Jeff Grubb: Immortals Fenyx Rising is getting a Hawaiian Polynesian-themed spin-off

Earlier today, Giant Bomb journalist Jeff Grubb spoke on the Games Mess Decides podcast. There, Grubb revealed that “Ubisoft Quebec‘s sequel to Immortals Fenyx Rising is not a proper sequel. It’s more of a spin-off. The production name of the game is called Oxygen”.

Grubb also says that the game is “based on Hawaiian Polynesian culture this time around. It still has a God narrator. They try to still be visually stylised but it’s less of a copy of Breath of the Wild”. As for where it is in development, Grubb says that “it’s in early pre-production, seen some concept art, it’s coming maybe 2025”. A piece of concept art has also appeared online, so we’ve included it for you down below.

  1. I was pretty optimistic about the first game, but unfortunately it only borrowed surface level design choices from BOTW and ended up being yet another icon-infested Ubisoft open world game. I never even finished it.
They had some decent ideas, but poor execution. Maybe this one will be better but I’m just gonna skip until it’s $15 within a month lol.
