This week’s Japanese sales charts are now in courtesy of Media Create. It’s been a week filled with new releases including Star Fox Zero on the Wii U. The game entered the charts at number five, but interestingly Wii U hardware sales continued to slightly decline. It was the PlayStation 4 that was the best-selling hardware this week just beating the Nintendo 3DS. Here’s the best-selling games in Japan this week.

Now that we know of a release date for NX, I foresee sales in Wii U dipping as soon as the excitement of Star Fox Zero dies down. And it WILL die down. Just like it did with Wind Waker HD, Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, Hyrule Warriors, & Super Smash Bros 4 Wii U. Am I missing any, shadowvegeta, Anubs?

Star Fox Zero was one last pathetic attempt for Nintendo to try forcing their gamepad controls into a game that would have been great without it.
They should have delayed it for a Wii U/NX dual release. Wii U version forces the Gamepad gimmick while the NX has both the forced gimmicks AND classic controls. I wonder which would have sold more.
I believe it would have been best to not make it for Wii U at all, and just made it an NX release (but I understand they want to make Wii U owners not feel more cheated than they already are). Personally I don’t play Star Fox games but I can at least say the game deserved a much better entry in the series.
