Minecraft still remains an absolute juggernaut of a game across multiple platforms and Microsoft has revealed that not only is it the most profitable game in their portfolio, but that the Nintendo Switch version makes them the most revenue on console. The company admitted to the Federal Trade Commission that Xbox is the smallest platform for the creative sandbox game, with the PlayStation version making 2x the revenue and the Nintendo Switch making 4x the revenue.
Q Is Minecraft a significant revenue driver for Xbox?
Yes.
Q How does Xbox compare some of the other platforms on there?
It is the smallest
Q How does it compare to PlayStation to Xbox?
Roughly twice as big.
Q What about Nintendo?
Roughly twice as big as PlayStation. 4x as big as Xbox.
Q If you compare the net revenue to the gross margin, how profitable is Minecraft?
Minecraft is one of the most profitable, if not the most profitable first-party game.

I will say, Microsoft allowing their games onto Nintendo’s platform is really impressive, but I’m shocked that the Switch port is out selling both the PlayStation and Xbox Ports of the game
If you’re not too prideful, it’s another money making opportunity. Let’s em offset the sales that might not be as strong as their own platform. I’d imagine it’s much the same for stuff like Ori, Super Lucky’s Tale and Cuphead has probably sold pretty well too.
“How could some Microsoft game make so much money?” (Reads the headline) “Oh. That’s how.”
Scale Bound should be a Nintendo Switch game, I don’t even know what Xbox or their fan base even buy. 4X of sales are on the Switch. That is all we needed to know.
F=ma.
no way a game for children sells better on a handheld meant for children? I’m shocked.
