Nintendo has been revealing little tidbits on the Nintendo Today app and today they have shown off some footage of Pokemon Scarlet & Violet running on the Nintendo Switch 2. As you can see from the video down below the game appears to run much smoother than it did on the original Nintendo Switch console. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will relieve a free software update on Thursday for the Nintendo Switch 2 enabling a smoother framerate and visuals.

Much better. 👌
OK hang on a second. This actually looks kinda good. It’s a mixed bag as some of those textures are still extremely rough but the lighting looks great to my eyes, and obviously we’re running at what looks to be 60fps. This is a far bigger upgrade than what I was expecting.
It won’t change other things that are terrible about the game, like the lifeless and forgettable towns and the general glitchiness, but hey, this now looks like an acceptable product, and that is something. Glad I never completed it before, because now I’ve got a chance to play it in a much nicer state.
Every town in a Pokémon game is lifeless, we don’t want to be in towns, we want to be in Routes battling and catching. The town is just for the PokéCenter and Gym. Why are you spending time in towns?
This will make shiny hunting even better and less annoying in areas that lag.
Wow
And you only have to pay another $10 to get a functioning game
Except that it’s free.. so when you don’t know anything…
I made a mistake. I was thinking about Legends ZA. That’ll cost $10 more to update so thank you for correcting me there.
Except, it won’t cost you more to update. Nobody with a brain buys the last gen version when the current gen is out, which they launch at the same time. If you’re still on Switch in October…. Don’t buy ZA.
“Nobody with a brain buys the last gen version when the current gen is out”
the problem with that is a lot of people bought the last gen version prior to Switch 2, makes sense to just go for the upgrade path if you already own the non-Switch 2 edition.
Yeah, I’m sure every single Pokemon fan will own a Switch 2 by October and, if they don’t, will pass on ZA until they can save up $450.
And I was going to be chill but I’m going to go ahead and highlight his little fact…. SCARLET AND VIOLET UPDATE ISN’T FREE. It costs $450 for the update :)
Emerald > all other Pokemon games.
Emerald is the greatest Pokemon game………..period!
Of course, if you were born around 95-2000. A genwunner will never agree, and us GSC won’t either.
Was born in 2001.
So not a genwunner or a gen2… Got it
God this game looks UGLY, like. No higher frame rate and higher definition textures can save it for me.
It’s a good thing then that real gamers don’t care about that, and play fun games. This game was fun, you missed out. I’m assuming you don’t play any games that are older than just a few months then too, casual, otherwise you’d be a hypocrite.
“It’s a good thing then that real gamers don’t care about that”
Real gamers don’t care about good looking functioning games, sure buddy.
“You missed out” I won this game at a smash tournament and I still felt ripped off when I was playing, I literally sold my copy.
“I’m assuming you don’t play older games than just a few months then too, casual, otherwise you’d be a hypocrite”
Older games still look good cause the majority ran well and had fun and innovative artstyle unlike this sloppy game
Your whole arguments are dumb and it’s clear you are writing all this garbage to defend your favorite franchise.
counting 25 spawns, so 10 more and better draw distance. Great for shiny hunting
For everything but Minior, Zorua, and Ditto XD. The easiest ways to shiny hunt those are to let all Pokemon spawn with an Encounter 3 boost and check to see if a 16th spawns, the shiny doesn’t count towards the 15 cap, so you could tell if there was a shiny among the otherwise indistinguishable Pokemon without battling them all. Just reset the spawns if there are only 15.
Unfortunately it’s still Scarlet & Violet… hard pass still. Lazy pokemone designs with those goofy lizard vehicles. I hope it is better for all those that have it and are getting a switch 2, it’s just still not good looking to me.
I don’t care what anyone says.
These games ARE fun. They don’t have the magic that Gold and silver did for me. Or the hook that red and blue did, but I definitely did enjoy them a lot more than other Pokemon games I’ve played since Ruby and Sapphire. Yes it was laggy, and had glitches (I personally only had a handful and had to hard reset only once, but I won’t ignore those that got hammered with them) but they were fun. They didn’t feel like a chore like the previous entries have felt for me.
After the new mechanics of legends, this series felt refreshed, and Scarlett and Violet heavily improved on that. These 2 games brought me completely back. Bought both versions, and have completed the Pokedex. To this day, these 2 games are in my top 5 Pokemon games.
