Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Switch 2 docked is a minimum of 540p and handheld 380p but utilises DLSS

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is one of those ports for the Nintendo Switch 2 that many thought wouldn’t be possible however that has obviously turned out not to be the case. Square Enix has admitted that it has been challenging getting the game to run on the system, but by all accounts they have done a good job. The game’s director Naoki Hamaguchi has said the following when it comes to resolution which is not clear cut and is very much propped up by DLSS.

“The use of DLSS was indispensable in that regard and was readopted in Rebirth as it was in Remake. Neither of their modes relies on fixed resolutions and is instead designed based on dynamic resolution. In handheld mode, the internal resolution ranges between a maximum of 1344×756 and a minimum of 672×380. In docked mode, it ranges between a maximum of 1920×1080 and a minimum of 960×540, the same as Remake.”

  1. It’s really surprising to see Final Fantasy VII Rebirth land on Nintendo Switch 2, as many fans never thought this port would even happen. Square Enix admitted it was tough to get the game running on the hardware, but they’ve clearly done solid work. It’s interesting to hear the resolution isn’t fixed and heavily relies on DLSS to keep things smooth on Switch 2. Great to have this blockbuster finally playable on a Nintendo platform.

Yeah I played the demo and I’m sold. I have the game on PS5 but there is soooo much side content I never did that having a portable option would make easier to complete. I’m also going to buy remake for switch 2 just to build a save file.

  3. Kingdom Hearts 4 was announced first give us an update on that first! I swear by now 4 should have come out and 5 too. The series is skipping this gen like it did PS3 apparently the next Persona is too. This is a worst generation than PS3.
