Capcom explains how Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection came about

Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics was announced to the surprise of many during the last Nintendo Direct presentation and fans are eagerly awaiting a firm release date for the game. Gaming site Dextero caught up with Shuhei Matsumoto, the collection’s producer, to talk about how the collection inevitably came about. He revealed that “the team have been wanting to re-release for years and years now” and that they finally got the go ahead from Marvel, thanks to the company taking notice of “community-based tournaments at places like EVO.”

“In terms of past Capcom-developed Marvel titles, this has been something that myself and the team have been wanting to re-release for years and years now. It was just a matter of timing and making sure that everyone was on board. We’ve actually been in talks with Marvel for years now to see whether we can make this happen.

They were also on board. Because of that, it’s kind of like the stars aligned. The timing was great, and now we are actually able to bring it to life. We’re all very excited. And some of the inspiration about doing this was that Marvel took notice of community-based tournaments at places like EVO.

With Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 and other Marvel tournaments happening, they know that people really love the series and really want these games to be available on modern platforms, so now is the chance for them to do so.”

  1. I thought it was because they were foreshadowing another mvc game. Honestly, if we have to have another mvc title, they should make a sequel to mvci and then stop making new mvc titles.

Also, not only is mvc cringe, but playing old mvc titles is even more cringe. Who plays video games from older generations anymore? Oh wait!

      1. I for one am glad this collection is coming out. I hope this opens up the possibility for more collections… like Rivals Schools and Power Stone?

“Gamers” like you are the problem, you act like the only video games that have any value are new ones, when all video games have value regardless of how old they are.
