Developer Chucklefish has really made a name for itself lately and the latest project Inmost looks enchanting. It is described as a story-driven platformer and it features some rather delicious pixel based visuals. Platforms have yet to be announced for Inmost but I’m sure everyone is hoping for a release on the Nintendo Switch.
“Inmost is an atmospheric, story-driven puzzle platformer, following three playable characters within one dark, interconnecting story. In an old abandoned castle, you’ll need to explore every nook and cranny, avoid detection, slice your way through enemies and spring deadly traps in order to escape the evil that lurks within… ”
I am not easily impressed…
But it has me intrigued, and that is more than most pixel-art games can boast with…
I don’t know why but I got the same vibes watching this trailer as I had playing Boodborne The Old Hunters DLC, can’t wait for this.
This looks to be in the same realm as Hollow Knight and Dead Cells… and that can’t be a bad thing. Keeping an eye out on this one.
Ok, more pixel art…ok, I get it…do something new and earn your design degree.
I rather have great looking pixel art that looks fine with age than ugly looking flash animated looking indie artsyles or ugly 3d models that look dated or cheap as soon as title is published. Only good looking alternative art styles such as Botw or Okami can be funded by big publishers. Same for any graphics heavy triple A stuff. Meanwhile this game will still be enjoyable 20 years from now
Well said. I’d said the mark of great art and design is if it ends up being timeless.
Looks great
We all know its coming to Switch.
