Grubb claims games shown in next Pokemon Direct will be for original Switch

Journalist Jeff Grubb has spoken about the next Pokemon Direct presentation, which has yet to be announced by the folks at The Pokemon Company. Grubb claims that the new Pokemon games which will be showcased, including Pokémon Legends Z-A, were developed for the original Switch, rather than its soon-to-be-announced successor, the Nintendo Switch 2. The new Pokemon games will obviously work on the next console, but they have been created from the ground up for the original Nintendo Switch system. Once we hear of a firm date for the next Pokemon Presents presentation we will let you know.

“I did hear that everything in that Pokémon Direct will be positioned as ‘These games are Switch 1 games’. They will work on Switch 2, but there will not be anything that is obviously made for Switch 2.”

    1. LOL, yeah but there always in February.

I assume Pokemon games will get duel console launches for another year so they can milk every penny from this franchise.

    1. Idk. American viewpoint here; I’d imagine they want it announced before super bowl. Potentially for a commercial but also so people can talk about it st the parties. This take is a bit of a stretch but makes some sense.

      1. I’ll also laugh if this direct pokemon is this famous “direct switch 2” that all these “leakers” have been screaming from the rooftops…
Otherwise, tomorrow is the date that Eurogamer announced for the presentation of the successor but no announcements, nothing yet, weird right?^^

  1. Sounds about right! Pokémon has a tendency to stay rooted in the previous gen for a good long while. I mean, Black 2 & White 2 released /well/ past the 3DS’ release lol. I’d imagine it’s not until 2027 or 2028 we see a dedicated Switch 2 exclusive. Legends Z will definitely get a performance boost people will be talking about lots on Switch 2, however, I’d bet.

    1. It’s really funny to me how you went silent after being called out in the comment section of the DKCR credits article.
You’re such an obnoxious POS on here most of the time so it was entertaining seeing you get knocked down a peg :’)

      1. Maybe this comment will go through this time.

Short version: The original dev team were credited. If you want their names, you can find them easily. Nobody came forward and said they viewed credits so I was basically right anyhow.

      2. Well since CFG wants to keep the credits convo going. Could you imagine if there was a 4k restoration of a classic movie, and all the original crew was gone and there was only the people who did the restoration. Whether or not “9 out of 10” people don’t watch the credits doesn’t matter, it’s a matter of respect.

    2. Legends Z-A is the first time they’re actually giving a Pokémon game some extra time to develop, so hopefully it’ll look good. If this game doesn’t look good/run well, then I think it’s safe to say they’ll never feel the need to improve themselves.

  2. That’s just par for the course with Pokémon. They have always released games on the previous system and wait until the current, new system has been out for a while before they release games for it. They operate simply on business- for better and worse.
