UK Charts: Splatoon Hangs On At Number 9

Splatoon has been doing fairly well in the UK charts and has managed to retain its position at number nine amidst plenty of titles that are available on a number of platforms. While the game hasn’t set the UK charts on fire, it’s encouraging to see a game for the Wii U keep its position in the top ten. There weren’t any new entries this week, but on Friday we shall see the release of Yoshi’s Woolly World.

  1. I really didn’t expect Splatoon to hold onto the Top 40 (or in this case, Top 20,) for this long. Not because it’s a bad game, but because, well, this IS the U.K we’re talking about. Nice Job Splatoon.

  2. I’m surprised that Elder Scrolls online is still on top seeing the massive amounts of hate towards even the console version.

I guess people like unfinished messes of a game.

(I know the troll response is going to be “Splatoon is unfinished” but now that I said that they’ll most likely have another comeback that’ll just be plain stupid)

    1. Well it is a unfinished game we already know more then 33 weapons, 2 game modes and few more maps are on disc. So yes it is a unfinished game and should be getting the same crap we give other games.

  3. Gonna be honest…not really that big of a fan of this game. Don’t get me wrong, i liked it, it wasn’t bad, but does everyone think this game is so damn good?

    1. It’s fun short term. When I’m bored I turn it on and I’m instantly having fun for a couple of hours. In the beginning I was playing a lot, but I’ve slowed down because there aren’t many events happening. I was waiting for cats and dogs and it got delayed.

  4. The game is the best
U gotta understand that in the game you’re a kid and than you’re a squid.
    Squid and kid.

  5. I’m glad to see “Splatoon” having some success, sales wise. I had hopes, but I didn’t imagine it hanging around on the charts this long in Japan and the UK.

As far as the game goes, there are certainly some areas that could be improved. Being able to change weapons/equipment between matches instead of having to exit the lobby altogether would be nice. Also, allowing users to adjust the vertical sensitivity on its own is essential, since they decided to make the vertical look sensitivity so much higher than the horizontal. That way those of us used to dual analog controls don’t have to suffer on distance weapons.

As far as content goes, Nintendo needs to get the rest of the maps out and add the third slot to the map rotation. Too often I get stuck playing the same map over and over and over again (5 or 6 times in a row even). The game types that are already on the disc should be rolled out in the next few weeks, as well. “Splatoon” is at a big risk of becoming stale too early if they don’t get more content on the game.

If they can get the whole initial game out by the 1st of August or so, us US buyers who shelled $60 for the thing won’t feel so strung along. By that point, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to announce a Fall/Winter DLC to retain some the audience long-term.
