Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma has revealed at an E3 presentation that the Wii U version of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will support a Wii U Pro Controller, meaning that usage of the GamePad will not be required.
The Wii U Version Of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Will Support A Pro Controller

Im getting NX, but that is still nice.
After playing Wind Waker HD/Twilight Princess HD with the gamepad’s motion controlling (or OOT3D/MM3D’s motion controlling) for aiming, I don’t think I could ever get re-used to the old aiming again, which is what the Pro Controller uses for those games.
I like having all my maps on items on the gamepad. I wonder if this means the NX will not have a new gamepad or be gamepad compatible…
It will most likely have the same system as wind waker, where you can use your inventory on the fly with the gamepad, but if you use the pro controller you drop that option.
Nintendo knows that the gamepad, the selling point of the console, isn’t necessary to enjoy the game. Big fucking surprise.
I have a feeling yo well still need the gamepad, I think you well just have the option to place it in its charging cradle so you can use the “pro” controller to move, and then just tap on the gamepad when you need it.
I’m honestly hoping for that, to be honest. Gamepad for map & inventory because I hate the old way since the touch screen way is faster if the inventory is set up right.
Then again, I’m getting the NX version so it won’t matter if NX is using a new way to play by some chance. Hopefully it’ll have the same controller options as Wii U but with traditional controls being the main way & Gamepad and such being optional. I think Nintendo’s made enough change to how we play games so it’s time to improve on those instead of making new ways.
YES! The Pro Controller is my favorite controller.
