Nintendo of America has confirmed that there’s a new Pikmin game in development for the Nintendo 3DS. The game will launch in 2017 and will no doubt be complimented by an NX version.

  1. Have to say, I was a bit afraid that it was Pikmin 4 when the started showing it.
    Anyway, this looks pretty underwhelming.
The gameplay they showed just looks… kinda boring.
Pikmin as a sidescroller just seems like a silly idea. But I suppose it’s the only way to get the series onto 3DS. Handheld screen is too small for a traditional title.

      1. Yep, it’s a side-scroller. Doesn’t look like much of a platform-heavy game though. Definitely looks more puzzle based. Which is at least in line with the main titles. Graphics looks pretty ugly though (in my opinion). And the frame-rate looks pretty awful at certain moments. I’m sure this is just a harmless spin-off so it doesn’t really bother me that much. Who knows, maybe it’ll be good.

  2. It looks like an interesting side game to tide us over until Pikmin 4. I’ll definitely give it a shot.

One thing I noticed was that none of the games they mentioned were “New” 3DS exclusives. Did anyone notice something I didn’t? I have a 2DS so I hope they aren’t N3DS only…

    1. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy for you and the regular 3DS users, however I’m disappointed they didn’t put the effort into making stronger games that took advantage of the N3DS ram and clock speed.

    1. Nintendo Sub-Commander Cereza

I cant help but assume this was Miyamotos idea as well. Pikmin 4, if on the Wii U, is going to follow the same fate as Paper Mario. I mourn the body of my fallen brethren Chibi Robo, who after much experimenting, was sentenced to the same 2D fate.

  3. I’m pretty into a side scrolling handheld Pikmin cause it reminds me A LOT of Kirby’s Mass Attack which I thought was really engaging and satisfying to play. So clever but the gameplay idea made WAY more sense for a Pikmin title and it’s good to see the idea again for Pikmin.

  4. Well at least this spinoff comes at a good time when we know a fourth mainline installment is on the way, unlike another recently-released spinoff that flipped fans the bird in several ways.

      1. Pfft. As if. That fucktard Tanabe has been too busy with FedshitForce to give a flying fuck about Metroid Prime 4! As for Sakamoto, he’s too busy doing non-Metroid shit because of the overwhelming hate he got for Other M. Sadly, Team Ninja got some of the brunt of that even though they only did the gameplay & had nothing to do with the story. But since FedshitForce has finally released, I’m sure they are finally in the pre-development stage of Metroid Prime 4 if not the early beginnings of the development stage. If NX is truly a handheld first, home console second hybrid, we should expect the worst as MP4 will carry on FedshitForce’s chibi artstyle so people won’t “have trouble aiming on a small screen” as the NX’s main focus will be that, not a big screen TV. THE TIME IS NEAR!!! THE FALL OF METROID HAS BEGUN!!!

  5. So its a Pikmin tittle for 3DS worth wil. Pikmin is my favorite franchise by Nintendo. Im def going to try this. And i cant wait to see the one for wii u or NX. Pikmin is Nintendo’s most under rated franchise. That is one hell of a game. I hope while Pikmin 4 is still in R&D they thought about online. All the good challenging players are in other states or countries.

    1. It’s definitely gonna be an NX title. It’s most likely gonna suffer the same fate as Pikmin 3: a game meant for last gen console but moved to the next gen console because there is no point putting on the last gen console. Maybe it’ll get a dual release on Wii U but don’t hold your breath.

    1. This probably won’t be the future of Pikmin. Besides, Chibi Robo was never really a great series to begin with. The original Gamecube title was good, but it wasn’t on the same level as Pikmin.

      1. Actually, you can say the same about the original Pikmin, too. It was a good game but the sequel is where the franchise really got big as it expanded on the first’s gameplay mechanic of collecting stuff. As for Chibi-Robo, I have no clue where they went wrong with that.

        1. I don’t know about that. I mean obviously the second game should be expected to be better and more popular. New modern series’ typically take a couple games to catch on. But the first Pikmin was very well received and if it wasn’t as good as it was, it could have gone the way of Chibi Robo.
