Yoshinori Kitase, Japanese game director and producer at Square Enix who has worked on a number of classic RPGs, has revealed in a recent interview that staff at the company continue to ask him when he is going to remake Final Fantasy VI. Final Fantasy VI (known as Final Fantasy III from its initial North American release) launched in 1994 for the Super Nintendo and was greeted with acclaim. Kitase says that he believes it would be a difficult one to remake. Hironobu Sakaguchi who is the creator of the Final Fantasy franchise also chimed in saying that due to the fact that Final Fantasy VI is a sprite based game rather than pixels, it would be a ton of work for the team, though he jokingly asked, “Won’t you release it a little sooner?”
Staff at Square Enix keep requesting that Final Fantasy VI be remade

I am very conservative but “only thing i real need in ff6 remake” is long fmv sequence where Kefka win and ruin world in apokalypse with Nobuo Uematsu black mages dancing mad Kefka solo song. That sound like nirvana for me >:)
Haven’t ever played Final Fantasy 6 or the pixel remaster, but if FF7R is taking this long and their only on part 1 of 3 then will be old and grey when Final Fantasy 6 remake releases.
It’s considered the greatest RPG by many, it’s a good game personally, but very dated now. A remake would definitely help it.
The only reason FF7 Remake was split up instead of released as a full game is to charge you $210 for it instead of $70. Don’t be gullible and listen to their b.s. reasonings, they simply said, let’s make bank on this and now they are. With that said, there is zero reason for them to take such a long time to remake any game, unless they want you to pay $210 for it like they charge for FF7 Remake.
The best Final fantasy Game. It is so so good.
F=ma.
eh, FF6 was considered the best at that time, but by today’s standards it really isn’t. FF6 was the first non-traditional FF game, it broke the pattern and the series never went back to it’s roots, which eventually lead to crap like FFXIII+ and FFXIVARR+ and FFXV and FFXVI. When I need a FF nostalgia trip, I play FF1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and Dimensions (Dimensions was the last old school type of FF game, known as Final Fantasy Legends in Japan, however the sequel to Dimensions is not a real FF game at all) and sometimes I replay FF9, but I rather play the 2D ones. Luckily I never get an urge to replay FF6-8 and X-2. I’ve played and finished them a few times each, and that was enough, they are good, well…FF7 doesn’t qualify as good, but they are not good enough to replay over and over again, 3-4 times each was enough. However put FF1-5+11 (and dimensions) in front of me and I will happily play it (yes, I’m including FF2, the game is amazing but people can’t look past the leveling system, which is damn foolish cause that system allows you to become god-like from the beginning of the game if you wanted to, can’t really do that in other FF games except FFXIV 1.0 where your Physical Level made you really strong when you switched to a lvl1 class, not quite the god you can become in FFII, but close enough.)
It might be helpful to inlude somehow in the headline that they are referring to FF3 as it is known in the US. It took me a second to understand that
The one that is known as III in the US is now III. If you try to use the old localized title peopke like me aren’t going to think you’re talking about VI.
Man you are stuck in the past. You need to let that go, it was NEVER FFIII, it was always FFVI except for marketing reasons (and to not confuse gamers that didn’t know about the Japanese releases, of which gaming magazines mentioned all the time.) So stop holding onto a name that was only used to not confuse people who didn’t know about the Japanese only (at the time) Final Fantasy games. Final Fantasy III has Onion Knights, if the FF3 that you are playing does not have Onion Knights, then it’s not FF3. It’s that simple.
Nice post
I’ve been asking for the same damn thing for u ears now but never gonna happen because Square Enix.
Ff6 has the best story, best cast of characters, and best villain out of the entire ff series imo, my favorite character story in ff6 is connection between Shadow, Relm, and Strago.
i lik locke
It’s been remade twice already, that’s enough. First remake has beyond amazing enemy sprites, but crappy character sprites, ubfortunately it is no longer sold, only available as a bootleg now. Second remake was a giant step down from the first remake, but at least it is still on the market. So nope, don’t need another freaking remake of FFVI, twice remade is more than enough.
