Believe it or not, it had been announced in 2015 that Freedom Planet 2 was in development. In fact, it had been confirmed on Christmas Day of that year. Now, 7 years later, after many debates have been held about the game’s release date, the debate is over.
GalaxyTrail has announced on their official Twitter account that Freedom Planet 2 will be officially releasing on September 13th, 2022. The game was previously slated for a spring 2022 release on Nintendo Switch and PC, but according to GalaxyTrail, additional console ports will “need more time to go through testing and certification than we expected”.
However, that wasn’t the only reason for the delay. Their lead developer also suffered a hand injury last week, so the new release date will provide “extra time for physical therapy while other team members take care of her duties”. Their announcement tweet about the release date, as well as why they picked it, can be seen down below.
Hard to believe that it has been 7 years since Freedom Planet 2 was announced, but I definitely want to pick this up Day 1
