As a musician for close to 20 years now, I’ve always found it hilarious how it’s the people who have never touched an instrument a day in their life, are always the ones to talk so much shit about other peoples music. As if their opinion matters, when they have no concept of music, other than hearing it.

Even more amusing, seeing so many act like they could honestly sing better, or actually come close to even producing a song anything like this. Whether they like the music or not, is totally up to them, but to not even acknowledge the work that goes into any of it, shows you don’t really care too much about music to begin with.

People also have this moronic perception, that a computer just makes music for you. One reason why so many hate on Skrillex, simply because they have no understanding of all the programming that goes into his music, let alone any understanding of programming music in general. Again no one has to like it just because of that, but it does take a lot of work contrary to what everyone believes.

You don’t just buy a computer and a mixer, and everything in your production is already assigned to this mixer. You don’t just open up a music program like Ableton, Reaper, Cubase or Pro Tools, and just make this type of stuff easily. All they are is tools, tools that you have to figure out how to use, and they are very complex tools that can take a lifetime to fully understand. It isn’t even just understanding these instruments, programs, vst’s and hardware effects, you also have to make it all work together for the type of music you want to create.

I can at least respect Skrillex, I may not like a lot of his music, but he is humble. He also has a great appreciation for music in general.

I can take people saying they don’t like the music. But when people say it takes no talent or something along those lines, that is where I draw the line. As many of these people who say such stupid things, have no musical skills of their own to even be saying such nonsense.

Regardless if you loath how it sounds, or you cannot stand the people who made it. At least try to understand music on this level.

Now I’m not saying there aren’t crappy people out there who don’t even deserve the title of a musician, I’m just saying too many people have a very shallow perception of how music is made for the most part.
