WayForward on porting Shantae Advance to modern consoles: “after the GBA game’s done, we’ll have many options”

You may recall that, earlier today, WayForward and Limited Run Games had officially announced that Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution, the lost sequel to the original Shantae game, was resuming development and would be getting a physical release on the Game Boy Advance. Following the announcement, there was some curiosity from fans on whether the game could be ported to modern consoles, including the Nintendo Switch.

Well, a fan has asked WayForward about the matter on Twitter, and they have responded. According to the company, “after the GBA game is complete, we’ll have plenty of options”. So, it seems that WayForward is planning to bring the game to modern consoles in the future, but not until the Game Boy Advance version is completed. You can see their tweet down below.

  1. I feel like Wayforward would be making a huge mistake by not releasing it on modern platforms. I get it, it’s a lost GBA sequel and it’s extremely cool to see such an awesome company go back and finish a game from their best franchise. But if it’s not released, it’s going to be a situation like the first Shantae game where it’ll be hiked up on eBay for being a limited GBA release and those who want to play it will just emulate it.

I’m sure they’ll release it a bit after GBA’s release, but they’re insane if they don’t put it on modern platforms. Guess until then, we can always use the GameCube’s GBA support to play it on the big screen lol.

  2. A very interesting topic that I have been looking at, I think this is one of the most important information for me. And I’m glad to read your post. Thanks for sharing!
