Nintendo’s Switch Online subscription service has been getting a lot of attention lately, especially the Expansion Pack plan that had been launched late last year. This is due in large part to the release of Banjo-Kazooie on Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack‘s Nintendo 64 library.
When Nintendo adds new games to the subscription service’s retro libraries, the company will sometimes update the inner workings of the retro library, and occasionally, even the emulator itself. For example, it has been discovered on Twitter that Nintendo has been tweaking the Switch’s Nintendo 64 emulator to do a better job at displaying water in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. It isn’t 100% perfect yet, and the fog is still missing, but it’s a sign that Nintendo is doing something at all. You can see the tweet about the matter down below.

I’m glad they’re at least trying to improve the emulation instead of leaving the fallacies in. I will indeed try the service once they get all the N64 games on there whether it be two years from now..
I hope they fix the watt issue I already beated paper Mario 64
Graphical issues in N64 emulation is very common, even on PC. But it’s nice they’re trying to fix it.
I’m very content with Banjo on NSO. It’s a much better experience than when I last emulated it on PC. Visual bugs galore on there, and getting fixes for them is a headache.
Does that count as fixing it though? I hope they keep at it.
What about the MASSIVE latency though… That seems to be the bigger issue in my opinion. It feels awful to play compared to on N64, about as bad as the Wii version
I’m not really having a problem with input lag. Yes, it’s there, but it hasn’t really been a detriment in most of the games I’ve played on the service so far.
Once F-Zero X gets added though… Then it might be an issue.
