Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa has reiterated that the company plans to take action against those who misuse their intellectual property and says that “appropriate action must be taken against any behaviour that undermines this policy.” Mr. Furukawa wouldn’t be drawn into citing any recent examples of this.
Furukawa: Our company aims to achieve our management policy to “bring smiles through entertainment” by proposing unique games that anyone can intuitively enjoy. I will refrain from commenting on individual cases, but we believe that appropriate action must be taken against any behavior that undermines this policy.
Our goal is to create an environment where everyone can enjoy playing games. We will continue to make every effort to ensure that our consumers are not made to feel uncomfortable, not only in our games but also anywhere they come into contact with our IP.

At this point, they’re just doing this to hear themselves.
In these past few days, Nintendo hasn’t shut up! Might as well send people to prison for looking a Peach the wrong way, or saying something negative.
These interviews are from the newest Nintendo’s shareholders meeting.
Don’t misinform and derail people.
Nowhere in the article does it mention anything about a shareholders meeting.
And even if it did, what does that have to do with the topic at hand?
Typically almost anyone hates Shareholders and often times end up being the ones that ruin an ip. Since they’re always about profit over creativity.
Just look at the source at the end of the article. It leads to a pdf titled “The 84th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders “.
My comment is specifically talking about what amanfromtheclan said in “In these past few days, Nintendo hasn’t shut up!” It only looks like they can’t “shut up” because mostly of their quotes are being taken from this meeting I mentioned instead of being posted in only one article.
This is Nintendo, we need to talk to you about your recent mynintendonews comments
I’m waiting for the Mario slasher movie once the copyright becomes public domain, Mario’s been around for quite a while now…..joke!! I find this a bit bizarre situation, look at the Winnie the Pooh horror movie.
WE GET IT NINTENDO! YOU BOUGHT SUPER MARIO PORN IN THE 90’S JUST TO TAKE IT DOWN. WE KNOW.
Cope and seethe.
You will never see sally acorn in smash and any will probably be in the roster
Most western releases are already heavily censored because of SJW’s, so yeah what else is new!
Oh really Nintendo, we haven’t noticed. I swear you sneeze while talking about a Mario game these days and Nintendo will tax you several millions of dollars. Love their games, but they’ve ruined many people’s lives over fairly trivial matters just to be overly protective of their IPs.
There are really fools here… how can you criticize Nintendo for what they do when it’s just THEIR right?!
We’re talking about people who use their characters, their IPs without any authorization and worse: some even make money on it and you think it’s abnormal that Nintendo gets involved?!
No, but, we’ve seen it all here
Well, I agree. If someone is looking to profit off of their brand, characters, and so-on they have every right to burn the offenders to a crisp. But there are those that don’t even want to make a profit. Like the many times they issued take downs of fan games.
This is all about Mario pornography games. I can see what they mean all of this.
This is the kind of thinking that got Japan nuked in the first place!
Even that was a bit much. There’s a certain BG anime film out there that will strongly make you regret such a flippant remark on the nation as a whole.
Nintendo has gotten me back into piracy, I simply did not care about Switch Emulation at all, I have a switch and I was happy to support nintendo with my purchases, but with how they won’t stop going after rom sites and fan games, I just stopped buying games on the Switch and I just get the games for free as roms and play them on either my smartphone or my PC. It’s a damn shame but Nintendo did this to themselves, they f**ked around and now they find out. Man has Nintendo gone downhill fast, taking hardcore supporters like me and pushing us towards piracy (because come on, I can’t financially support their actions, it’s just wrong to pay them for their behavior.)
Nintendo literally doesn’t care about people like you, vocal minority on the internet. They are at the peak of profitability right now. Casual gamers are Nintendo bread and Butter and they keep giving Nintendo truckload of money. Just know that Nintendo is still laughing all the way to the Bank.
Correct. They are wheeling in loads of money and have been the most successful they’ve ever been, about to break records sales with the Switch for the best selling console, a ton of games have sold 20, 30, 40 million copies, keep releasing low cost, lazy remakes for full prices (except Metroid Prime) and people will buy it anyway… They have so much money and great reputation around their games, and yet they STILL feel the need to remove every rom, complain about every hack, and try to destroy emulators. Absolute greed. Emulation existed before the Switch came out, so did piracy, and yet here’s the Switch doing better than ever. Clearly the all the sales poor Nintendo “theoretically” loss (based on numbers they pulled out of their ass) hasn’t been hurting them that bad when the top 10 selling Switch games are in the 17 to 61 million sales range.
Such a long ass comment to say that EVERY for-profit company sole reason of existence is to make as much profit as possible. No need to go on a tangent.
Yes they sure did ‘find out’ they are almost bankrupt because of your boycott.
I’m sure they regret creating the Super Crown.
Or just give Toadette a different ability, rather than have her transform into Not!Peach (and inspire a naming convention that makes zero-sense.
At least Super Mario Wonder had the good sense to make Peach (and Daisy) playable.
“bring smiles through entertainment”
But rules 34 bring smiles to people! In another way at least…
