We haven’t got too long to wait until Pikmin 4 releases as it is finally due out on Nintendo Switch on 21st July. Today, new information has seemingly appeared on Reddit which has presumably been posted by a play tester. The user reports that Pikmin 4 will feature four leaders (captains) and these are all named after dog breeds with the main character Pom being named after the Spitz type breed, Pomeranian. Pom will be available to play in the main game during daytime in-game and when in the various cave systems. The other three Pikmin captains will be playable when it is nighttime in-game with the gameplay being similar to Pikmin 3‘s Challenge Mode where you controlled the three leaders who were Alph, Brittany, and Charlie. The Reddit user says that night-time mode will see players collect as many “shooting stars” (Konpeito) as possible before time runs out (which is around 5 minutes). As always this is a rumour and it hasn’t been announced by Nintendo.

Not a fan based on the news. Was hoping for gameplay more faithful to pikmin 1&2. Pikmin 3 felt too kiddy and way too short. Pikmin 4 seems like even more of a mainstreamy game.
I hope they discontinue every leaked game ever. Nobody deserves to get it if it’s just going to be leaked to the public before release. I’d cancel the entire project if someone found out so early!
So you would deny the whole world something that could very well be wonderful because one person, out of billions, couldn’t shut their trap?
It would also be ridiculously impractical to do that in the case of a video game. If every game that had details leak before release was cancelled, I couldn’t even tell you how many millions of dollars would be wasted. That actually would be the equivalent of taking whatever amount of money went into development and literally burning it.

That would be stupid if they discontinued game(s) just because information leaked online. So basically because some impatient person leaks information before game(s) release no one deserves to play the game? They wouldn’t cancel or discontinue un released games because information leaked online, they can just change what they had originally planned if anything. I mean, why would they scrap everything just because information leaked online. Nowadays having leaked information online is almost inevitable.
Sounds terrible. If any of this ends up being true, it’s not going to be well for the game. The only good thing said here is that the one eyed Pikmin is fake, which of course we all knew, but it looked terrible anyway, so glad to see it being outright stated as fake despite the fact that this leaker may be making everything up. Orange should be in the game but if so they should be based off the Orange Ghost Pikmin Concept art
I sure hope this isn’t true because boy howdy does this sound bad, and like a huge step downwards from past games in the series…

You know those are the literal loan sharks going after the Lresiden and ginger back in time to stop the treasures from happening such as 1984 with a dystopia mark universe
I’m impressed with anything about this leak. We been with more than one character since Pikmin 2 why all of a sudden change it? And that dog looks like it just makes the game easier and the blue Pikmin seem pointless.
I imagine that the dog would only be capable of transporting Pikmin over water; it won’t be able to interact with anything underwater. So if there’s a treasure or passageway underwater, Blue Pikmin would still be the only things capable of reaching it.
In Pikmin 3 we just hopped over a leaf or toss Pikmin into a flower of the color they need and pluck them out. Then to go back retoss the Pikmin back into a flower to transfer pikmin over water. They made this game super easy for whatever reason.
Im scared for this game.
