Japan: Nintendo Switch sells 154K units this week and Animal Crossing sales now at 3 million

The latest Japanese software and hardware charts are now in from the team at Famitsu. Nintendo continues to be a dominant force shifting an impressive 154,640 Nintendo Switch systems and Animal Crossing: New Horizons total sales in Japan are at 3,031,784, which is staggering. Here’s the best-sellers this week in the land of the rising sun:

  1. While the virus is the worst thing that could have possibly happened to a lot of us in 2020, it just might be the best thing that could have happened for a game like Animal Crossing. An escape and a virtual life you can have while you can’t live a normal life is just the kind of thing that Animal Crossing is.

  2. I don’t know if it’s due to the constant fear of the coronavirus or what, but I just haven’t been able to enjoy Animal Crossing: New Horizons. I’ve only played it two times so far, but I can’t get into it. Maybe it is the virus causing it. Life has been turned upside down. I don’t know how anyone can concentrate on video games right now, aside from the idiots out there who still don’t take anything seriously.
