SEGA: Sonic Will Have Presence At E3 And He Would Be Perfect Fit For Theme Parks

The latest edition of Global License has an extensive interview with Ivo Gerscovich & Kristen B. Zimmer from SEGA. There’s plenty of content discussed including the idea of Sonic being the perfect fit for various theme park attractions. The team also mention that Sonic will be at E3 this year but there’s no mention as to whether we are going to see the long-awaited 25th anniversary game. That will probably be saved for the 25th anniversary party.

“SEGA has a lineup of events planned for the Beloved Blur Blur’s anniversary that started with a Twitch panel at SXSW and will be followed by events at PAX, E3, San Diego Comic-Con, New York Comic-Con and a 25th anniversary party at the House of Blues in San Diego.”

“The [Sonic] brand is a perfect fit for theme park partnerships.”

  1. I can picture a roller coaster where you gotta go fast, but you keep running into walls and spikes and it just completely stops the ride a dozen times. All in all it’d be slower than your usual roller coaster.

    1. Exactly. They need to give the fans what they want to hear if they’ll ever get Sonic out of the hole he’s in. Sonic Boom is doing nothing but digging him deeper after the comic got cancelled for lack of interest and two mediocre games flopped.

  2. I will only take Sega serious when they stop beating around the bush and give us news on his next anniversary game. Their mascot had been a laughing stock for far too long with all the terrible games and spinoffs released. Sonic Generations and Colors were fantastic, but Lost World and the Boom games are what’s killing that brief revival (and the recent Olympic games to a lesser extent). So much for a company that said they wanted to do better last year.

    1. I feel the exact same way about SEGA. Any time they say anything or I hear anything about Sonic, I take it as a joke (in a way). I just can’t take them or Sonic seriously anymore. I want the best for this franchise because I love Sonic and I grew playing the games alongside Mario games.

      1. I feel your pain. Growing up with Sonic was a great experience for me in my childhood while enjoying the new Mario games at the time. Sega would eventually screw all that potential with consoles that flopped after the Genesis (but the Dreamcast is certainly underrated). Like you, I won’t believe they will do anything good until I see it. I haven’t been impressed with any Sonic game since Generations and there is a problem when the only redeeming quality of Boom is the show. They would have to improve if they will ever survive in the video game market with all these dwindling sales from the previous years. Sega treats their other IP’s like shit just like they never localize any games before of fear of poor sales. At least there’s the new Yakuza and 7th Dragon to look forward do (I’m not fond of the Project Diva games since my girlfriend loves Vocaloid and Miku).

  3. *right eye twitch* YOU SHOULDN’T BE FUCKING THINKING ABOUT GOD DAMN THEME PARK RIDES FEATURING SONIC & FRIENDS RIGHT NOW WHEN THE CURRENT GAMES ARE TOTAL SHIT, YOU IMBECILES!!!

    Grr….
