We found out today from Alison Rapp that she had been let go from Nintendo of America, but the circumstances surrounding her departure were unclear. There are a number of theories why she was fired, but Nintendo says that the reason for them terminating her contract was a second job that was in conflict with Nintendo’s corporate culture. “Alison Rapp was terminated due to violation of an internal company policy involving holding a second job in conflict with Nintendo’s corporate culture. Though Ms. Rapp’s termination follows her being the subject of criticism from certain groups via social media several weeks ago, the two are absolutely not related. Nintendo is a company committed to fostering inclusion and diversity in both our company and the broader video game industry and we firmly reject the harassment of individuals based on gender, race or personal beliefs. We wish Ms. Rapp well in her future endeavors.”

Have you read Nintendo’s employee’s contract? If you have, please show us proof. And even if it didn’t have it, Nintendo’s terms WILL be broad enough to cover nudity as one of the things that they shouldn’t be doing.

First of all, Nintendo is a company and it can do what it wants to do. And as for Chris Pranger, while he did not speak about anything too specific in the Podcast, he did make mentions of Nintendo/Treehouse inner workings. Nintendo may have fired him not just specifically for that, but for the potential that he could have said much more later on. Maybe Nintendo could have given him a reprimand rather than firing him, but guess what, it’s THEIR COMPANY and they can do what they want. Next time, maybe you can give a legitimate complaint about things that directly impact you, the consumer. Nintendo can live without Pranger and Rapp, and you too if you decide to not support them.
