Nintendo Pokemon Switch

Pokemon Sword & Shield will have in-game purchase option for those without Nintendo Switch Online

If you haven’t parted with your money for a Nintendo Switch Online subscription and you are planning to purchase the forthcoming Pokemon Sword & Shield then do not worry as it seems that the game will feature in-game purchases for online features that would usually require a Nintendo Switch Online membership. This is what it says on the website:

Nintendo Switch Online membership (sold separately) and Nintendo Account required for some online features. This game includes an in-game purchase option for users who do not have a membership. Not available in all countries. Internet access required for online features.

Pokemon Sword & Shield launch on Nintendo Switch worldwide on 15th November.

  1. “the game will feature in-game purchases for online features that would usually require a Nintendo Switch Online membership”

What sort of stuff could they be talking about here? Hopefully not microtransactions and stuff.

    1. I would imagine it will be an option to pay for Pokémon and other items distributed by mystery gift, since you would need an online account to get those.

    2. Knowing their current choices, I wouldn’t doubt it. They already proved they’re idiots, so why not prove further by adding them? It would not be surprising. Would prompt Nintendo buy more shares in Pokemon though, and save the franchise before they add them.

  2. Guys, pretty sure they’re saying there will be an in-game option to purchase the Nintendo online membership, not microtransacations. It’s saying it’ll include “an in-game purchase option” not “in-game purchase options”.

  3. I’ll gladly pay money if it means I can trade my pokémon in game, meaning i dont have to give some little shit my shiny machoke to evolve it

  4. Honestly…as much crap as I give Pokemon S+S, I actually think this is pretty good. If you’re someone that loves playing Pokemon Online but doesn’t really care about the online for other games, this is a suitable option.
Of course, it better be cheaper than the full paid membership.
