News has emerged that Nintendo participated in a hefty spending spree for its resource and development department during the fiscal year which ended March 2024. As you can see from the handy chart down below, the company spent almost 138 billion yen roughly $910m during that period. The substantial amount of money was likely used towards the company’s successor to the popular Switch console, which is set to be revealed by the Kyoto-based company before March 2025. Nintendo is forecasting yet another increase for the current fiscal year.

HOLY FLIP.
That’s absolutely insane.

Its almost like 200B dollars worth of game development and console parts and features for the next Nintendo Switch!
They did…it was Pokémon sleep 😂
Wow. How are they going to break even after that? That’s insane.
Come to think of it, I’m pretty sure they are going to used the rest of half of millions for its backwards compatibility feature.
For comparison, Nintendo spent ¥69.0 billion (U.S.$610 million) in 2016, the same year when the Switch was revealed and a year before it was released.

What is the next switch…?
I don’t want to play the killjoy but we have to compare what is comparable. Inflation has been there in the meantime…
It’s not for the switch. It’s for the new LABO BBQ starter project.
