Counterfeit Amiibo Are Appearing Online

amiibo_fakes

It has begun. A number of counterfeit amiibo figures have already started to appear online including Pikachu, Mario, Link and Samus. These are apparently showing up in marketplaces across Brazil. The obvious thing is to make sure that you purchase amiibo figures from reputable websites and retailers that you trust.

Thanks, MasterPikachu6

  1. I’m still wishing for the day that someone starts to sell the NFC readers apart from the actual figures. I don’t really care about the figures, I care about the functions of the amiibos xD

Yo, is ya boy n I’m sellin D’z! Who tryna mess wit ma monies?
It real out chea cuz, I got dem Amiigoz fo da cheep!

    2. Kinda where I stand. Nintendo mentioned doing amiibo cards for the rarer amiibo and i’m 100% cool with that. Easier to store, hopefully comes with excellent art work and should be cheaper. Have figures for people who want functionality or just the figure, and cards for people who primarily want functionality and good art. Win Win.

          1. Eh just fuze the two together. ARmiibo. All functionality of both and you get a sweet 3D figure along with the sexy art. Even more Win for the Win sandwich.

      1. But those should just be called DLC cards. Calling them amiibo cards is an insult to amiibos.

        1. No they wouldn’t. Especially if they are cheaper, look great, and have standard amiibo content and functionality in them. Plenty of people love cards as much as figurines so there’s no reason one should be held above the other, especially if Nintendo did that whole card game idea I had and toss in some AR functionality.

Unless said amiibo cards come in packets with random amiibo cards & you end up with tons of Mario, Link, & Samus but barely any Marth, Robin, Shulk, etc, or none at all. Then it’s a lose lose…. since Nintendo is still sucking with the amiibo figures.

        1. Eh that is a possibility, but I’d argue to say they are “loosing” with amiibo is a stretch. People are too crazy and know no self restraint and it ain’t any company’s business to instill that into their consumers. That’s consumer responsibility.

The only reason we have an amiibo shortage as severe as it is, is because people latched onto unfounded rumors that they wouldn’t be re-stocked and are just buying them like beanie babies. All them purchases are profits for them so really they’re winning and fans are loosing due to… well… themselves.

    3. But….. if the fake work like the real amiibo….then why care? Especially for discontinued or hard to get amiibo, I just hope the quality is good.

    1. The sad part is that they look nowhere near as good as the official ones actually. How could you ever get tricked unless Maybe if you had never seen one before but still, the fake ones look like crap.

    1. Learn what lesson? That people stupidly will buy anything? They already know that.

At worst this will calm down the dumbasses who want to collect ’em all, ruin scalpers for people who just want figures and allow people who actually like amiibo functionality and figures to actually get things they like without some ass gobbler trying to make a buck or run off compulsive collect ’em all syndrome.

  2. Welp… can’t blame the Brazilians, Nintendo hates them. Them and all us Latin Americans. But they hate Brazilians more, bring in the counterfeits.

    1. Yup, as sad as it makes me, Nintendo really hates Latin America, we never had a chance at club Nintendo, and games in Spanish didn’t got here till 2008 whereas in Europe they were available since the GBA

    2. Ridley 4 Smash DLC!

Don’t worry. Nintendo hates everyone, except Japan 90% of the time, equally so you are all not alone.

  3. They look pretty good actually but something can always look good at first glace until you inspect more closely

  4. Huh? I can’t tell the difference? Eh, it’s not like it really matters anyways since I’m not buying these things anymore. Lol.

  5. I blame the Brazilian Government for having their tax rates way too high for the gaming industry… seriously, they have to pay twice as much if not more for their stuff because the Brazilian Government wants those dollar dollar bills.

    1. Nintendo Tetrarch Quadramus-NX

      >>>I blame all human governments, because they are all incompetent, primitive and useless>>>

  6. What did I tell you guys before in the post about Brazil? Pirated Amiibo are here. It’s mainly Nintendo’s fault tho. Make more so people don’t have to pay 50 bucks for them.

        1. Oooooh~ Okay my bad. That’s Brazillian government issues though right? I’ve been hearing how they are not really great with anything gaming related since last gen

          1. It’s bad enough that the real ones cost 50 bucks, but people are gonna buy these fakes thinking they’ll work when they are just empty toys.

            1. Well that is bad I agree, but mostly whenever I hear people bitching about amiibo it’s either “I only want the figures, no one cares about amiibo content! MAKE MOAR NAAAO!!!! ” or “Ugh they’re so dumb and they’re for kids or man children.”

So for just the collectors and those that don’t care this is good. But I do understand your point and do hope something helpful can be done for those who really want actual amiibo and amiibo content.

    1. And they don’t actually work. Just so you guys know. Another seller mentioned it’s only for collection. lol

  7. I just find it sad that there are other people (probably a company) that can recreate amiibo (minus the chips) and supply stock, yet Nintendo, the official, multi-million company, can’t restock amiibo other then the ones no one want.

      1. Then that pretty much means Sony is the same… the PS4 is a console like the Wii U so basically you’re saying that Sony is a toy company now.

    1. But then again, that’s Blackb0ndage… no one smart enough would give a rat’s ass about his biased opinions.

  8. Well as far as build quality, it looks to be on par with Nintendo. If they have NFC built in, they could pass for actual amiibo.

  9. Will you be proud showing your collection and saying, ” here’ my complete amiibo set, they’ re all fake.”

  10. At least they don’t look as awful as some of the stuff back when Pokémon got big. Those counterfeits were plentiful and terrible. These at least look half-decent I guess. I wonder if they actually function though.
