The Game Awards 2015 Gets 2.3m Viewers And Is Likely To Return

Geoff Keighley’s Game Awards 2015 were an overwhelming success as they pulled in 2.3 million viewers. It wasn’t perfect but it was an entertaining show and is likely to be back next year. Geoff also announced that the top streaming platforms for the Game Awards 2015 were Twitch and YouTube.

“With the growth this year and all the sponsor support, I feel pretty confident we will be back next December for The Game Awards 2016,” he said.

“A tighter production technically, a shorter run time, and more on-stage awards,” Keighley said. “The format feels good, and it’s been nice to see the audience response — two solid years means we’re on the right path.”

“Next year will be about adding other elements around the show,” Keighley said. “One thing I wanted to do this year was a big eSports tournament the day of the show, but we just didn’t have enough bandwidth to get it done.”

    1. Between the Call-out against Konami, the tribute to Iwata and some appearances plus some games getting what they deserve (and the Joy of Splatoon defeating COD in Best Multiplayer and Shooter), I hardly disagree against your statement.

  1. Jaded Ridley X3 {I'm not whining, you suckers... *cough* ..poor souls! I've just been driven insane by Nintendo failing me one too many times this gen!}

    The Game Awards 2015 had the same problem as Nintendo’s E3 2015 Digital Event: they got too much hype because of how awesome they were the year before, so we expected too much this year.

    1. This wasn’t expecting too much- this year’s failures were on them. A combination of biting off more than they could chew, and them taking one step forward but then three steps back.

      How did they bite off more than they could chew? I believe you already know, but humor my explanation. Just look at Ultra Smash, amiibo Festival, and Triforce Heroes. Especially for the first two, you can tell they were rushed in various aspects in order to be out by the holiday season (US in an extreme lack of content compared to two prior games on N64 and Gamecube, and AF in that, well, everything in general was awful and it actually made the idea of using amiibo NOT fun).
