Capcom Announces It’s Lowering Resident Evil: Revelations Pricing In North America

Capcom has announced that its lowering the recommended retail price of Resident Evil: Revelations to $40. The game was originally priced at $50 which Capcom said was due to the game coming on a 4GB Nintendo 3DS cartridge. Capcom acknowledged that the pricing was too steep and said that they’ve “spent weeks looking for a way to bring [the] cost down to standard 3DS pricing.”

  1. Great :) I played the Demo and might pick this up somewhere down the line. Right now my #1 priority 3DS game is Luigi’s Mansion 2 since i already have about $25 invested in the pre-order. After that, i’m saving all my money for the Wii U.

  2. Must have settled on firing whoever checks the grammar on the box arts as their “way to bring the price down.” How else do you explain “revelaitions?”

  3. ok, awesome, now they got me. I wasn’t planning to buy because I was like : wtf, $50 for a 3DS game, I never pay that price for PC games!!!!!
Now it’s totally worth it. Minus $5 when you preorder online on BestBuy, $35 is kinda great :)

  4. lmao this is the most BS ive ever read, lol 4GB cartridge does not mean they have to pay extra or something, the “spent weeks looking for a way to bring [the] cost down to standard 3DS pricing.” is just fake, the real reason its expensive is because Capcom are VERY greedy i.e. Multiple versions of games etc…

  5. Oh, so I guess I will be receiving some money from it since I’ve already paid the full price of $50. I’m not sure I’ll be buying the Circle Pad Pro for this since the demo played extremely well compared to RE 4 and 5. Now I have to decide between Tales of the Abyss and Tekken. Tekken seems to have the upper hand for me since I saw a few videos on TotA and it looks kind of boring, and I like JRPGs.

  6. Not really played a RE game before. Played the demo on 3DS and it wasn’t really that great. They don’t give you enough damn ammo. :/ Maybe I’ll try one on a home console see if its better with a decent controller.

    • That’s the whole point of the game, to go back to its roots of a survival horror game where you need to be conservative of ammo. RE5 was out in the open and offered plenty of ammo, which took away from the survivor horror aspect of the game.

      • True I guess. I’ll have to be more conservative. Can you recommend a RE game to check out on a home console that would be a good introduction to the series?

        • A good one to start on would probably be Re 4 its the most critically acclaim out of all the others in the series and it has the perfect blend of survival horror and action i highly recommend getting it

  7. Capcom I love you now more than ever. Will you marry me? (And possibly give us MH4 and MML3 in the west as well as put RE6 on Wii U?)

  8. this just turned the game from a “ehh I’ll buy it whenever” to “holy sh*t i’m getting it ASAP” i will be picking up the bundle as well…..60 bucks :) worth it!!

  9. Gee, from the idiocy from the majority of these posts on Sickr’s blog, I really wonder what the age demographics are, because it’d sure explain a lot. Have some class, people.

  10. Just a heads up, at least on Gamestops website you can get a bundle with the Circle pad pro and the game for about $70, although if you really want to save about $10 just buy them seperatly which will save you $10. At the time, the game did come with a pre-order custom case, but it’s hard to say if it is still coming with it or not.

  11. Ehh doesn’t look bad, tried the demo, but something about mgs just attracts me in a way this game doesn’t ….

  12. eh. I got Resi yesterday with the circle pad pro (29.99 for the bundle on zavvi) it’s pretty ok I guess. Finding it very hard to actually get into it. Circle Pad Pro is really nice tho. Makes the 3DS comfortable.

  13. My friend in Europe said the Circle Pad Pro didn’t really make the game much better, and she recommend I wait to pick it up, just FYI.

Also, Gamestop won’t guarantee my free 3DS case with pre-order anymore… :( I was pretty pissed about that.

  17. It’s 4 Gb not 4GB. The lower case b is important because it means bit, not byte.

The cartridge is actually 512 Megabytes which sort of sounds much less impressive but having played the game I can tell you size isn’t everything!
