Nintendo Wins Yet Another Patent Case Involving Nintendo 3DS And Other Nintendo DS Systems

On Aug. 4, 2015, Nintendo won a patent case in a federal court in Washington state, which marks two such wins in separate cases just a few weeks apart. On July 9, 2015, Judge Ricardo Martinez issued a ruling in the latest case that sided with Nintendo on 10 out of 10 disputed issues regarding the scope of the patent. The rulings led the patent holder, Secure Axcess, LLC, to agree that Nintendo’s well-known hand-held systems, including Nintendo 3DS XL, Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo DSi and Nintendo DS, do not infringe. Secure Axcess is a patent-assertion company that originally filed suit against Nintendo and 11 retailers of Nintendo products in a Texas court in January 2013. Since then the case was transferred to the Washington court, where it has now been dismissed.

“We are very pleased with the court’s rulings and outcome in this case, and will continue to vigorously defend our innovative products against patent lawsuits,” said Devon Pritchard, Nintendo of America’s General Counsel and Senior Vice President of Business Affairs.

In the case against Nintendo that was dismissed on July 17, a federal court judge found that eight of Nintendo’s popular hand-held systems, including the Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo DSi, Nintendo DS and Game Boy Advance systems, do not infringe a patent asserted against those products by Quintal Research Group, Inc.

      1. I am............ Batman!!!

They really are. Nintendo rarely loses a case, but they patent everything and usually have their own ideas.

Secure Axcess isn’t even in the console war. They havent designed anything. They’re just a VPN service.

    2. It amazes me that these patent companies exist in the first place. The only way they could exist is if they are profitable. And the only way they could be profitable is if they win lawsuits. So it’s actually the judicial system and dumb ass judges that keeps these patent companies alive…..

      Capitalism at its finest.

        1. Does it really matter? As far as I’m concerned, patents keep the world from evolving because certain companies want to fucking hog all of their ideas to their own crap & cry foul whenever someone tries to use it for other things to make people’s lives better and/or easier.

          >>>Because the empire won and it’s satisfying knowing that the Chattel Groups are nothing more than annoying flies>>>

          1. I am............ Batman!!!

Do you always talk like that? It makes you seem like some weird guy who gets no girls and lives in a basement with their mum.

              >>>I’m a superior life-form that doesn’t like humans and I don’t have a mother>>>

            2. Or he’s so busy that playing video games & being on the internet is the only times he can have fun so talks like that for the fun factor in pretending to be something that you can’t be in real life.

            3. And your avatar title reminds me of the George Clooney Batman movie, the only one where batman smiles and acts like…George Clooney.

Batman doesn’t say, “I am Batman!!” The explanation mark makes it sound like he’s enthusiastic. Again. Only George Clooney’s character did that, and it was the worst (but funniest) Batman movie made.

At least the Adam West Batman knew it was making fun of itself.

So, While we’re critiquing each other, fix your damn name! :]

                1. Even if some people don’t like your role playing, they should at least give you credit for staying in character.

                2. Win so good it had to be posted twice
These patents just keep on coming for some reason. It’s like these companies want to make fools of themselves

                3. I hope these Patent Trolls burn! I sure hope these companies get to pay damages, other than Nintendo’s lawyer fees, so they will learn their lesson.

Mark my words, when the NX comes out all these Patent Trolls will be coming out of the woodwork.
