It is time for another end of year list and this time it comes from popular YouTuber, Boogie2988. You will be pleased to note that there’s a couple of Nintendo titles in the top fifteen including Super Mario Maker at number two and Splatoon at number four, both of which are on the Wii U. I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw these two games predominately feature on the various best of 2015 lists that are sure to come.
- The Witcher: Wild Hunt
- Super Mario Maker
- Fallout 4
- Splatoon
- Cities: Skylines
- Rocket League
- Halo 5
- Mortal Kombat X
- Bloodborne
- Until Dawn
- Ori and the Blind Forest
- Rockband 4
- Disney Infinity 3.0
- Heroes of the Storm
- Mad Max

Boogie knows where it’s at.
Why are we giving YouTubers this kind of credit again? I don’t see how they have any kind of authority, knowledge or position for their best of the year lists to receive this kind of media attention.
I agree…
I can understand where you’re coming from, but we YouTubers work hard…well, some of us do..
We bloggers work hard too, but we don’t half the coverage youtubers do.
really depends what you blog I guess. You could publish news about Minecraft Wii U for example. YouTubers would do the same thing I guess.
I don’t cover game news. It’s everywhere and I’m not about to repeat something that’s been done a hundred times already.
BUT YOU CAN MAKE IT “THE WONDERFUL 101!” lol
That’s more of a problem with blogs in general. Most people would rather watch a video review or video talking about games rather than reading about games. It’s really only blogs that post news like this site that have big followings (in terms of gaming blogs).
‘we writers work hard too, but we don’t (get) half of the coverage, moviemakers do.’
I don’t know about you in particular, but I’d rather read a well-thought essay on why did you picked your top candidates for game of the year than a cleanly edited video featuring gameplay clips and a voice-over describing what everyone already knows about the game, which is what most of these people do.
+1 I can’t stand videos.
I’d rather read a well written article over a bad written one and watch a well edited and produced video over abad one. Thing is, usually these things are different. At work or on the run I tend to read through articles and at home when sitting in front of the television or lying in bed watching stuff on the phone, I might be more into watching videos.
Well, obviously. I’m just saying that I generally find the content of articles much more interesting and well-thought than the content of your average YouTube video. I have nothing against the format (I have just watched GameXplain’s review for Fast Racing Neo), I’ m just disappointed about the quality of much of its content.
Same here. I understand that some people prefer videos because they show off gameplay while the person is talking, but they tend to be really long and I don’t have much time during the day to sit down and watch a long Youtube video on why someone thinks their games are GOTY :]. I have four kids so reading is usually much faster for me and I enjoy it more.
“This kind of media attention”
I dunno about you, but MyNintendoNews isn’t exactly IGN or Eurogamer massive. There have been far less informative and simple things thrown on here than this. This is just filler for a slow day, and when it’s a relatively large youtuber, both figuratively and literally, it can hold sway with people who enjoy him. He’s been a huge advocate for Nintendo in the past, and has his connections around the industries. He’s genuine when he wants to be and otherwise pretty funny. It’s hard to be funny nowadays apparently without your video ending in “its just a prank bro”, so I’d give him props for getting into that.
This kinda thing clearly isn’t your preference, so hey, whatever floats your boat; but that being said, the community is an important aspect in gaming for both the good and the bad, and I don’t see how a fairly reasonable top 15 list could be anything bad.
With “this kind of media attention” I’m implying that even this much is way too much. Besides, journalism is the same no matter how large the site is.
“This is just filler for a slow day”
And that’s my problem with it. If it’s a slow day, it’s a slow day.
I admit I know next to nothing about the guy (I did see some videos of his in the past, though) and I’m not talking about him in particular but about vlogers in general. My personal top of the year or your personal top of the year might be more informed and well-researched than his, so why is the top list of a completely Average Joe featured in an entry?
Grantedly, I am sure that entertaining people in YouTube for enough time to reach some level of notoriety is not a small feat, but it hardly qualifies him to talk about game design. He has every right to express his opinion and share it in a public platform, of course, but that doesn’t mean it should be given more value than it’s worth.
why should anybody care about this boogie guy’s top 15.
Francis! This guy is hilarious!
Disney infinity but not Undertale?
… humanity is dead.
>>>Xenoblade Chronicles X is my favourite this year by far>>>
>>>Now a well done Metroid game in this scope and darkness would make me loyal for eternity to the empire>>>
This is not newsworthy in the slightest. Not cool at all .
That’s a great list! I agree with most of em especially Witcher 3 and Heroes of the Storm.
