Takaya Imamura is best known for being an artwork designer for Star Fox and F-Zero, designing characters for both franchises. He doesn’t work at Nintendo anymore, having retired from the company in 2021. However, he still has a lot of appreciation and respect for the company, including the people that still worked there.
In fact, in a recent Gamescom interview with GamesRadar, he had some very kind words to say about Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto. He said that he was most proud to “work under Shigeru Miyamoto-san for so long” and that “generally speaking, he’s a really kind, hard working person. But when it comes to game design, he doesn’t accept compromise. So my impression was, this is what it takes to be number one at anything in the world”.

And yet to a certain someone; He will always be a liar about Pikmin 4.
That should be the Nintendo Motto ‘Don’t accept any compromise’ in other words ‘dont rush it.’
Is that why he killed the series with Zero?
Would be nice if they let him make another game in the series.
Sooo. why was Star Fox Zero so terrible and littered with obvious bad game design choices?
Every now and then, something gets through the cracks, right !?!? #WiiMusic
Either way. The man is a legend.
First of all, it was Satoru Iwata himself who asked Miyamoto-san to create games that sold the idea of the gamepad and asymmetrical gameplay.
I’m not blaming Iwata-san, who has all my respect, but Star Fox Zero should not have been released in the state that it was, understandably they needed to sell the gamepad idea and Iwata-san turned to Miyamoto-san for this.
The game should have been rethought, and instead of focusing on the gamepad, that focus may as well have stayed on “Star Fox Guard”, while Zero would have been a larger scale game without gimmicks.
Either way, without Iwata we wouldn’t have had a new Star Fox game (until then).
I really enjoyed the game.
We gotta admire Miyamoto for taking the blame for star fox zero but one has to wonder how the game would have been if Kamiya were leading the project.
This constant Miyamoto blaming is unfair…yes i said it, now come at me Quadraxis or ravenbeak or whatever you are known.
