We haven’t seen or heard much as of late from Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser as we did with the former Nintendo of America president, the larger-than-life Reggie Fils-Aimé, who thoroughly embraced his role with the public and press. Speaking in a recent interview, it seems Doug is a hardcore gamer who enjoys content on all the current platforms available, such as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. He also said that he is currently enjoying all the brilliant content that has been released in this excellent year for gaming, which has seen a number of big releases on all three console formats. However, he thinks that Nintendo’s success lies in the way it approaches game development with the user in mind. Here’s what Mr. Bowser said:
“I play on all the platforms, and I enjoy the content that everyone is creating. We’ve always said at Nintendo: What’s most important to us is not so much what’s inside the machine or the device, but what happens on the screen when you put your hands on the controllers and you start engaging in the gameplay experience. Does it draw you in? Is it immersive? To that point, you can use a variety of different art styles, some with higher fidelity, some with perhaps a different, more cartoonish-type style.”
Nintendo of America president, Doug Bower

He is a cool Nintendo President for playing video games in all platforms at his age. I still fully respect the man. Get your game on dude.😊
“At his age”… Lol, he’s 4 years younger than Reggie! When I managed an EB Games / GameStop decades ago, I had an old woman that came in all the time and played every single RPG on every platform. She was the nicest, sweetest lady. I had plenty of other regulars who were in their 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s or higher. You’re never too old to enjoy fun entertainment! People still listen to music, watch movies, and do everything else all their lives, why would playing video games be any different? I suppose there are still lots of people in the world who think games are just for kids but that stigma has largely been lifted.
(BTW, I know you didn’t mean anything bad obviously, so I’m not lecturing you or anything, just thought the age thing was funny. I’m sure many people think the same thing but when you think about it, it’s not odd at all.)
Why else do they say games are for everyone? It certainly is.
Yes I believe so dude.
That is so nice to know!!!
Hmm does he actually play games tho or does he just play the role of a gamer to gain the gaming community’s acceptance? That’s the real question.
Presidents of companies don’t have time to play videogames. Though his business is videogames, so I bet he dabbles and at least tries out a variety of games just to better understand the landscape he’s in. Would be surprised if he actually finished a game.
its the gaming community that fights over consoles, characters, games, etc (cuz of jealousy). not the gaming company executives. remember that phil spencer owns a switch at his console collection
Can we get back to competition and rivalry? And ridiculing your market opponent? This “haha everyone is great, no one needs to improve, there is enough players for all of us!” Shtick is just so old at this point. Doug should be saying that the industry is at an all time low and that he hates Phil Spencer on a personal level, maybe insult his wife.
