This year’s E3 has been an interesting one for Nintendo. They showcased a number of titles that have received a mix reactions from the fanbase including Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival and Metroid Prime: Federation Force. GameSpot caught up with Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime to discuss the games that were revealed and also get his impression of E3.
Reggie Talks About The Nintendo E3 2015 Digital Event, Fan Reactions, And More
I’ve actually settled down since the event. There’s plenty of wii u games coming in the next few months and that’s what matters. I’m sure they’ll announce more new games in the coming months.

And XCX seems to be a huge letdown based on the comments from Japanese gamers. Not a surprise it’s been outperforming in Japan.

I have a Japanese mechine and do not know much of Japanese actually. XBX has terrible character 3d models just exactly the same as the former xenoblade game is. The music has too much human vocal and is sometimes annoying.
The story however is very good indeed, if you are patient enough to play to about Chapter 8 or 9.
The other aspects, in my opinions, are just like other japanese RPG games, boring and interesting as they always are (complex systems, large number of interesting and dull side quests… etc)

Sounds like Xenoblade Chronicles…I can’t wait! I love that game!
Xenoblade has always been a game that some people love, others hate. This type of reaction to Xenoblade X is actually a good sign. It means it has not been casualized, which was one of my biggest fears for the game.
Xenoblade is not for everyone. Thats why you see the mixed reactions. But I can fully assure you that it will be the best jrpg on the Wii U, and probably the best jrpg of the entire generation…. Maybe of all time…
Did you see the treehouse live Fatal Frame segment. It’s the only treehouse live segment I bothered to watch. That game looks really good minus the graphics. They’re not as bad as start fox but they’re not great either. The gameplay looks excellent though. I only watched a little bit then turned it off cause I didn’t want to spoil too much, but that’s a day 1 buy for me.

Every Fatal Frame game has a great look yes graphics/art style count. And Starfox looks great.
I really don’t understand all of the hate about Starfox Zero’s visuals. What people don’t understand is that the footage at the Direct was definitely pre-alpha because GameXplain showed footage that looked much better. One thing I know about big scaled games that are developed by Miyamoto, he makes sure those games are at their best quality-wise and looking great so the graphics will end up looking even better than what they do now. The game looks fine to me but I can that Nintendo isn’t done tweaking it up
It really needs SOME kind of multiplayer, otherwise, I have faith Platinum’s touch will make it awesome.
If that’s the case, the Direct should have really pointed that shit out.
I don’t know what Treehouse you watched but the one I saw showed that Fatal Frame: Maiden Of Black Water was easily one of the best looking games on the Wii U. That game along with Fast Racing Neo is proof that a lot of 3rd parties were full of shit in regards to how capable the Wii U truly is

Magical is something like SuperMetroid and Metroid Prime Trilogy, that is magical on its pure form.
Good to hear though that people are excited about SFZero, i hope it does well critically and commercially atleast that game is finally true to what the series is about.

Good interview by Justin Haywald but I think he could have pressed Reggie a bit more. There were 2 Wii U titles announced at E3, when should we expect to see more?
I personally would have asked him if North America was ever going to get the standard New 3DS. A lot of 3DS games (especially older ones) look like trash on the XL. The standard New 3DS will be the definitive version imo. Plus faceplates are awesome!

In a different light, I guess you’re right. It just feels irritating because these shortcomings kind of make me feel like those rumors of Nintendo giving up on the Wii U and moving resources to the NX might be true. I don’t know about anyone else but I had known that I was only going to buy about 10 games for my Wii U I would’ve waited till it was cheaper. Or even better if the NX was BC I would’ve skipped over the Wii U completely.

I bought xonoblade and it says new 3ds only, but it doesn’t work on mine and it’s only 6 months old. I don’t understand why your 3ds has to be brand new for it to work! Surely they can release a patch. Anybody else had this problem?

I always thought that the Wii U is very underrated. It has a fanstastic and creative range of games. W101, Pikmin 3, DKC: TF, 3D World, MK8, SSB4, Rayman Legends, Lost World, WW HD, Nintendo Land, Splatoon.
I think Nintendo should just take a page from Sony’s book… maybe a couple pages…. and BE more like Sony. Better online infrastructure, more powerful consoles, more exclusivity deals with any partner they can get their hands on, making a big splash at E3 and other events, etc.
If Nintendo were Sony, but with their creative ingenuity still in tact while they make games, the Nintendo would be unstoppable. Nintendo could rule the gaming world… if they really wanted to.

I don’t see why they can’t offer a free version of online for cheapoes or people who just can’t afford it and then offer a premium membership who gets better online and cool exclusive eShop deals and whatnot. Kind of what Microsoft and Sony do only the cheapest version is still free.

Everybody might be disappointed at Nintendo for this year’s lackluster digital event (even I was). And many people might be saying that the PS4 and Xbone has more games etc. etc. BUT……for me, Nintendo still has the BEST games. A person can name about 10 games on competing consoles, and only 1 or 2 might be a tad interesting. The titles of competing console’s games don’t ring a bell and shout FUN and EXCITEMENT like Nintendo’s games usually does.
Take Mario for example. Everybody knows Mario (unless they’ve been living under a rock). You mention Mario, and instantly, everyone knows what to expect. A Happy, fun adventure in the mushroom kingdom (I’m not wording things as good as I want to). But you mention something like The Last Of Us, or Uncharted etc. And many people are like…what is that? My point: Nintendo has the best, mot well known and loved IP’s in the industry. And that’s why they’ll always be around. Despite all of the idiots that’s writing things like “R.I.P. Wii U” and “R.I.P. Nintendo”.
