Nintendo Has Decided To Postpone The First North American Splatfest

Nintendo has taken to Tumblr to announce that they have sadly decided to postpone the first North American Splatfest. The company says that the decision was made when they discovered a matchmaking bug during the first Japanese Splatfest. The matchmaking issue resulted in abnormally long wait times and they are busy working on a solution. Nintendo says they will announce a new date soon.

Unfortunately, a matchmaking issue was discovered in the first Japanese Splatfest that resulted in long wait times and players unable to join matches. We have been working on a solution but will need a little more time to resolve the issue. In order to ensure that fans have the best possible experience and can enjoy the fun they’ve come to expect from Splatoon, we have decided to postpone the first North American Splatfest. We’ll have details on a new date soon!

Thanks, Ciaran, Justicist, Migue137, Sam S and David

  1. My guess is that there were unbalanced teams, like there was a heavy amount on one team and not much on the other thus matchmaking wasn’t going to be possible. I heard that Japan had an enormous amount of players siding with The rice team than the bread team. No surprise if that was the same case in America with team Cat and team dog. The times I saw people pledging in the central, it was terribly outnumbered that people sided with cats and very few (like 2 people, 3 with myself) sided with dogs.

I had suspicions that there was a chance it’d get canceled or delayed, but then again I’m not sure this was exactly the reason, just an assumption. It’s really sad since I had been looking forward to this event :(

    1. ive seen a lot more dog posts than cats, honestly i think the teams were rather even. Also I didn’t know that it teams ypu up with similar voters.

  3. This is actually good news for me- I work all weekend and would have missed it, or at least most of it.

Go Team Cats, by the way.
