Rumour: Square Enix apparently developing Dragon Quest VII Remake for 2026

The next Dragon Quest game Square Enix is looking to give the remake treatment is the PlayStation One title Dragon Quest VII. The information comes from mp1st who claim they have seen internal documents related to the Japanese company. Dragon Quest VII Remake, if it’s legitimate, is currently targeting an early 2026 release. There was no mention in the report of the eagerly-awaited Dragon Quest XII, which was first announced in May 2021. Square Enix has been notably silent regarding that particular title.

  1. I had this game on PS1, but never really got started due to its hideous graphics. Maybe they’ll make it look better this time.

Aww that’s terrible! I’m already playing the 3ds version now as we speak! I’ve always wanted to play that game and now here is my chance. But now it’s going to come out completely remade in 2026 oh my God I’m going to stop playing and wait for that one I already putting 90 hours into the 3DS version tho damn it!!!!!!! I wasn’t really that much into it tbh so the remake can help with that. bring out dragon quest 9!!!

I really don’t get why game creators are acting like Hollywood when they have tons of ideas yet there is always back peddling like this hopefully they remake games that were discontinued like parasite eves, xenogears ,legend of dragoon, final fantasy six , and Chrono trigger. Would be my back peddling just because games like those aren’t seen enough and should be passed like torches every five generations.or so imagine mother remade it would be loved by gamers all over again.
