Nintendo has released an update for the Super NES – Nintendo Classics app on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. The update adds the ability to customize your control scheme, allowing you to save different button mappings for each game. Mouse controls (using a Joy-Con 2 on Switch 2 or a USB mouse on Switch 1 and 2) have also been added for select titles, including Mario Paint, Mario’s Super Picross and Nobunaga’s Ambition.
The “Super Nintendo Entertainment System – Nintendo Classics” app can be downloaded now from the Nintendo eShop for anyone with an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription.

This is actually something they did weeks ago, but just now decided to make a video talking about this.
Mapping SNES controls. They should have done this a while ago.
Was that not always a thing or am I misremembering? Haven’t touched the classics in years.
Button remapping has only become a recent feature. The first NSO Classic app to have the feature was the GameCube Classics app. They’ve since added it to the N64 app a month or so ago, and now the SNES app.
I guess I was just misremembering. Thanks for clarifying.
I must have remembered it wrong—thanks for clearing that up.
