowly phasing out for the purpose of mobile and I REALLY don’t want to see that happen.
No, I don’t want to see mobile happen either, since its pretty much destroyed many of good companies (ie Capcom, Hudson/Konami, Sega, Square).
I don’t think they are going mobile, despite what a few sites would have you believe. The Pokémon company has always done computer and mobile adventures for many years. And Nintendo has sold music albums since the SNES days, just iTunes (and Amazon) didn’t exist then. I dont think much has changes, I was surprised they didn’t make the Pokemon TGS game for both Wii U and Tablet making them cross compatible online, again another miss opportunity to bring users back to the console. But its not purposely driving customers toward mobile, its just an oversight.
I know what you mean. I think they’re aiming to use mobile as a marketing tool to draw out more awareness for their systems but they need to do more while not succumbing to make games for smart phones which will be a big mistake.
I think they know that making mobile games would gut their business, they make more from the VC service than could make with mobile. Hopefully they get it together.
They are pretty much the last healthy arcade style game company.

I’m sure licensing for some songs, especially third party ones from Sonic and Pac-Man, are a nightmare. I honestly doubt the soundtrack would be all that popular if it was sold in stores rather than a gift for buying both CDs. It was a good way to convince people to get both copies, I think it served its purpose. Hopefully everyone that did want it claimed it! I just can’t wait for Mewtwo!
