Take a look at this week’s Japanese charts thanks to Media Create, albeit a little bit later than usual. Nintendo are doing well, dominating most of the chart and taking up the top 5 spots, with the top 3 being new entries. Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition launched this week and jumps straight in at the top spot, selling 180,000 units. Xenoblade Chronicles X for the Wii U finally arrives, maybe lower than anticipated, in at number 3 selling 85,000 units. Paired with Dragon Quest X: Legend of the Ancient Dragon Online, they pushed Wii U sales up from 7,000 last week to a whopping 23,000 this week. The rest of the new entries are taken by the PlayStation Vita which takes up most of the rest of the top 10. Here are the charts for you to take a look at yourself, and see what you think:

Is it just me or did Wii U get a jump in sales. :)
Xenoblade in HD will do that lol
Dragon Quest, that’s the reason.
I wonder if that japanese federal law prohibiting Square-Enix to release DQ games in weekdays is still on.
It is. But only if they come with a numbered entry XD
WOW!! That’s a HUGE leap!!
Don’t you know, the Wii U is a sinking ship😉.
I can say the same thing about the Vitanic is a sinking ship. The home console and portable system are no longer the case, caped crusader.
Why are they all going to just break and be unusable? No. It plays games, some pretty fantastic ones. No, it does not sell well. Do you only buy what is popular? Good luck with that.
Great comments from great gamer. I like it
Why did the Vita suddenly start selling decently?
Vita has always done well in Japan. In fact, it has recently dropped from the normal.
What do you mean by dropped by the normal?
He means it was doing even better than it is now
For over a year it was holding steady around 20k per week in Japan. It is only recently that it has dropped below.
Is this the first time the Wii U has taken the top spot in Japan? Either way, good stuff. I hope it can hold on for a few weeks at least.
Not the first. Usually happens with big Wii U titles. I think the question is always, how long will this boost last before it drops down to 7k again?
>>>2 weeks is my prediction>>>
I’d say that is a good assumption with previous statistics.
this can’t be happening. :'(
>>>It will happen forever>>>
:'(
:)
:)
:) :)
You called?
It’s Xenoblade and Dragon Quest, of course it was going to sell decently well. It’s simple logic.
MEDIA CREATE (this chart was released two days late due to Golden Week) Highlights:
– Total 3DS hardware sales: 25948
– PazuZora SMB Edition’s first-week sales are about 67% of those of PazuDora Z
– Xenoblade X (sell-through of first shipment is about 70%) first-week sales are slightly higher than those of Xenoblade (Wii)
– Bravely Second and Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory II”s respective sales fell hard
– Wii U has a bump thanks to DQX v3 and Xenoblade X
– DQX v3 Wii version not listed (more below) because MC stopped tracking Wii software sales in its weekly charts at the start of 2015
Dengeki (released before this Media Create chart) highlights:
– DQX v3 Wii version ranked at number 4 with 79888 physical units
– The top 10 chart (without the above game) is the same as Media Create’s except that the places of the top two Vita games were switched and same case with Bravely Second and Girls Mode 3
– The 3DS Funassyi game by Success debuted at the 31st place
– Mario Kart 7 returns at the bottom 10 range of the top 50
– Hardware sales: 3DS 26976, Wii U 21106, PS4 20668, Vita 15613, PS3 4203, XB1 197
And Square Enix still overlooks the West with regard to Dragon Quest.
I believe they said they wanted to but the server costs was too much for them.
Ah… Didn’t know they acknowledge this matter before. Anyway, shouldn’t the JP servers sufficient for everyone? I mean, that could be a cheap excuse…
They have discussed it. Still, they haven’t localized some of the other DQ games that Japan has received apart from the MMO. The only one that we are getting is DQ Heroes, which isn’t a *true* or core DQ game.
That is awesome for Wii U. Xenoblade and Dragon Quest definitely helped out in a major way. Also, a dominate Top 5 in the Software charts for games on Nintendo Consoles. However, I do see Wii U numbers decrease for a few weeks, then Splatoon comes out and increases Wii U sales again. I just hope that the drop isn’t TOO significant.
Also, final thought. Holy geez, Iwata was right, Japan DO love Puzzles and Dragons. Imagine how well a Puzzle and Dragons X Pokèmon or Puzzle and Dragons X Monster Hunter, would sell…
Why do you fear too freaking much? It’s not the end of the world. Xenoblade Chronicles X is already selling better than Xenoblade Chronicles on the Wii and New Nintendo 3DS on its first week.
But, I’m, not, fearing, though…….
Also, Xbox One almost DOUBLED in sales this week, what an accomplishment. Sorry about that, I know I’m beating a dead Horse on the whole Xbox/Japan situation.
I’ll go show myself to the nearest exit……….

Console sellers selll consoles not hype.
Great news for Nintendo! How about a North American Xenoblade X release date please?
The Nintendo Treehouse will have an official release date announcement on Xenoblade Chronicles X next month at E3. It’s coming this year, Evil E… so be very patient.
Oh wow, a AAA open world RPG is selling units. What kind of sorcery is this?
Nintendo. Take note. This is what happens when you get games on your console. Too bad it had to be a company owned by Nintendo that made the game.
Very much agree. Next time Nintendo should lead the charge and not let others dictate their consoles at launch. Amen! Thank you Jesus.
F=ma.
WiiU At the top of the mountain. Reigning in the 3DS’ usual seat. Nintendo!!!!!
F=ma.
Nice to see it sell more than 6K for once. This is like an entire months sales in one week for the Wii U
… did I read it write???!!!! I am so pleasantly surprise that I wonder if the numbers are real. from 7K to 23K even for one week. that an increase of nearl 300% if I am not mistaken

With Style Savvy (Girls Mode) doing well in the charts, I still expect them to localize that game. It would be a huge wasted opportunity if they didn’t since the games do have a cult following here.
Style savvy wasn’t already released here or is this a new one?
There is a 3rd one that recently came out in Japan (the one that’s on the chart) and it’s still not in the West yet.
Square Enix take note. See Wii U owners want JRPGs which is why Kingdom Hearts 3 should be ported to the Wii U as so should Final Fantasy XV. Make it happen Square Enix or you’ll regret it big time
^Listen to this guy Square Enix.
Give us! Us Kingdom Hearts III! Give us! Us Kingdom Hearts III!
Of course JAPAN wants Japanese RPGs. But anyone outside of Japan that likes them needs therapy.
Square Enix doesn’t listen to fans, unfortunately.
Wait…..is this a typo? Don’t they mean 6k for Wii U? How could it go from 6k for weeks, clear to 26k?
