Nuneaton resident Anthony Bray, 48, was arrested by Warwickshire Police on June 8th, 2024, for possessing a “bladed article” in public that was sharp enough to be used for violence or intimidation- a point that Bray acknowledged during his confrontation with the police. He also remarked that the 6-inch replica of the “blade of evil’s bane” from The Legend of Zelda was a fidget toy, but officers explained that the properties of the toy’s blade, and more critically, his behaviour, nonetheless violated law.
Warwickshire Police published a press release on July 2, reporting on the incident and including a statement from Sergeant Fern Spellman of the Patrol Investigation Unit:
“We take a zero tolerance [approach] to bladed articles in public, and Bray has fallen afoul of this. It is possible to find fidget toys that aren’t six-inch blades. It is possible not to walk down the street holding them out in front of you. With a bit more self-awareness, Bray could have avoided contact with us completely.”
The United Kingdom prohibits carrying knives or weapons in public without “good reason,” i.e. for work or for cultural reasons, but enforcement varies depending on the type of knife and the length of its cutting edge. July 4th is election day in the UK, and its two main political parties, Labour and Conservative, have both made slashing knife crime rates a part of their respective agendas.
Bray, as reported by Forbes, has a history of criminal offenses and had previously served time for burglary.
According to the police report, Bray will be paying a victims’ surcharge of £154, or roughly $196, in addition to serving four months in jail.

I love swords as much as anyone else, but why would you carry around a sharpened one and expect to not be questioned by police?
Same here man and good question.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
I guess he was Tri’d by a jury.
I’ll see myself out
He clearly had intent to enter stranger’s homes and break all their ceramics.
He will go to court and it’ll be the trial of the sword
Bro walked around the overworld with his weapon out and wondered why NPCs got spooked
That manchild retard should be put to death for such a cringe action
I have a long comment on this matter, but it’s not posting. Not the 1st time I’ve had issues doing so on this site.
Pathetic police and justice system. It’s a toy blade. Maybe you could stab someone with it, why would you use a toy blade if that was your motivation? The edge of the “blade”, wouldn’t cut paper. Did he threaten anyone? No. Was he wielding it in a menacing fashion? No.
This is farcical, look at the thing. It would fit in the palm of your hand. Yes the UK has a serious problem with knife crime. Deal with the people who are the real menaces. Have you seen the knives used in some of those attacks?
It never hurts to do some research before making ASSumptions

What is this BS about”cultural reasons” letting someone carry a knife? That Master Sword has no cutting edge, it’s blunt. Yes, it’s pointed enough to probably stab someone with enough force. What’s with the victim surcharge? Who’s the victim? There is none.
Apparently pop culture isn’t culture.
It’s definitely quite worrying to have someone waltzing about with a blade, but it’s even more worrying to have a 48yr old man waltzing about with a master sword
It sure is fun to judge people we never (or ever will) met, based on bizarre shortcomings related to Nintendo.
RIGHT!?
smh
Lol shut the fuck up you Nintendo famboi bitch. Theyre not talking about you…. unless that’s why you’re so offended
It’s not the size of the sword, but the skill of the swordsmen.
I want a replica to hang on my wall
