Digital Foundry Go Hands On With Super Mario Odyssey E3 2017 Demo

One of the standout games at this year’s E3 event in Los Angeles was without a doubt Super Mario Odyssey on the Nintendo Switch. The tech team over at Digital Foundry naturally wanted to get hands on with this game as soon as possible and have produced an analysis video of the demo presented at the event. The game is currently running at 720p resolution and 60 fps with some minor dips. You can check out their impressions, below.

  2. I’ll take performance over high quality resolution any day of the week but remember guys the Splatoon 2 Testfire was 720p too and I know SMO is a little more demanding but it’s something to think about………..this could be a temporary thing

  3. Awesome game, 60fps, looks like it’s going to be a blast to play and I can take it anywhere with me, but it’s only 720p? My PS4 Pro can display a solid white screen at 4k, 60fps, so this game sucks…derp. For those of you who have an impairment, that was sarcasm.

  4. its not likely a temp thing its 1005 a temp thing its 720p undocked why would it be exactly the same docked DIGITAL FOUNDRY ARE JUST TROLLING

IF THIS WAS A TURD PARTY GAME THEY WOULD HAVE SAID THE OPERSITE SHIT OH THIS DEVS SO MAZING TE GAME WILL BE 1080P DOCKED

  5. I thought it was a reasonable video. (of course, I WOULD, not being a Nintendo apologist, not saying if you disagree with them, you are 100% branded an apologist, for which if you thought I was insinuating that, I apologise)

I agree, Nintendo was smart to focus on framerates over resolution. It sucks that Nintendo’s open world games can’t reach 1080p 60fps, but it’s awesome Nintendo is (or are) producing HD games with higher framerates.

The Switch is mobile tech. Tablet tech. Yes, I am being an asshole when I make jabs about it, but it’s true, and I AM trying to be less of an asshole. I think they were also spot on when they said Nintendo is doing amazing things with portable technology. (Really, really strong portable technology.)

Mario Odyssey is a game I will be happy to try someday, but absolutely does not compel me to buy a switch. I think for those who own one, it is a game they should be looking forward to.

I can’t wait to hear more!
