  1. Never heard about most of these games. And from what I’ve heard Destiny kinda sucked. The story was all over the place and stuff was cut out. Meh. Best Best Handheld/Mobile Game should have been Pokémon ORAS. Why was there even an debate there. lol

      1. Brav3ly default was released in 2013, but Pokemon ORAS was released 2014. And bravely default isnt really that much better than pokemon.

        1. If you really want ti be anal about it then here: BD was actually released in 2012 in Japan.

I agree with Shuhei, BD should’ve taken the award, overall better game and actually innovative unlike Pokemon ORAS, If I had my way though, I would chose Fantasy Life over any other handheld game but that’s just me.

        1. You’re not fresh anymore. Then again, you never were. Still using the three dots after every sentence. You’re so lame, dude.

          1. Nintendo Elite Commander Quadraxis

If I wanted your irrelevant opinion, I would have abducted you in both this Virtual Reality and in the Real Realm…

            Now go home Xbot…

          1. Nintendo Elite Commander Quadraxis

Really? You of all people lower yourself to a troll level?…

            Be my guest…

      2. You petty coat is showing. A Sony fan on a Nintendo website trying to down play Hoenn lol! I guess when sack boy is your only mascot, the best you can do is hate on greatness that does not wait wait wait, disorder 1886 wait wait……

        F=ma.

        1. Let’s see. The graphical style was terrible (I’m not even complaining about the 3DS’s hardware, I just mean the 3D-sprite style of the game). The overworld design was kept blocky like the original Ruby/Sapphire when this was a remake and that’s something that should’ve been fixed. There were only 3-5 Pokemon on each route compared to X and Y’s 7-10 per route (again, remake, this should’ve been updated). And last, and my biggest point, the game was too god damn easy, even without the EXP share. They made it even easier than the originals. Prime Example: the cave on Dewford island.

          1. -Able to catch almost every non event legendary Pokemon in-game.
-Hordes and Blissey bases make it extremely easy to EV train and level up Pokemon.
-IV judge and Pokemon Day Care around the same area.
-Online features from X and Y.
-All mega stones from X and Y including new ones.
            -Delta Episode
Omega Ruby didn’t suck to me. I find it better than X. Only thing I like more about X was the character customization.

    1. Destiny won in technology, can still suck. Actually Destiny didn’t really suck, it just failed to live up to it’s insanely blown up hype.
And Monument Valley is just truly a gem. I don’t know if I agree on throwing so many awards at it, but anyways, it’s supersimple design with kinda complex mechanics and superaccessible with a visualdesign that would cause every graphicdesigner wet dreams.

What’s bugging me though about these awards is, that 2014 was such an embarrassing year for the industry except Nintendo. While so many Studios failed to come after their stupid hype balloons, throwing out half baked, underwhelming software like
      Driveclub
      Alien Isolation
      Watchdogs
      AC:Unity
      Destiny
and many more, Nintendo delivered with every piece of software. And they get nothing for that. So sure, it’s a bit unfair, but still, it’s not really an audience-driven award.

    2. Destiny did not suck, it was reslly fun. The only issue is that it was overhyped, so some gsmers were underwhelmed.

  2. Why do people worship Hearthstone so much? I tried it. I even spent money on getting more decks. But was so bored of the repetition and lack of charm I quit after a week.

    1. I’m not even joking, but there are people, specifically my brother, who CRAVE anything made by Blizzard. I’m not saying it’s a bad game or anything (I can tell it’s good, but it’s not my type of game) but it’s mainly so popular because it’s a card game BY Blizzard… (If it wasn’t made by Blizzard and was the same game, just different characters, probably no one would be talking about it)

  3. sounds like this award show sucked major balls. ssb and hyrule warriors will tople any of those titles mentioned, hand’s down!

    1. Bluh bluh huge bitch

Personally I found Dragon Age: Inquisition incredibly underwhelming. It was essentially everything bad about the Elder Scrolls and nothing good about any of said games, shoved into a different franchise.

  4. Let’s be fair, Nintendo can’t win everything. It’s perfectly possible for them not to receive a single award, especially because criteria for what passes as the best isn’t the same for every judging entity. But as Anonymous said above, I’ve heard a lot of complaint about Destiny, and Pokemon ORAS would be a better fit for that category.

Knowing how prize awarders seem to be afraid of showing Nintendo a bit of love, fearing their audience will leave if they do, such is the trend to hate on Nintendo, it isn’t weird to be a bit skeptical regarding those awards where Nintendo doesn’t show up in any category. But, again, we don’t know what criteria were taken in consideration, and the selection might have been completely impartial and fair.

  5. Hironobu Sakaguchi got a lifetime achievement award, so I’m not complaining. “Pokemon ORAS should have won best handheld game.” Er…well it’s more worthy than any mobile game, I guess. I didn’t think it was that strong of a Pokemon title, I just don’t like Hoen.

  6. …I dunno. Generally I don’t like games released at the end of the year claiming GoTY or any awards for whatever current year they’re in, but I just don’t see how Bayonetta 2 didn’t get anything. Oh well Whatever I don’t need the games I love to be ego stroked by these things. Fans do that enough lol

    1. But the games you love do get “Ego stroked” in REAL game awards. This one just happens to be a farce, and obviously made to please and entertain their anti-Nintendo audience.

  7. Best Audio: Alien Isolation… REALLY?! WHAT ABOUT DKC:TF!!! ;_; Too bad it came out too early in 2014, because probably no one remembered it by the end of the year…

    1. Dude, you have to understand, this is not a REAL awards show. It’s a damn homegrown, anti-Nintendo, joke of an awards show. I would not get so worked up about a couple of haters making a fake awards show..

          1. Well, to be honest, probably most of them haven’t even PLAYED the games made by Nintendo, and I’m guessing these awards are mainly judged by popularity…

      1. If you haven’t played it, don’t knock it. The level of graphical detail from Bungie in this game is insane

          1. The award was for Best Technology. It has EVERYTHING to do with graphics, whether you care or not

            1. Nintendo Elite Commander Quadraxis

The gameplay of Alien Isolation in terms of technology is still better than the shallow graphical ones of Destiny…

  8. Seeing Monument Valley getting all this praise and glory from a variety of reviews and awards and shit makes me want to try it. Had my eye on it before it was made to be so ‘fantastic’, but every review on the Play Store says it’s too short and not worth the money because of it.

  9. Shadow of Mordor, game of the year? That’s really funny. Nothing original, a mix of gameplay mechanics that already exist.

I go play Bayonetta 2, bye bye

      1. I’ve played Shadow Of Mordor on PC and it is a great game but it’s not better than Bayonetta 2.

  10. The GDC’s awards have turned into a stupid circlejerk hugbox for the hipster indie click that yells “harrasment” at every turn.
Nintendo and any other developer is better off not dealing with this crap.

    1. Yeah. Now it went from being like a E3/Comic Con for Developers to know being a indie party where the devs are entitled over everything and as you said harassed. It also didn’t help that Tim Schafer mocked minorities with a sock puppet.

      1. Might be one of the worst indie parties out there, those awards can be a bit of a joke. And Tim Schaffer threw himself under the bus… yet again. I hope this one bites him in the ass for longer though.

  11. This is so bullshit, considering 2014 was of Nintendo’s biggest years game-wise. Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros., even Shovel Knight (not created by Nintendo, but still a Wii U/3DS title)

  12. I know Nintendo doesn’t have to win every category, that wouldn’t be fair. But it’s obvious to me whatever people picked these are fucking pricks who only favour violent games and westaboo poop and anything Nintendo related to them is “childish”. Boo hoo. Where’s most FUN game? I’m sure Nintendo would have won that category by miles.

  13. It’s curious not to see MK8 or Bayonetta 2 somewhere in there but oh well, they’ve both received their share of awards.

    1. *Sorry for the double post, I was logged out and only realised while the comment was being posted…

  14. Just now they did their Game Of The Year? A bit late isn’t it? Most people do GOTY in December, since last year has been over for awhile. Also best audio, should be DKC: TR NO QUESTION.
