The Nintendo Switch 2 may have been officially revealed by Nintendo a couple of months ago, but there is still not really much information to go on that has come straight from Nintendo themselves. So, leaks and opinions from analysts have been filling the gaps until Nintendo’s big Switch 2 Direct on April 2nd. Some analysts at Bloomberg, for example, have offered their insight on the matter. What makes them unique, however, is that they regularly communicate with Nintendo and their partners.
According to the analysts, they expect that the Switch 2 will be more expensive than its predecessor, with it potentially being $400 or more. In fact, Toyo Securities analyst Hideki Yasuda said that “I wouldn’t be surprised if Nintendo goes ahead with $499”, though that depends on factors such as the US tariffs and its trade war with various countries, as well as the hardware costs. The analysts are divided in that regard though.
It’s not all concerning for Nintendo though. The analysts also expect that the Switch 2 will release relatively soon, in June. As for games, Tokyo-based industry watcher Serkan Toto expects “a great software lineup in year 1, from new Mario Kart and 3D Mario after eight years to Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4.There will also be third-party support from day one, most probably including blockbusters like Call of Duty”. So, there should be lots of games on the way too.
The analysts also agree that, despite the high price, the console will still get off to a great start. Macquarie Capital analyst Hiroshi Yamashina expects sales of 20,000,000 units during its first year of availability, for example. Meanwhile, Robin Zhu of Sanford C. Bernstein expects that Nintendo will have 6,000,000-8,000,000 Switch 2 units available at launch. If so, that would make it the biggest console launch ever.

400$ will be a decent price on the table for me to pay.
Im curious when the pre orders will be available, i read supposedly April 2nd is the estimated date pre orders will be available because of the Nintendo Direct.
Curious to know the impact the tariffs have had on the price of the console and if so, how does Nintendo offset these costs.
As a resident of the United States, I am wondering the same thing.
Those same “analysts” who swore it was due for release in 2024? June is unlikely, given that it will still be showing in various cities..
That’s not bad if you consider other tablets. That said I hope the eshop has more space for actual apps, especially with that mouse support function thing….. I’m not saying it should be an iPad… No no an iPad is an ancent device, the switch 2 should be better.

I’d be flabbergasted if it hits the shelves 2 months after it’s official showing. That seems wild. But I certainly wouldn’t be upset.
The original switch released two months after it’s presentation from January 2017 to March 2017 I don’t really think it’s wild.
The original Switch reveal trailer was in October 2016. It wasn’t a showcase but it did have moments of gameplay coming to Switch. Switch 2 we’ve seen a teaser of the console. That’s it.
I’d love for it to be true though.
15th May is when the new Mario kart Lego releases, unusual for Lego as they always release around 1st of the month, probably too soon for switch 2 though with new Mario kart. Not long to go now until the lid is lifted😄
Switch 2 is boring as hell. Same generation of games – just better graphics. BORING!
Give my regards to the next mouse you meet. squeak
How many generations of Assassin’s Creed and Call of Duty have there been by now?
The same “analysts” who said the console was going to be released in 2024?….
A June release is unlikely knowing that there will still be a special tour in different cities to uncover it.

I’m still flabbergasted by the fact that some people are finding the tarrifs and this console’s release situation surprising. Y’all need to grow up, the second he mentioned that when he was campaigining I knew EVERYTHING was going to get more expensive.
Doubt it’d be summer, looks more like fall/winter. Price might be more than $400, depending on what is included and what the specs are.
Nintendo moved some Switch manufacturing to Vietnam in anticipation of this.
Make it $499 if for no other reason than further discouraging scalpers. A higher up front cost closes the gap between that and the public’s balking point, squeezing the scalper’s possible profit margin.
