It hasn’t even been 2 months since a sequel to the Sonic movie was announced, and there has already been the confirmation of a release date. Variety is reporting that SEGA and Paramount’s second Sonic movie will be releasing on April 8th, 2022. There were no further details shared at this time, including an official title.
I pray this movie doesn’t give us a pregnancy plot.

Actually, I was referred to one of the cliched tropes you would normally get in sequels of family movies. In this case, since Sonic is now like a son to Tom and Maddie (Tika Sumpter), I’m worried about making her character pregnant, just to create conflict (outside of Eggman returning) of Sonic playing second-fiddle to a newborn/biological child, justifying him spending more time with Tails.

I wonder if Yuji Naka will appear in the film as a bonus since he was forgotten in the last film during production of the film. I’m a bit stoked for the sequel for the film.

This is probably a provisional date, it just means they’ve definitely decided to make a sequel and make it official. However, usually when dates like this are created, they haven’t actually started development and often the date is pushed back.
The original movie was so intolerably awful, i recommend avoiding any possible viewing of this sequel.
I know its a movie for kids, but, kids movies dont need to be this lazy and mind-numbing. See pixar for more information.
